Just...yes. So good. So imaginative. Littel skeptical about that ending and what‘s to come—and at the same time COMPLETELY blown away!! #marissameyer #renegades

kewilson0282 Want to read this SO. BAD. I love her writing style! So easy, yet so beautiful! :) 6y
valleyc Yes agree!! It was amaze. Different vibe than lunar chronicles, but still very meyer. 6y
Owlcapwn2 I just started this yesterday and I'm already half way done, I'm trying to take it slow cause I don't want it to end lol 6y
valleyc It ends really well! So worth devouring. 😊 6y

I am so blown away. Let me be clear, I do NOT read realistic high school lit. Not for me. Too old for it. Hwoever, they marketed the movie so well that I picked up the book. Wonderfully written, completely intriguing, and ending will leave you at peace.

I'm so saddened by this. I thought Glass Sword was a fluke. But now, I see that the greatness of Red Queen was. This read as drawn out and dull as GS. The first 300 pages could have been 100. In facf, this novel may have worked better if put together with GS. Having one book of the exciting moments, and none of the dull interludes.

This is a farce of what the Harry Potter series is. Plot holes, mischaracterization, ideas too fantastical for belief. I don't see this as canon, and neither should you.

Wonderful noir-take on gangsters in Gotham! This book was beautifully drawn, beautifully written, and perfectly intriguing. Harvey Dent's arc was my personal favorite.

100000000xs a pick! Oh my Legend, it was amazing! Kept you guessing. It was like stepping into a whole new Wonderland. I love magical circus novels, and this did not disappoint. The exploration of sisterhood was beautifully done--and I believe will be expanded upon in the sequel. Possibly the themes of mother/daughter and brotherhood will be addressed as well. I will say no more! Remember, it's only a game. #caraval #stephaniegarber #flatironbooks

**Received an ARC from @flatironbooks in an exchange for an honest review.

And honestly--loved it! It has a great slow rise. The opposing points of view are easily distinguishable. You are dragged into the psychosis of Adele from the very beginning. The end--you cannot predict it! And, actually, it's my only complaint. This novel is not marketed as having mild paranormal elements. Had it been, I would have read it with different expectations.

Honestly, 200 pages in and nothing has happened. I'm getting the feeling that there doesn't need to be a fourth book--that the third and fourth should have been combined.

briski I thought this exact same thing as I was reading this one. 7y
valleyc Yeahhh. I think Averyard had a great story that maybe could have been condensed into even two novels. Idk what the end of this one/the last one holds though. 7y

The plot is all that got me through.
Cons: too many convenient ships, overdone characters, character choices made off page, when did this become erotica?, INCREDIBLY SIMILAR ending to #acomaf --suddenly mates, woman is taken away, secret wedding
Pros: PLOT, intricacies in plot, some of the ships, cliffhanger

It's up to y'all--but I do get frustrated that people fan over this and don't truly consider its merit from a literary standpoint.

I know my problem. I LOVE the plot. So creative and imaginative and deep and amazing. It's the larger-than-life personalities that bother me. And I love strong female characters but I don't need to be reminded every five seconds with narration. I guess tbh a lot of this series is overkill or "too much." It works for ACOTAR! We were always aware we were in a Fae world. It has different rules & is therefore more believable than TOG. Thoughts??

I finally picked this back up. And I know peope rave about this series. But it's just like how I feel about #thewrathandthedawn : I sincerely think people are just caught up in sheer fandom. I'm not saying this is bad. The prose are beautiful. But I am consistently upset that it falls victim to cliched characters and ESPECIALLY CLICHED SHIPPING. It is HIGHLY unrealistic that EVERY character ends up together. What are your thoughts? #empireofstorms

Here's the thing: while good, and I'm DEFINITELY excited for the third book, the whole middle of this novel is tedious. Mare's character is developed incredibly well, so props. But there were strong Hunger Game overtones--particulary similarities between Book 3 Katniss and Mare. And the minor love triangle with the boy from back home. And the martyrdom. But at least Mare has some serious growth in just this book, whereas Katniss never did.

#halfwaythrureview Guys. This book is slow. Sorry, Aveyard. But the first was better. Not saying this is bad--because it's not!--but it's slow. It doesn't play to the strengths of her writing style--fast paced, leave most description to the reader's imagination, etc. Instead, it's dragging. I get Mare has experienced certain things, but that doesn't mean the pace should slow. In fact, with all the adventure, it should speed up! Hope it ends well!

Foreversweetserendipity Exactly my feelings. I was more on the edge of my seat in the first book. Not so much while reading this. 7y
valleyc @Foreversweetserendipity yep!! But I think the 3rd one might pick up again--and maybe have more romance! 7y

#favoritebookof2016

A Court of Thorns and Roses was good. Seriously. Better than the Throne of Glass series by far. But a Court of Mist and Fury....I can't even explain my feelings toward it. Breathtaking. Jawdropping. Life changing, honestly. I read this in May and haven't been able to get it out of my thoughts since. I felt trapped in that world weeks after I finished, and in some ways I still do. Can't wait for A Court of War and Ruins!!

398.2 I felt the same way! 😍 7y

Though Aveyard's writing style is not something I'm accustomed to--present tensd, little description--it works beautifully for Mare, our hardened protagonist. An amazing debut novel! So glad I already bought the second. Time to dig in!

This....this was a hard read. Yesterday, I would have given this a so-so. I almost bailed. BUT I hadn't read the last third of the book. And that altered my opinion completely. Bravo, Marissa Meyer. You did it. I think this is a beautiful, fantastical origin story that not only reads Carrollian, but shows the darkness that can be uncovered in us all--if only placed in the "right" situation. #marissameyer #heartless #queenofhearts
