I'm having the hardest time getting through the third book. I'm really tired of Mare going back and forth between the two princes. In my opinion they're both assholes and I wish she would actually put some effort into saving literally anyone. I'm going to finish it but I'm not happy about it #nowreading
It felt rather predictable for me in large part, although I still enjoyed it. It also seems rather far fetched that both brothers are so obsessed with Mare. I like that she kept the fight in her instead of succumbing to her circumstances. She became quite adept at manipulating Maven. Not my favorite in the series but it will move the story forward.
I almost stopped reading halfway through because the constant drama and long winded monologues were exhausting. But once I made it past the halfway point, things got so much better. The joy and intrigue I felt when reading Red Queen returned and I was glad I stuck it out.
Third book from my book club! I don't know what it was about this book, but I didn't like it as much as the first two. I realize this was necessary for the series, but I felt like it was a bit drawn out... It may be that I'm really homesick, being in Tennessee, I'm too far from the ocean. So I included a picture of my home.
I would recommend this book for anyone who loved the first two books.
📚📚 Happy Reading, Friends! 📚📚
Here‘s the thing. Mare Barrow is f*cking annoying. Cal is annoying. Cameron is annoying. Evangeline is annoying. All of the things they do to each other are annoying. So why am I reading the third installment? F*ck if I know. I don‘t know if this is an endorsement or warning.
So I finally read some reviews on this series, and I‘m totally shocked! I love it, but many seem to feel ambivalent about it! It‘s such a good, page turning read, and I feel like I don‘t often find a series like this. So, let this be one of the positive reviews among a lot of neutral ones- I like it. You should read it.
Book 18of my year! Gonna jump back into this world and see how the fuck Mare is gonna get out of her current predicament. It makes me furiously upset to see how far she has fallen & given up on herself. I want to fucking sword fight Maven so bad!
Not sure why I torture myself with this series. I guess bc I‘m running low on audio options from my library. I like to know how things end, so I‘ll probably complete the series, but I wouldn‘t recommend it to anyone.
This book was, by far, my favourite in the series. I LOVED the beginning, with Mare being imprisoned, and the impacts of that decision on both sides of the war. Actually, I just really liked all of this plot. We start to get more of the history of the world of RQ, and the characters within it. Like Evangeline, omg. Also it‘s kind of embarrassing it took me this long, but I finally realized that the RQ map looks a bit familiar...
Wowza this one started off slow and the ending packed a punch! 👊 This introduced a lot of new characters and fleshed out the ones already in the first two books. This also really built on the main character herself, and how intricate one person can be. This story was a large majority of Mare and her inner struggles and I really enjoyed it. On to the last one!
Loved it. This was the third book in the Red Queen series. I thought it was the best so far, better than the second in its unexpected turns and in the depth of exploration the author does with each character. I enjoyed the heightened detail and time spent with side characters to supplement the storyline of the main characters. Exciting battles and excruciating choices abound.
Ok, I took way too long to read this one so don't feel I can properly review it. However, the last 150 or so pages just felt choppy to me. I didn't really understand how we got to some of the places towards the end. But, I will still read the next book because I was left wanting to know what happens.
