Set during Thanksgiving weekend, the whole Ryan family comes together for the first time in years. The 3 sisters all have secrets and troubles they‘re dealing with, but the present is plagued by an incident that happened 13 years ago, for the sisters and their parents. The story is told from the POV of each sister. A solid family drama!

Came across this Thanksgiving novella on Chirp. It sounded cute so I thought why not? Skye, a flight attendant, has been warned by several attendants to stay away from River, a handsome cocky pilot, because he‘s nothing more than a player. When a snowstorm strands them at a hotel over Thanksgiving, Skye starts to doubt the rumors about River.

Lily, a wizard, is drawn into her witch friend Sebastian‘s plan to undo an ancient curse on an old estate, one that causes anyone who lives there misfortune and eventual death. That storyline ended with an epilogue, then a whole new story started, one in which a small town was caught in a time loop, and Lily and Sebastian have to save the town. It was just a disconnect to me and took away enjoyment from the main story.

When I bought this book I didn‘t know it was a series (this is book 2) but I wasn‘t confused or felt like I was missing something. It‘s sweet with a bit of spice, and I enjoyed it, but I‘m not chomping at the bit to read any of the others (there are 8 books total).

Not my favorite Lapena book, but it is a page turner! I wish the resolution was less ambiguous. Stephanie and Patrick are happily married with newborn twin girls. The babies are colicky and none of them are sleeping well. Enter Erica, someone from Patrick‘s past, who accuses him of killing his first wife ten years ago. Stephanie starts to doubt her husband, and doesn‘t know who to believe.

Vi, a twenty-something who‘s been dumped and lost direction in her life, finds a sentient blob in an alley and takes it home. She then decides to mold it into the perfect man. This was weird and quirky and really boring! Vi is pretty unlikable and very uninteresting. This could have been so much more, so much hilarity could‘ve ensued, but it fell flat for me.

This was a story-within-a-story situation, so between all the characters and the two stories, it was just a lot to keep up with! And I didn‘t really like the ending. I didn‘t love this one but didn‘t hate it either.

A paranormal romance with a dash of cozy mystery and was so cute!

Normally, I don‘t like character driven novels but I was pretty engrossed in this one! It is a good book, but Queen Meryl‘s narration put it over the top. During the pandemic, Lara‘s 3 daughters return to the family‘s cherry orchard to help with the harvest, and they beg her to tell the story of the summer she dated a famous movie star and worked as an actress.

My 16 yo loves all the movies, and I‘ve watched the newer ones with her. For a con last summer, she dressed as Ghostface, and she met Skeet Ulrich and Matthew Lillard! But I had to ask her a few times to take off the mask 🤣

So cute! Zelda, a witch with secrets, has been living a quiet life for the last decade. Peter, a vampire with amnesia, shows up at Zelda‘s door with a letter from her old friend Reggie, asking her to help Peter. Peter‘s journal full of cryptic notes is the only thing they have to possibly help regain his memory, so they hit the road and follow the clues.
