"Finally the smallest of the monkeys, a tiny marmoset in a fez and a red bolero who had been silent until now, spoke up." My favorite line in this book!!! I love monkeys, marmosets specifically!!!!

Flawed: A Novel | Cecelia Ahern

Celestine North is flawed and has to figure out how to live in society as a flawed person. I loved the short chapters. It definitely helped with the pacing of the book, which I felt was perfect. I wanted to read the whole book in one sitting so I could find out what was going to happen.

Not Exactly a Love Story | Audrey Couloumbis

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐Completely different from everything else I read. Yes, this was completely cheesy. But despite that, I absolutely loved this book. I was in the mood for a light, fluffy, cheesy book and that was exactly what I got. I really enjoyed watching this friendship blossom and listening to all of their quirky midnight conversations. It also had a nice message about family. I loved the short chapters, which helped the reading pace move along nicely.

⭐⭐⭐My first Khaled Hosseini book. I don't normally read these types of books, so I didn't enjoy it. It was well written, but I didn't care about the characters or what was happening. This doesn't mean it was bad, I've heard a lot of great things about this book and author. It just wasn't the right time for me. Perhaps I'll pick it up again for another chance. #BookWorm #ReadingAddict #ReadEveryday #ReadingBringsJoy #KhaledHosseini #TheKiteRunner

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐Trigger warning. I couldn't this down. This is a gripping story about a man that captures young women and keeps them for himself to do whatever he pleases. He really cherishes beauty and wants to hold on to it and make it last forever which is why he preserves his "butterflies". The things that this young woman, Maya, had to do to survive is heartbreaking and you follow her as she tells her story in flashbacks to FBI agents handling her case.

The Truth About Alice | Jennifer Mathieu

Panpan

⭐Alice goes to a party where a rumor starts about her sleeping with two guys on the same night. At school, a bathroom stall is deemed as the slut stall where nasty comments about her are written. One of the guys that is rumored she slept with dies in a car accident and the teen that survived the accident says that Alice was texting him to have sex. Alice gets bullied and blamed for the death. Nothing in this book was resolved. The book just ended.

Practical Magic | Alice Hoffman

I really had no idea what this book was about before it starting it. I just thought it was about witches and Magic. But it's actually about so much more than that. It's about love and family and the bond that siblings can have.
The only thing I didn't really like about the book, was that there are no chapters. Instead it was separated into parts.
My overall rating:⭐⭐⭐⭐

5⭐Like Auggie and many other people, I was made fun of as a kid. So this book really hit home for me. Words are very hurtful and as a young child, all you want is to be accepted. Auggie was such a trooper, a good role model and he didn't give up. Even as an adult, we can all learn from Auggie. Never give up and stay determined. Auggie reminds us all that if we choose to be kind with one another, then the world would be a better place.--Choose kind

This was my very first retelling that I have read. It's a Cinderella retelling in a sci-fi world. It's such a fun and easy read with some surprising twists and turns. I really enjoyed the world, Cinder's character and the relationship between her and Kai. I can't wait to read the second book! #TheLunarChronicles #MarissaMeyer #CinderellaRetelling #Cinder #Books #WorkingMyWayThroughMyTBR #Bookish #BookLove #ReadingAddict #ReadEveryday #BookNerd

BreesBooks28 This was my very first retelling two years ago and I loved it. It's actually my favorite series♡. 2y
SNM99 @BreesBooks28 Oh that's so cool!! I have several other retellings in my personal library now that I want to get to, I just don't have the time right now because I'm in the middle of other books. And so far I'm really enjoying this series. I just finished Scarlet last week, I need to put up my review for it too. 2y

I thought this book was excellent. It was a definite page turner for me. I thought the ending was just ok but it wasn't a disappointment either, it just wasn't amazing.

I absolutely loved the alternative writing format. The diary and notes between Carly and Kaitlyn, psychiatric reports, witness testimonials and video footage were easy to follow. Kaitlyn, the alter ego, becomes the main suspect in Carly's disappearance. You dig deeper and realize that there's some memory being suppressed in their mind about an incident that Dr. Lansing won't tell them about because she feels that they aren't ready to know yet.

'Salem's Lot | Stephen King
post image
Mehso-so

3⭐on Goodreads.
Too many unnecessary characters.
There was a scene that was very hard for me to read which was at a religious funeral, (pretty common with a vampire theme.)
The ending was abrupt. The defeat of the vampire was too simple and not long enough. Not enough vampire interaction, which made the ending feel rushed.
I was entertained while reading this book, but I was left disappointed. It didn't live up to Stephen King's horror reputation.

Abhorsen was trapped in death and Sabriel was determined to save him. During her journey, she meets Mogget and Touchstone, and finds out there is a powerful and deadly enemy chasing her. The enemy reveal is shocking and dark. The conclusion of the book is well thought out and doesn't disappoint.

Overall, this was an enjoyable read. Looking forward to picking up the rest of the books in this series to learn more about the world and magic systems.

I'm currently buddy reading this book. It's been a slow read because my buddy hasn't been able to devote too much time to read, so I'm only on page 137 at the moment. Hopefully we can speed up a bit. I feel like the book is just getting good too. I can't wait to find out what happens next. 🤓📚

It | Stephen King

I was so excited to read this book but I feel that it might have been hyped up way too much for me and I wasn't really expecting this kind of story from the king of horror. It was my first Stephen King book to read and I'm not impressed. I'm sure I'll hear a lot of backlash for this, but I'm just being honest. I'm not saying it was bad, it just wasn't great, wasn't scary and just wasn't what I expected it to be.

So I just finished this book. And all I can say, is wow. That ending was absolutely perfect and unexpected. I had a few qualms with the book, but nothing major. All the pieces fell so perfectly together. I'm so very excited to see what they do with the movie adaptation. I don't expect for it to be exactly the same, but I do expect the puzzle to be the same.

Can someone please tell me how to update the page I'm on?

SNM99 @MrBook Not really. I'm quite confused, actually. 😳 2y
MrBook Uh-oh! *flexes neck* What can we help you with? ☺️ 2y
SNM99 @MrBook Lol, I'm not sure. Where does one start on here? 2y
MrBook Hmmm. 2y
MrBook Ask away, and I'll see what I can do for you. 🤓🤞🏻 2y
SNM99 @MrBook Ok, so what exactly are stacks? 2y
MrBook On your profile, the open book is your TBR stack. The closed book is the stack you've finished. To look for a book, click on the magnifying glass at the bottom of the screen and do a book search for the title. 2y
MrBook You can rate the books you've read. They don't get stacked according to your ratings, it's just that one list for completed books and the other list for books you want to read. If you see a book that someone talks about that you want to add to your to-be-read list, just click on the book icon below their post. 2y
MrBook Also, if someone posts a book that you want to learn more about, you can find out the book's summary, length, publishing date, and genre, by either clicking on its title in the post's banner or by swiping on the post's picture to the left. 2y
SNM99 @MrBook Hmmm I'm going to try. Because the only thing I was able to figure out is add the book that I'm currently reading. 2y
SNM99 @MrBook Yay!! I added it to my TBR stack. Finally!! 😊 2y
MrBook WOOHOO! Progress made. 😁👍🏻 2y
SNM99 @MrBook Indeed!! 2y
MrBook It took me and @Bookbabe a few days to get the hang of things. 2y
MrBook What else would you like to know? 2y
SNM99 @MrBook Not sure. What other tips can you give me? 2y
MrBook Stay away from the light. Just kidding. Hmmm. A question that gets asked a lot is how to connect with more people. You can search a title and find Littens who have posted about it--you can connect with those who have a similar taste that way. Or you can find someone, tap on their followers or following list and go from there. 😊👍🏻 (edited) 2y
SNM99 Oh, that's a good tip. Because that's so true. I'm trying to connect with others that want to read the same things I read. And I really want to buddy read with people. Which I'm currently doing with one person but she's not on top of it, like we've been reading for 2 weeks now and I'm only on page 120 because I'm trying to not get too far ahead of her. And we've discussed close to nothing about the book. 😥 2y
SNM99 @MrBook What are book adds? 2y
MrBook Oh nooo, buddy reads can be a bit difficult 😕. Hopefully it picks up for you. Book adds are when people add a book you tag for a post to their to-be-read pile. Whatever the number is, that's how many times people added a book to their own stack because of you. 😁 2y
SNM99 @MrBook Ohhhh that's pretty cool!! 2y
