This is the second YA thriller I've read recently and I enjoyed it! It has mystery layers, a boarding school setting, and focuses a lot on socioeconomic dynamics between students/academic entities.
It's a fun time and I'm glad I read it! 😁

This one is a pretty quick adventure. Dass and Rooper are the main protagonists since they're the youngest and have the most need to grow, comparatively.
I like the themes of the book and I like seeing an older version of the Jedi. It's not revolutionary and it could've had more detail, but I enjoyed it as it is 🙂
Is this book original & unique? No, not really. It's a pulpy crime thriller from the 60s.
If I had to sum it up, I'd say Cars 2 mostly used the plot from it but made it family friendly, less globe-trotting, and added the power of friendship to the movie.
Mistaken identity, secret agents, & lots of dangerous people that a lawyer ends up facing against - all to try and get the girl.
It's not the most unique book ever but it kept me reading

“I would like,“ she said, “to be rich enough to be unhappy, but not rich enough to be miserable.“

Mao Mao possibly finding a bestie matching her weird energy is everything right now 😂

Thrillers are just falling into my lap these days 😂
Also, if somebody brought me a commissioned cat painting as a thank you gift, I'd be pretty happy 🤣🐱
Exotic reptile shop metaphors aside, I really enjoyed this book. The twists were fun and I kept being like “whoa, what?“ with each plot addition. The last act and ending had me reeling! Good book 🙂

“Walking onto campus the first day of senior year feels like walking into an exotic reptile shop.“
This is one of the oddest metaphors I've read in a long time 😂
I'm realizing that I uh...I should probably finish more books that are on my Currently Reading list instead of continually starting on new books & adding more to the Currently Reading pile 😅
I liked how much this one added to the first series. It addressed a few questions I had and felt a bit more cohesive compared to the first Marvel Zombies. Still absolutely chaotic 😂
There's only one word that comes to mind about how I can best describe this comic series (the first Marvel Zombies): CHAOS. It's pure chaos. It's not great, it's not amazing....it's just....chaos lol
Listened to the audiobook...the narration was good and I liked seeing more of Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan in action together. But overall, the plot was pretty simple, I wasn't too attached to any of the side characters, and this felt like....a pretty basic Star Wars book compared to others.
I've enjoyed two of James Luceno's other Star Wars works far more. Decent, but not a must-read.

Newest Little Free Library pick up! Excited to get into this series and see what it's about 😁
Super fun read! I've never read a book with the twist this one has, so I really enjoyed it 😁
This was also my first ever Blind Date with a Book experience and I'm so down to do another round!
Lore Olympus is still one of my favorite WEBTOON series, EVER. The art is gorgeous, the story is thrilling, and I'm so intensely invested in this world and its characters 😄
I can't recommend this series enough if you love comics/graphic novels or mythology! Volume Eight is real good and I can't wait til next month so I can read the Ninth!

I just started on a new manga series and I'm really enjoying it so far. The structure is pretty different from other manga I've read. It has a lot of time passage between key moments - but it's pretty cute so I'm having a good time with it 😊

The newest Magic Tree House book is real good! I love otters and animals, so the last four have been very entertaining reads 😊 This is such a a great series for young readers!

Pretty excited to start this as an audiobook. I love sharks, I love R. L. Stine; this seems like a perfect combination 🦈📖🎧
I started this series a long time ago, but never finished it. The first book is still so good! Loved MacLeod Andrews' narration of the audiobook 😄
I'll have to try out the newer graphic novel adaptations next as I restart the series 🙂
I don't think I gave an eff to begin with coming into this book. 😂 Chapter 9 feels like the only chapter with some real depth & substance to it. Others feel fluffy & like a young drunk dude telling you his life story while you nod along at some things wholeheartedly & then keep nodding throughout to be polite when you're just over it.
This audiobook was exactly what I needed to be able to relax during a super long car ride. It was familiar, added some fun extra details to fill in silence gaps from the film, and was an all around good time. If you love Pirates of the Caribbean, this doesn't disappoint 😊

Husband got me my first ever blind date book & I'm so excited to start on it! 😊📖

Sometimes you just need something familiar in a new format 🏴☠️

Made my #BookSpinBingo list this past week while packing. Had to make sure I'd packed all my ebooks and audiobooks accordingly! 😁

Was able to get in some good reading time yesterday! I'm already 100 pages into Darth Plagueis, my next stop on the Star Wars Legends timeline 😊
The next week there's a chance I'll just be chronically online. My grandpa is entering hospice care at home and.....there likely won't be much happening apart from me reading and visiting. I never know what to do with myself at moments like this, so reading, gaming, and online socializing tends to be what I turn to. I'm taking 3 physical books and I've loaded my tablet with ebooks/audiobooks. Far more than I'll need or get to, but that's what I do

I'm almost done and this book has been pretty interesting overall - but I REALLY need more xenomorphs tbh. This one is suffering from a general lack of alien creatures given it being part of a larger franchise that prides itself on the titular monster. 😅

This is a pretty good YA/middle grade book starring Marvel's Iron Man. It was exciting, it had danger, it was explosive. All in all, a fun time for a Marvel fan wanting a reading fix! It isn't the most in-depth Iron Man story and it's pretty barebones. Classic villain, classic villain plot, a snarky genius kid, and Iron Man put together makes for a good read as long as you're okay with all that 😊
I finished my first #BookSpin read! This book is setup very similar to the first one, The Last Wish. I liked it and I'm liking how the stories are starting to build upon each other with the theme of destiny. I'll eventually start book 3, but not quite yet. So far I've been very happy with The Witcher series.

Big was one of my top favorite reads in June. It speaks so deeply to the way girls are spoken to & spoken about. It also really hits home on how things others think are innocent can plant seeds for decreased confidence, body image struggles, and long-term trauma. I like the way this book approaches the topic & how it tackles all of that. June was a great (and insightful!) reading month for me

I laughed, I cried, I was excited, I finished it. I still think I liked the second book better, but this is a great main trilogy. I'll be taking a short break before I fully jump into A Court of Frost and Starlight; I'm working on some of my other library check-outs. This one was just so satisfying that I feel I need to have a little pause to let it sink in and really sit with everything that's happened over the course of these first three books.

My current #BookSpin read! This is the second book of The Witcher series.

Finally got to post my first ever BookSpin Bingo list!! Most are library books I've had checked out that I need to read and some are books I bought during travels last year I've been meaning to read!

Decided to spend a couple of days seeing how American history is being presented to young readers by reading a series I've seen around a decent bit the last several years.
This is a really good addition to Nathan Hale's graphic novel history series, particularly after reading One Dead Spy, which kicks it off. Both are about the American Revolution and present an in-depth picture of the war, while being accessible to kids. I def recommend it!
I liked this book WAY better on my second read of it and I already have the second book checked out and ready to be read! It's a humorous adventure and has a lot of charm. It isn't exactly like the movie which makes it fun to experience as an essentially new story by comparison.
I finally finished reading this one last night!! SOOOO much better than the first book. I was excited, I was intrigued, I didn't expect myself to like it as much as I have. The first book in the series had me a little concerned about how much I'd be able to get into the series as a whole, but finishing book 2 has me already running to start book 3! I need to see what's next for Feyre, because that ending was a whirlwind.

I'm starting on a read through of Caldecott award books and this is one of the most gorgeous ones I've ever read.

We have a ton of the Branches series books for young readers, so I've wanted to read a few to see how they are.
This is my second and it's super cute! Both this one and the Pug Diaries are fun, light-hearted, and seem very approachable. I'll likely be reading a few more so I have ready to go recommendations for my library's little bookworms!

First time doing a #5JoysFriday with @debinhawaii!
This week I was able to do a lot of self-care and family bonding. Started off the week seeing How to Train Your Dragon for my sister in law's birthday and bought a Jaws popcorn bucket that same day.
Later in the week I finally watched Cruella which was awesome. On Wednesday at my library we did repujados (metal embossing) & the kids did great! Then today I just finished reading Detective Bean!

Super cute and lighthearted mystery graphic novel, perfect for young mystery fans. I love the art style on this one and the way it can be used to introduce kiddos to detective fiction.
“To the stars who listen and the dreams that are answered“
I haven't read this book/series since 2014, but I just saw the new live action movie...
My dragon-loving self wants to jump back in and finish the book series completely now 😅 Its been a decade since I read the first two books, but you can never have enough dragons in your life! Time for a reread & restart #HTTYD #CressidaCowell #ChildrensFantasy #FantasyBooks #Dragons

I love this fresh take on Osamu Tezuka's classic story! The art is so smooth and really doesn't divert too far from its inspiration source in terms of design. I can't wait for the sequel to release and hope this graphic novel gets the love it deserves ❤
