Finally picking this book up again, I‘ve had a very steady stream of library holds grace my ereader. Wanna get to at least two more books before school starts up in a few weeks. Wish me luck!

‘Anger is a signal, and one worth listening to. Our anger may be a message that we are being hurt, that our rights are being violated, that our needs or wants are not being adequately met, or simply that something is not right. Our anger may tell us that we are not addressing important emotional issues in our lives, or that too much of our self—our beliefs, values, desires, or ambitions—is being compromised in a relationship.‘

When Sophie Gets Really Angry - Really, Really, Angry is a children‘s modern fiction book about a little girl who gets angry and has to find a place to calm down before she returns to her family. This is a Caldecott winner and was written and illustrated by Molly Bang. This book would be good to use as a reader‘s theater in order to aid EL students using strategy #17 by providing support through body language and facial expressions.

MeaganM http://www.readwritethink.org/professional-development/strategy-guides/readers-t... The above website provides and outline for implementing a reader‘s theater in the classroom. The UDL strategy is 8.3 as it fosters collaboration and community by having students work together. #ucflae3414su19

fquadri I can see how this book can be used for RT. Really like the link you provided! Readwritethink.org is an awesome website. 3w
SarynaN Love the idea of using this for a readers theater! It‘s a great way for students to role play through their emotions :) 3w

Swarm of Bees | Lemony Snicket

Pickpick

Swarm of Bees is a traditional literature book written by Lemony Snicket. The pictures are by Rilla Alexander and are full of bright colors and dot art. This book is about a little boy, along with a swarm of bees and his town, who all get upset but then come together to feel better. This is a fantastic book for EL students to encourage self-talk with strategy #3..

MeaganM I can see teachers exposing students to the bond of community and working together as a way to open the door for EL students to discuss their own culture and community. https://www.thepathway2success.com/how-to-teach-positive-self-talk/. #ucflae3414su19 (edited) 4w
Macker11 This looks like such a cute book! What a great lesson embedded into it as well! I love the classroom community side of it as well, cute choice ! 4w
MeaganM This website is very useful for teachers who want to incorporate self-talk and positive talk. It provides tips for helping children use positive self-talk. This book would be appropriate to use with a storytelling strategy to engage all students and for UDL 9.1 to promote expectations and beliefs that optimize motivation. This book would offer many opportunities for great discussions!

DrSpalding I am hoping you were inspired by the author study to check out some of Snicket‘s/Handler‘s work. Good choice! 3w

Bought this in January at Eagle Harbor Books on Bainbridge Island, near Seattle, and I‘ve had it on my TBR plan ever since. It‘s appropriate as I am currently furious with a host of people and topics that boil down to racism, sexism, homophobia, and patriarchal control over women‘s bodies via fatphobia. Soooo yep. 🧐🤬
