Woof. I read this in one mesmerized, horrified gulp. Gorgeously written and just eviscerating. I guessed part of it but that didn't spare me anything.

so-soThis novel is a little difficult to follow with the large number of characters and jumps in time, which could be why it's less scary than it might have been. I appreciate the setting---California's Central Valley---and there's a lot of vivid imagery, but the story doesn't quite gel, at least for me. The ending is solid, though.

so-soOut of all of MXTX‘s works this was the one that interested me the least. I wasn't going to buy it but I found it for £3 at a charity shop.
This didn't capture me. I enjoyed the sections in the present but I found the flashbacks quite dull. I'm not interested enough to carry on, especially since it's such a long series and expensive to buy.

pickThis one landed as a soft pick. It kept me glued to the pages while I was reading it, but I felt a little let down by the ending. This seems to be a common theme for me with this author.

Surprised I enjoyed this, to be honest. 😂 It's a short prequel to a series in which all of Austen's main characters work or go to school at a Southern University. This is about Jane's secret relationship, and her attempts to pledge a snobby sorority that will facilitate her seeing Frank... even though a much friendlier one with Elizabeth Bennet is available. It felt like the author was having fun with the characters, and I'll read on.
panThis has been on my ARC backlog for awhile and I thought it was about queer vampires. It isn't. That's on me.
It's a dark academia murder mystery which wasn't very well done. The book is messy. The ideas are good but they got lost in confusing and dense prose.
It lacked depth and the ending was very unsatisfactory.
