Loved Every Stitch 😏
This was my first introduction to the idea of craftivism! I love it. This was a fun journey through the history of knitting, with a little crochet thrown in at the end. There were bits that were also memoir of the author that really enriched the whole book. My favorite part was the part toward the end about the knitting and crocheting brain.
👇🏻👇🏻👇🏻

GingerAntics My only complaint is that I wish it had been longer. I needed more yarn craft love! Absolutely worth the read. #knitting #crochet #crochetersoflitsy #knittersoflitsy #craftersoflitsy #yarnarts 5d

This book has caused me to take out my knitting needles after 3 years… it is not going well. I‘m not exactly back at square one, but oh boy do I have issues with my stitches being WAY too tight again. I also ended up picking up a stitch somewhere at one point, then later dropping two, so it‘s been a wild ride today. Maybe I shall forever be a crocheter. 🤷🏼‍♀️

AnnCrystal 😜😂🤪 Knitting drives me looney...I vote for crochet 😉👌🏼🧶🧵💝. 6d
GingerAntics @AnnCrystal I‘m definitely better at crochet. I‘ve also heard that you can crochet faster than you can knit. Dunno if that‘s actually true or not… for some reason, I feel like I‘ve failed at knitting somehow. 🤷🏻‍♀️ I‘m a bleeding perfectionist. 6d
GingerAntics @AnnCrystal I also tend to drop and pick up stitched while crocheting, too. I‘m not sure what my problem is, but my stitches never look as clean and obvious as pictures and videos online. 6d

AnnCrystal Crocheting feels faster, and my work are not perfect with, but I 'm cool with that. For me, enjoying the craft is most important, and perfection is completely accidental 😂😉👌🏼💝💝💝. 6d
GingerAntics @AnnCrystal totally fair. I found something online that might help with my tension issues and help me relax my hands a bit. I‘m also very excited to try some knee yarn that doesn‘t unravel as you use it, so I can practice with it. 6d
AnnCrystal That's neat, hadn't tried that yarn. I do need to work on loosening my tension too.

I picked up a packet of Clover Weaving Sticks some time ago, but they seem intimidating. Have you tried these?
5d
GingerAntics @AnnCrystal weaving sticks? I‘m intrigued 4d
AnnCrystal @GingerAntics there are thick (jumbo) and thin (fine) options. If you try them, let me know. I haven't made a real effort to learn how to use these 👀☺️👍🏼💝. They say it's like having a loom in your pocket. 4d
GingerAntics @AnnCrystal I can‘t said what I was expecting, but I know it wasn‘t this. https://youtube.com/shorts/niUM0g0y-_Q?si=Fjh7VbiaPjs6tvsY 4d
AnnCrystal 👏🏼🤩 @GingerAntics Thank You for sharing, that is an excellent video you found. I need to give this a try, but the simplicity of crocheting has me spoiled 😂👍🏼🧶🧵🧶💝. (edited) 3d
GingerAntics @AnnCrystal oh yeah. There is something about the simplicity of it that makes it relaxing. 3d
AnnCrystal @GingerAntics truth 👏🏼😉👍🏼💝💝💝. 2d

I‘m very behind in my reading this month. So, in addition to my physical book, I did a little #audioknitting tonight. This is from a mystery gnome knit along #MKAL with Imagined Landscapes. Perfect for one of the Queen of Mystery‘s books.
My Professor is pretty cute.
I‘m enjoying this Christie so far.

Rebecca the #booksnake is sporting 10 stripes now (I actually frogged her and started her body over and am much happier). This is everything I read in January.

maich I love it😍 6mo
TheAromaofBooks Sooo adorable!! So are you changing colors based on genre, or based on how much you liked the book, or some other parameter? 6mo
MaleficentBookDragon @TheAromaofBooks I‘m changing colors by genre. I have a key that I made to go by. This photo is not great color-wise because thrillers are actually a dark teal while mysteries are a forest green. I do have a fun sparkly yarn that I‘ll add to any 5 ⭐️ books, but I haven‘t read any yet this year. 6mo
Meshell1313 Soo cool! Love it! 😍 6mo
Zuhkeeyah I found a crochet pattern (because I don't know how to knit) and I plan to make a book snake as well! Rebecca has inspired me. 6mo
TheAromaofBooks SO fun!!! 6mo
janeycanuck So fun! I started singing “Rebecca the book snake has ten stripes, Rebecca the book snake has ten stripes, Rebecca the book snake has ten stripes so go Rebecca go!” to the tune of Alice the Camel. I need less sugar, I think 6mo

Kitta Oh yay! That‘s great I‘ll save it to my ravelry. 6mo
Kitta Is the magic loop method hard? I usually use dpns but I don‘t have the right size right now. 6mo
MaleficentBookDragon @Kitta I cannot used DPNs. I am not coordinated enough. I used to do magic loop but I tended to get laddering. I found a great alternative. I use FlexiFlips. They are the best of both. I use them for all small circumference knitting. https://youtu.be/IgzMgqT-2Qs 6mo
Kitta @MaleficentBookDragon oooh I‘ll check those out! 6mo
MaleficentBookDragon @Kitta they are not cheap but I love them. I‘ve also used HiyaHiya Flyers. The metal ones are SHARP, if you like sharper tips. If you get them let me know if you like them. They were a game changer for me. 6mo
CatLass007 A friend of mine uses circular needles for everything. No DPNs, no regular knitting needles, whatever those are called. Just the circular ones. Which I have a hard time remembering not to say the round ones. 5mo
Kitta @MaleficentBookDragon I wonder if they come in bamboo too or would that be too flexible a material? I prefer bamboo needles generally and a blunter tip lol. My old dpns are wood but I stepped on two and broke them! 🤦🏻‍♀️ 5mo
Kitta @MaleficentBookDragon I just checked and addi makes bamboo ones! Edit: So does Hiyahiya! (edited) 5mo
MaleficentBookDragon @Kitta oh yes. I have both. Addi will be a bit blunter. It seems Hiya Hiya likes really sharp tips. I hope you like them.🤞 5mo
Kitta @MaleficentBookDragon the only sharp tips I have are my Chiaogoos and they‘re metal, which I found I didn‘t like. So slippery for what I was doing. So maybe I‘ll like sharp tips if they‘re bamboo? I‘m not sure. I‘ll probably try the addi ones first. 5mo

My January 2025 #Bookspin and #Doublespin wintery picks are done and dusted.
Both were solid reads that made the cold and snow characters in the stories.
Neither knocked my socks off but I enjoyed reading both.
The tagged book was a #netgalley arc, so thanks to them for giving me a copy of the book for an honest review.
That‘s 2 more stripes on Rebecca my knitted #ReadingSnake (horror and thriller) #knittersoflitsy #litsycrafters

Booksblanketsandahotbeverage Rebecca is super cute 🥹 6mo
TheAromaofBooks Woohoo!! Fabulous progress both reading and knitting!! I love the idea of a reading snake!! 6mo
Kitta I love Rebecca the reading snake!! I want to make one sometime. How many books are you planning on reading? Did you follow a pattern for her head? (edited) 6mo
See All 9 Comments
Chelsea.Poole This is great! 6mo
MaleficentBookDragon @Kitta I usually read between 52-63 books a year. I used a pattern for her head called Sweet Little Snake. It‘s free on Ravelry and I modified it to use DK weight yard to make her a little bigger. My inspiration is this woman‘s snake (she will be coming out with a pattern soon). https://www.instagram.com/reel/C4JSt_VvWUv/?igsh=ZTZja3FkZGZoZm1r 6mo
MaleficentBookDragon @Booksblanketsandahotbeverage thanks. I like her too. I made mistakes on her head but it‘s good enough for me. Maybe the stitches will smooth out if I steam block her. I was too impatient to block her, wait to dry , and then start the stripes. 6mo
Booksblanketsandahotbeverage She looks great to me :) 🐍 Gives her character 6mo
Kitta @MaleficentBookDragon amazing thanks! I‘ll look up the pattern. I feel think this would be more manageable than the reading tracking blankets I‘ve seen. I read around a book a week and was curious at how many rows per book you were doing. 6mo
MaleficentBookDragon @Kitta I‘m doing 5 rows for each book and 2 rows of the body color in between them. 6mo

So with my January #doublespin finished, Rebecca gets her second stripe of the year.
(adding a tongue makes her look a little less goose-like to me😊)
#knittersoflitsy #booksnake #litsycrafters

CatLass007 Booksnake? Love it! I don‘t knit. I tried but I had so many crochet projects going that I never had time to practice knitting. Where on earth did you find the pattern? I definitely think the addition of a tongue was the right choice. 7mo
