Early voting is open in NJ, and mail in drop boxes are plentiful. Here‘s your reminder to vote - I know we aren‘t the only ones with an important election this Tuesday.

And you may call me petty, but I argue I‘m consistent. If you voted to make America great again, you own what‘s happening in DC right now. You own the shutdown, you own what‘s happening to benefits and healthcare. Sit with that and do not engage with me. Sit in your bigotry.

The electoral college has quite literally NEVER worked. This is a vitally important read. Every law maker should have to read this book, at every level of government. Every high school student should have to read this book. Every college student should have to read it again. The “American Experiment” failed when the first president was elected.
👇🏻👇🏻👇🏻

GingerAntics For an afterthought the founding fathers agreed on quickly so they could just go home already, this shouldn‘t exist anymore. It‘s time we get rid of this thing and let people vote directly for the president or stop calling this country a democracy or a republic, because we are upholding neither with this system. #JesseWegman #LetThePeoplePickThePresident

AnnCrystal Truth! My mom and I have talked about this for years. The electoral college is an insult to the American People ✊🏼🤬✊🏼. 4w

GingerAntics @AnnCrystal the continental congress waited until the last minute to discuss how the president should be elected, so they were coming up with whatever “for now” just to go home. Then the very first election, it was corrupt in the exact way they worried it would be. Now, you‘d think they would have discussed after that, but wait, they did. They couldn‘t get the slave states to agree to one person one vote. 4w
AnnCrystal @GingerAntics just pathetically shameful 🥺🇺🇸😢. 4w
GingerAntics @AnnCrystal it is entirely shameful. They have tried 107 times to get rid of it and the closest they got was in the 1970s actually. 4w
AnnCrystal @GingerAntics Wow 😕🇺🇸🥺. 4w

The “founding fathers” had two basic views of having a single person in the presidency. Which do you think has worked out to be the most accurate, 239 years later?

Amiable Given that the current president is acting like a tyrant with the help of the other two branches of government, I‘d say that option 2 isn‘t the fail-safe that the founders had envisioned. 1mo
ravenlee I don‘t think they ever imagined that so many people would be complicit in this kind of takeover. Surely Congress would stand up for their own power, if not for the people, right? Surely the Supreme Court would hold the others accountable, right? 4w
GingerAntics @Amiable oh, it didn‘t even survive the first election. The people have tried to abolish it 107 times in our history. There is currently a movement to still use it, but make it void since we are obviously never getting rid of this thing. 4w
GingerAntics @ravenlee oh, it was doomed from the start. They had problems with the very first election. This book was a real trip. 4w

‘‘Tis the season of freshly sharpened pencils, lunchboxes, and back to school routines. My little one is starting JK this year (I‘m definitely 😢) and this got me thinking of teacher romances (where one or both MCs are teachers). Not Teacher/Student which is a whole trope in itself. Here is the link to vote: https://forms.gle/512c5FRpoGckjcLi7

repost for @RamsFan1963:

We have a very eclectic selection for June's #ClassicLSFBC. I think any of them would make for a enjoyable read or reread. As usual, the book with the most votes will be for June, and the next closest will be the choice for July. I'll announce the winners on Monday. #ClassicLSFBC
