Babyteeth Volume 1 | Donny Cates

“I Was a Teenage Apocalypse”
Sadie Ritter thought having a baby at sixteen was hard enough, but things can get worse. She finds out that her baby, Clark, may be the Antichrist or King of Hell, which opens up a whole new dimension of worse. I really liked this one. It ends abruptly so I‘m definitely going to have get the next volume soon. #Booked2019 #comicorgraphicnovel #GraphicNovel2019 #screamathon #screamathonphotochallenge #graveyard

Reggie So are we rooting for anyone in this comic? The human race? The mother? The antichrist? 1mo
Bookzombie @Reggie I guess at this moment, I‘m rooting for the mother, her father, and her kick-ass sister Helen (who is a little psycho), plus the antichrist. It‘s hard not to root for a baby when assassins come at him. Lol. 1mo
Reggie Lol, awesome!! 1mo

#Booked 2019 #Summer #ComicOrGraphicNovel

I loved this graphic non-novel, but it comes with a couple of caveats: first, if you aren‘t a dyed-in-the-wool hip hop fan, this may not be for you; second, if you‘re not interested in learning about ALL of the personalities involved in making hip hop what it is today, this may not be for you; finally, if you‘re looking for more detail (and perhaps fewer characters) about each artist and his or her ⬇️

gradcat ⬆️ (Cont.) contribution to the form, then this may not be for you. To read the history of hip hop in graphic form is fantastic, but I found myself more than once looking for more detail about the early progenitors on their websites or other sites. Still, the art is fantastic and it‘s great fun if this is your jam. 3mo
Cinfhen Hi!!! Awesome review 😎👍🏻I‘m sure the art would win out for me too♥️ 3mo
gradcat @cinfhen Thank you, and I do hope you are home, safe & sound in your own bed. ♥️ 2mo

Crazeedi Hey girlfriend, are you doing ok? Havent seen you on here,🤔 2mo
gradcat @Crazeedi I‘ve had company for the weekend, so I‘ve been a bit tied up. I did send you a longish email, before I sent the one where I had you down for the wrong birthday month—I hope you got it! I‘m only just now posting my review for the buddy read. Can you believe it?? 😂 2mo
Crazeedi @gradcat I'm sure I got it and probably didn't respond, so sorry! I had a couple rough days!! 2mo
gradcat @Crazeedi How thoughtless I can be sometimes! So sorry...I haven‘t even asked how you are doing. I really hope everything is okay. Are you feeling well? ♥️ 2mo

Tagged book read for #Booked2019 #ComicOrGraphicNovel the review by Neil Gaiman was lovely ... the book was only ‘So-So‘ for me ... lovely idea ! Graphics 🤷🏻‍♀️and my first graphic , so maybe I need to explore a bit.
All of my other summer reads were 5✨stars. Loving the challenge! 🙏🏻 favourites : BONE CLOCKS . &

TrishB Loved Bone Clocks too 😁 3mo
Cinfhen So glad you‘re enjoying the challenge ❣️❣️❣️I‘m not a fan of the graphic novel, but it‘s always nice to explore a new media 3mo

Saga, Vol. 1 | Brian K. Vaughan

I admit I was not looking forward to the #comicorgraphicnovel prompt for #booked2019. Saga blew me away! It‘s so good that I stayed up way past my bedtime so that I could finish the first four volumes in one day. I might be hooked on graphic novels now.

Cinfhen So glad u enjoyed this prompt!! I‘ve tried so many times to read comics/ GN but I just can‘t get into them 😩 3mo
BridgetteM @cinfhen I hear you! I have avoided graphic novels like the plague. This was my first foray. 3mo
Cinfhen Yay!!! I haven‘t tried Saga #MaybeOneDay 3mo

Exbrarian Saga and Paper Girls are solid choices for book readers who are reluctant to try Graphic Novels. 3mo
KathyWheeler I avoided graphic novels figuring I was far too old from them. Then, when I was 50, my much younger brother introduced me to Neil Gaiman‘s Sandman, which I loved. I found Saga and Joe Hill‘s Locke & Key, both of which are fantastic, by myself. Saga blows me away. In every issue. 3mo
KathyWheeler @Exbrarian Yes! I forgot about Paper Girls; it‘s great too. 3mo
BridgetteM @Exbrarian Thanks for the recommendation! Paper girls looks awesome. 3mo
BridgetteM @KathyWheeler 😊 Graphic novels by Neal Gaiman and Joe Hill? Sign me up! 3mo
KathyWheeler @BridgetteM Sandman was the first Gaiman I ever read. 3mo
Leftcoastzen Saga is wonderful! 3mo
BridgetteM @KathyWheeler It was American Gods for me. Sandman is going to be my next Neal Gaiman, for sure. 3mo

Runaways Vol. 1 | Rainbow Rowell

I read the original Runaways series back in high school and loved it. This revival was awesome and I‘m looking forward to the rest of the volumes, along with catching up on Hulu!
(Karolina is still my favorite)

This one was featured in ‘1000 Books to Read Before You Die‘ and caught my eye. A memoir, told through comics interspersed with prose, of the author‘s last few years with her parents, their health decline and death. Honestly this one hit close to home as my husband and I care for his aging parents and aunt. There was a lot of head nodding on my part, lots of laughs and even a few tears.⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ #Booked2019 #Booked2019summer #comicorgraphicnovel

What better time than a readathon to knock off my #comicorgraphicnovel for #booked2019? It‘s a quick read, and a palate cleanser between longer novels.

Unfortunately, I find that most graphic novels are not for me. This is no exception. It was interesting, but not creepy or scary, and the characters were just a bit over the top. I have no plans to continue the series 🤷🏻‍♀️

Eyelit Just as well, I don‘t even know that there are firm plans for continuation (much to my frustration, cause I liked this one 😂) 4mo
sprainedbrain @Eyelit I guess I don‘t have to feel bad about it then. 😂 4mo
BarbaraTheBibliophage Like all books, they‘re so hit or miss! 4mo
Cinfhen I‘ve tried this medium several times and it just doesn‘t work for me either 4mo
