I enjoyed this one a lot. A twisty murder mystery with an interesting cast of characters who all turned out to be not quite what they seemed. I didn‘t expect anything about the resolution, and I must have missed something because there was one aspect of it I still don‘t understand🤔 🤷🏻♀️ I realised part way through that I had read the author‘s debut, Greenlight, and didn‘t like it much. He‘s obviously improved 😆 #ozfiction

I really like Anna McNuff‘s audiobooks, but this book about her long run in New Zealand could have been set anywhere. So, good book but a bad choice for #FoodAndLit and #ReadingOceania24 Sorry #NewZealand I half a$$ed reading about your lovely country. I‘ll try to make it up to you later in the year.
This Aussie mystery was a lot of fun! Think ‘Knives Out‘ meets Richard Osman, with a healthy dose of meta-ness and a big old nod to classic era mysteries. I loved how each section was framed around a certain family member, and how the narrator broke the ‘fourth wall‘ giving the reader extra stuff along the way. I also didn‘t see most of the twists coming. Really looking forward to number 2 after seeing @Hooked_on_books review!
An interesting account of the impact of the US nuclear tests on the people of the #marshallislands.
In 1954 the US detonated a bomb that was a thousand times more powerful than Hiroshima- and the resulting fall-out decimated the islands and the lives of the inhabitants.
The audio narrator was a little bit robotic (maybe due to me listening at 1.8x) so I switched to digital print for the final 20% - much better.

The tension…. What a read. Justine and her classmates all adore their new teacher, Mrs Price. They all want to be her pet and Mrs Price is a manipulator and enjoying that a lot. Then the thefts start.
In between we are in current times, Justine is 42 and visiting her father in a nursing home.
I cannot say too much but will always wonder what exactly happened. I feel for Justine and I must read more by this author!

First book I read by this author and I will say I liked the writing style and the story, at least this one. There is a murder and people in the remote Highlands blame the wolves. Inti knows that this attack was not made by the wolves, then by who. She is working with a team to protect the wolves but this project is not well received by the community. But the story is more than that, is about Inti, who can be seen as unlikable character⬇️
The Gilbert and Ellice Islands were part of the British Empire from 1892 to 1976. The Gilberts include #kiribati and the Ellice Islands became #tuvalu, so I‘m using this book for both prompts for #readingoceania24.
Arthur Grimble was sent to the islands in 1914 as a colonial administrator and I was worried that the book would be very ‘colonial‘ but, although there were a few concerning tales, it seems as though he became very respected ⬇️
