Finished both Garden of Lamentations #audiobook & The Scholar this week. #myidealbookclub
November Road: read up ch 28 #botmbuddyread
Lilli de Jong: read up to book 7 #LilliRead
Started Silent Voices: on p. 140 #mysteryoftheweek

Reviewsbylola I need to read November Road. I thought Lilli was well done. 4w
Cinfhen Do you read a mystery a week??? I‘m having trouble with that genre lately. Every thriller feels like rinse, wash, repeat. Nothing original 😟any suggestions?? 4w
kspenmoll @Cinfhen I just finished The Scholar by Dervla Mc Tiernan, an author new to me. I enjoyed its themes, particularly the pharmaceutical background. Reminded me of an Deadly Cure, similar themes but set in the early stages (1899) of companies. That one leaves you hanging - author is lawrence Goldstone. 3w
kspenmoll Sometimes I just read cozys when I need a familiar escape from my life!!!! Sharon McCrumb is another author you might enjoy. (edited) 3w
Cinfhen Thanks for the recommendations 😁 3w

Thanks for the tags, @Addison_Reads and @sblbooks ! I wanted to use all books I already own for #myidealbookclub and here‘s what I picked. Half fiction, half nonfiction, and a couple of lighter picks to balance out the heavy topics and the chunkster.

What books would you choose for your book club?

Megabooks I‘d join!! 1mo
Hooked_on_books @Megabooks Thank you! ☺️ 1mo
Addison_Reads Excellent picks. Your bookclub would have lots to discuss. Sign me up. 😁 1mo

It took me a long time to do this, but I‘ve come up with a year 😁 I thought about my #reallifebookgroup and what books might be a albeit of a stretch for them (out of their comfort zones) and good discussion books.. plus just some likely good reads. 😁 Oh and I‘ve put them in order too... some obviously placed reads, I think... 🤔

Fun project! Thanks @Chrissyreadit for making me think! 😜😘

And fun idea @monalyisha ! #myidealbookclub

Chrissyreadit Nice! I would want to read many of your choices! 1mo

Thanks for the tag @Addison_Reads

If you were in charge of your book club's entire reading list, which 12 books would you choose for the year ahead?

Tag (if you have time): @JessClark78 @Nute @MsLeah8417 @DGRachel

#MyIdealBookClub @monalyisha

Here are my 12.

flying_monkeys I selected books I'd most want to discuss with other readers... even though I've never been in a book club IRL. These are all books I've already read -- choosing from my TBR list would've taken me a year to whittle it down to only 12.

Feminism for the 99% : A Manifesto by multiple authors
The Antelope Wife by Louise Erdrich
Affinity by Sarah Waters
With the Fire on High by Elizabeth Acevedo
Heart Berries: A Memoir by Terese Marie Mailhot
flying_monkeys The Beauty by Aliya Whiteley
What It Means When a Man Falls from the Sky: Stories by Lesley Nneka Arimah
Confessions by Kanae Minato
The Book of Phoenix by Nnedi Okorafor
Ancestor Stones by Aminatta Forna
When the Elephants Dance by Tess Uriza Holthe
Friday Black: Stories by Nana Kwame Adjei-Brenyah
Addison_Reads Awesome picks! I found several on your list I haven't read yet, but now I want to. 💚 1mo

@Addison_Reads thanks for the tag. These are the books I‘ve read in the last year that I‘ve wanted to talk, cry, gush, argue, and smile about with other people in the past year so these would be my bookclub picks. #myidealbookclub

Addison_Reads @Reggie Great choices! I've only read Sula, but all the others are on my TBR. I love that you picked ones you've read that left such emotional impressions. 1mo
