99¢ Special Prescription: If you want to kill your boss, you need therapy! Instead, read this fun and thrilling account of someone who “done it.” This is your prescription-thriller therapy. LOL! https://bit.ly/4b1JHLJ

My #library has more donations than we‘ll ever sell at our booksale and since we‘re going to be having an #alteredbook contest this summer, I made an example. Everything is made from the book, except the mini book covers, which I printed out, and the little paintings, which I printed out and glued onto some plastic buttons I had laying around. And since it‘s a Strike book, I was able to sneak my signature in it 🥸

Celebrating #NationalLibraryWeek & honoring all librarians in this brave new world of having to defend the right to read. Thomas Hughes Free Public Library pic is from yesterday's visit to Rugby, TN. The #library opened in 1882 with over 5000 donated books. The utopian community didn't succeed, but the library & 7000 books remain for visitors to peruse & appreciate. Like her memoir, Dolly‘s responses to her readers are very conversational. Reading them feels like talking to an old friend. Her advice is very practical and real, but she‘s never judgmental. She seems to really understand what her readers are asking and gives relatable advice.

What a tragic yet captivating tale!

I added this book to my “To Read” shelf on Goodreads way back in March of 2015. Now 9 years later I finally read it and I‘m so glad I did.

There is nothing happy about this story, but it‘s beautiful and intriguing in its own way. Immediately upon starting, I was pulled right into the story.

What a gem of a book!

I am personally not a fan of positive affirmations. They‘re just not my thing and I find them overly optimistic. Disappointing affirmations are more up my alley so I ended up loving this book.

What an insightful look into the world of Barbie!

This book was originally published in the 90s, but this edition has a new preface which does discuss the Barbie movie. In the preface, the author also discusses that she left the book unchanged so it‘s a large reflection of the 90s.

What a wonderful collection of essays on reading!

This book is a collection of personal essays on the impact of books and reading on the author‘s life. I found many of them relatable. One of my favorites was “To Break The Rules” (pg. 65) which discusses how there is no right way to be a “Good Reader.” We should read how and what we want. I wholeheartedly agree!
