The Exiles: A Novel | Christina Baker Kline

Here are my historical fiction picks for #LMPBC #GroupJ

Let me know if you are interested in any of these choices. Thanks!

I realize that I have no idea how to tag additional books on Litsy. Tips?

Laughterhp You can add them to the comments by clicking the bookmark type tag in the comments. There is a bookmark and a spoiler mark and then you can look for the book. 3mo
Laughterhp I haven‘t read any of these and they all sound really good! My top choices would be The Exiles and The Engineer‘s Wife. 3mo
BookBosomed1 @Laughterhp That is helpful! Thank you. 3mo

BookBosomed1 @Laughterhp I have heard that The Exiles is really good 3mo
kellyann28 I haven't ready any! I would go for The Book of Lost Names or The Forest of Vanishing Stars. I would happily read any of them! 😀 3mo
BookBosomed1 @kellyann28 I've never done LMPBC before so checking my understanding - do I pick one of these books based on ya'll's feedback and then I pass that along at the end of November or is there a different process? 3mo
kellyann28 Yes, the choice is entirely up to you though! So you'll read your book in November and then mail it to the next person that's on the address list that was sent to your email. You'll send to the same person each month until you get your original book back! 3mo
kellyann28 And also, in this we mark up the books: Make comments on our thoughts, underline, highlight, or whatever your heart desires 3mo
BookBosomed1 @kellyann28 got it. Thanks for the response! 3mo
kellyann28 Of course! I've done this for two or three years now so let me know if you have any other questions! 3mo
ncsufoxes I haven‘t read any of them & they all sound interesting 3mo
BookBosomed1 @kellyann28 @ncsufoxes @Laughterhp I am going to go with The Engineer‘s Wife. I want to learn about the Brooklyn Bridge! 😉 3mo
kellyann28 Sounds great! 3mo

Pickpick

3.5 ⭐️ I didn‘t realize this was a cozy mystery until quite a bit into it lol. It is a fast read. The writing is smooth, enjoyable and I was actually surprised how quickly it read it.

A young girl from an aristocratic background falls on hard times and by pure chance (and some lying) becomes a cook for the queen of England. There‘s lots of cooking, mentions of class (superiors / inferiors lol) and of course a mystery. #LMPBC #GROUPJ #ROUND10

Hey #LMPBC #GroupJ for #Round10 @Wife @Allylu @Hestapleton let me know if any of these look good! 🙂

Update: Our pick for this round is The Water Dancer by Ta-Nehisi Coates. Yay!

See All 13 Comments
Hestapleton These all look so good! I‘m not a huge Lisa Wingate fan, but would honestly be thrilled with any. If I had to rank: the Mountains Sing, The Water Dancer, A Long Petal of the Sea, The Mercies, The Wolf and the Watchman, The Book of Lost Friends. 1y
Allylu I would say 1) The Water Dancer, 2) The Mountains Sing, 3) A Long Petal of the Sea. 1y
Wife 1st Mercies, 2nd Water Dancer. But any of these would be fine with me. 1y
Hazel2019 @Hestapleton @Wife @Allylu how about the water dancer since it seems to be at the top or near the top of the list for all? 1y
Wife Sounds good to me 🌹 1y
Hestapleton Perfect! 1y
Allylu Sure, sounds good. 1y
