One of my all-time favourite books is on the banned books list. I'm really enjoying this Audible edition during #bannedbooksweek2023
I fully support #freedomtoread and endorse all endeavours to turn the tide on archaic censorship.

The whole point of writing and literature is to open our minds to new thoughts and experiences we might not ordinarily have access to. ⬇️

AllDebooks Whole worlds, characters, creatures, adventures, ideas and knowledge await the turn of a page. There is no such thing as a prescribed reading list. Each reader has the ability to read and understand text, forming their own opinions, contextualising and debating. All of this helps make us more compassionate, empathetic people. Reading feeds our very humanity, or it should.
The banned books in America makes me sick to my stomach. ⬇️

AllDebooks We need to fight this and stop the rot now. I think a child would be done more harm from elitist, narrow-minded, toxic views of what's 'normal', than they would reading a book that makes them think. See Alan Cummings video on how his book about his 2 dogs was banned because they have 2 Dads!!

Look to see how you can help and get involved.

Much like these Rebel Spider Lilies who jumped the fence; I don't like being told what to do. So I'm always excited for Banned Books Week. Celebrate The Freedom to Read Sep 27 - Oct 3. I'll be rereading my favorite #3 and finishing up my #top10challengedbooks by reading #2 Beyond Magenta. ✊

The Missouri Library Association is fighting against Missouri House Bill 2044 which would appoint a “parent group” to pass into law censorship of library books. I can only hope the librarians and library patrons who fight against this censorship win this battle. #censorship #freedomtoread #ala #ireadbannedbooks

Devoured this on the plane and train into JFK and Brooklyn while knitting away on the perfect travel project. #knittinglittens

Great story and characters. I love that the author is careful to explore the layers of this issue and the various motives (both well-intentioned and not) that drive people to challenge and ban books. #freedomtoread

"My point is, it takes a special person to cry over a book. It shows compassion as well as imagination...Don't ever lose that."
