#pemberlittens #thewatsonreadalong #chapter17 Robert arrives and reams Emma out for not marrying Lord Osborne. He suggests she is selfish, that she is a burden for return after 15 years, that she will end up in a workhouse, and that she was not smart enough to handle the whole situation. I find Albert unbearably cruel and unhelpful. He only cares about himself. I get Emma needs to marry, but this chapter was quite upsetting!

Ruthiella Robert is a terrible older brother! 2y
BarkingMadRead Ugh I hate Robert! 2y

Ugh the Character Names in this book!🤦🏻‍♀️
Did Emily use the same names over and over on purpose to confuse the reader? Or did she use up all her imagination in the story and couldn't be bothered with coming up with different names?
For instance Isabella names her son Linton and her Edgar is often called just by his last Name of Linton.

Crinoline_Laphroaig I've been listening to my chapter the night before so I'm ready to post in morning. Had to get out my print copy because I was so confused even after mulling it over last night. Also where is Isabella's son Linton at the end of this Chapter? Do we not know yet? 2y

megnews For the last several chapters, I hadn‘t had to consult the family tree again. But this chapter I‘ve looked back several times even for one sentence to try to get them all placed again. I think it‘s not helping that different people are in different places between Wuthering heights and the grange. 2y
CrowCAH Agreed. The double names does get confusing, especially on a first read. But in re-read it gets a little easier. 2y
mollyrotondo So first Catherine dies. Then six months later Hindley dies. Isabella around the time of Hindley‘s death gives birth to Linton. When Linton is 12 years old Isabella dies. Can anyone fact check me? 2y
mollyrotondo Also do we know how Heathcliff earned his money? He gave Hindley large amounts of money toward his gambling debts and now owns Wuthering Heights so he is very well off. But how does he have all this money? Did I miss something? 2y
TheAromaofBooks @mollyrotondo - I think you're right with your timeline. And I also think Heathcliff has been vague about the money?? There may have been some implication that he was in the navy or militia or some such?? 2y
Bookwormjillk I‘m glad everyone is as confused as I am 😂 I‘m enjoying the ride though. 2y
Crinoline_Laphroaig @Bookwormjillk that's the important part! 2y
ElizaMarie Ha yeah! Like she came up with 3 names and was like yes! The best and only names forever! It's so frustrating! 2y
Lollymya I am so far behind…..I have some serious catch up to do. However I am glad I am not the only one who‘s confused. I feel like I am back in high school and need someone to explain what‘s going on. Lol 2y
Lollymya However i am glad I am reading though. 2y

After begging to stay in town longer so she can spend time with the Tilney family, Catherine learns they‘ll be leaving town soon too.

She is cheered once she hears she will be able to be their guest at....wait for it...Northanger Abbey!

nanuska_153 The excitement when the title finally appears in the text! 3y

“And now, my dear Jane, what have you got to say on behalf of the interested people who have probably been concerned in the business? Do clear them too, or we shall be obliged to think ill of somebody.” Jane and Lizzy‘s dialogue always makes me smile. While I find myself favoring Lizzy in temperament, I think we could all use a little Jane on our shoulder. #pemberlittens #chapteraday #chapter17

#chapter17 #manipulation
Well I think we all know that Harry was manipulated into taking part in the Triwizard Tournament. And here is my manipulation of the names thrown from the Goblet of Fire 🏆🔥
Bonus: I'm all caught up!

#hpchapteraday #chapter17 #love This last illustration sums up the love nicely - the entire school, minus Slytherin of course, is feeling the love for these four who managed to save Gryffindor from dead last and won the House Cup. It's Harry's best day, surrounded by people he loves and who love him, finally a part of a family where he is accepted.
