This book goes so far beyond most other vampire stories, weaving together desire and rage, narrowing in on the interactions of three very different women who are all seeking the same thing: the power and freedom to love who they love.
Everything about this book, from the characters and setting to the prose itself, just blew me away. 100% recommend!

This book is fantastic if you love novels that are mostly vibes and not a lot of plot. That‘s my favorite so I LOVED this book! Interconnecting characters Maria, Sabine, Lottie, and Alice weave together into a book that spans centuries. Lesbian vamps! “Bury my bones in the midnight soil, plant them shallow and water them deep, and in my place will grow a feral rose, soft red petals hiding sharp white teeth.”

Finished this today and I have to say I really liked it 😊📖

Waiting until October to start this one has been a true test of my patience and self-control!

Forgot to post my August wrap-up. Favorites were Bury Our Bones in the Midnight Soil and Can‘t Get Enough

The Halloween vibes are strong with this book, so I‘m going with it!

A beautiful gothic novel that begins in Spain in 1532. And it‘s about vampires. Not like Dracula, but stunning beings who search for something more. An epic story that goes past 500 pages and makes you feel everything. I‘ve been waiting for VES to give us something akin to Addie LaRue and she‘s finally done it!!! Book #73 in 2025 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

#readingbracket2025 Going with the new VE Schwab book this month as my fav! So many good new releases this summer. Also, I cannot believe it is already August.

I completely agree with everyone‘s review of this “toxic lesbian vampire” novel. It has some pacing problems and took me forever to read but I was trying to enjoy the atmospheric writing. I loved the various POVs and I‘m still thinking about the ending. It‘s my fist Schwab so I‘ll def have to check out some of her other novels and series. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I‘m pretty bummed to say this fell flat for me. Overall, it‘s fine - but did it need to be 500+ pages? Especially given how repetitive it was? It was a slow march to the end and getting there felt not at all worth the effort. A+ for sexy sapphic vampires without a doubt, but I‘d argue there needs to be actual arc, too.

This one‘s middling, but also the best thing I‘ve read by Schwab whose style is perhaps just not for me. I wish there was more ending, and much less beginning, or maybe just less fluff in general since the whole thing ended up feeling oddly like reading an anime filler episode.

Finally got my hands on this one, and am psyched. Started it about an hour ago and am already 100 pages in. V.E. Schwab always gets me with her characters, and these ladies so far are doing it again. #buryourbonesinthemidnightsoil #veschwab #vampires #lgbtq

June has been so busy (and hot 🥵) - I‘ve lost control of my reading streak. Determined to get back on track over the holiday weekend.

Unpopular opinion, but this one sorta dragged for me. Angry lesbian vampires are fun, but I really needed some more plot here. Although loved the ending.

Took about a hundred pages to warm up but this vampire story is truly crackling now. 🩸

Two chapters in and I'm loving it! Just wish there were more episodes of Interview With The Vampire to watch as I read through💝

A new, unique vampire story with multiple intertwining POV‘s. I was engaged and liked the overall story but there were a few elements that kept me from loving it. Some of the timelines felt long a bit boring. The repetition of the title throughout made start to think, ok we get it already! A little additional editing would make this a more consistently engaging story. I still recommend for fans of vampire stories & fans of the author.⬇️

From the moment she could talk about this book, Schwab called it her toxic lesbian vampires book & that is just about the most succinct, accurate description I‘ve ever seen about a book. These vampires don‘t sparkle—they are hungry, angry, wanting, & how their lives intersect is revealed slowly before reaching an inevitable conclusion. Told from three perspectives, this one gripes you from the beginning & keeps building. I enjoyed it a lot.

When the book arrives a day before its official release…I sorta feel like it‘s a sign I should start reading it… 😂😬😀
