Enjoying this delicious caramel cheesecake made by my sister in law while I‘m reading Liar‘s Crown. I haven‘t been on here due to working 80-100 hours a week during the Covid, plus couple of major illnesses and was hit by a drunk driver back in November 2022. I‘m healing and changing my priorities. So I‘m back! Happy Easter, everyone!

All in all, a good start to the year.

Meren, secret twin of the future queen, has one purpose. To be the queen‘s body double when a dangerous enemy sends an unexpected gift. She didn‘t count on also getting kidnapped.

A strong start. Interesting magic, political intrigue, fascinating world building. Then a speed run through lots of my YA Dislike boxes, & it lost me. With uneven pacing & a cliffhanger ending that feels like the middle of the book, I was deeply disappointed. 🌕🌕🌗🌑🌑

Started this as an audiobook and then switched to written for those times that I didn‘t have headphones and needed to know what was happening without bothering everyone. A unique idea involving shadow magic!

I loved this story and I cannot wait for the sequel. Great characters with a couldn't-put-it-down plot.

I thoroughly enjoyed our January pick for #WhimsicalReadsBookClub!! The writing could have been a bit more descriptive, but I still give it a 4/5! Great plot though! Definitely gonna pick up the 2nd one when it drops this year. 💕 Thanks to everyone who read with us this month!

I finished listening to this while traveling today and found it to be just ok. I just didn‘t feel invested in any of the characters and lost interest in the story as it progressed. I won‘t be continuing this series.

I was drawn to this book by the beautiful cover. In the beginning I felt a lot was happening but I will say that the world didn't draw me in as much as I'd hoped. Their wasn't enough description and towards the middle I felt like it dragged on the wrong details while more important details were left out! Towards the end the whole political aspect of it had me a bit lost and withdrawn at times. Keep reading in comments....

I‘m going to have to try reading this at a later time. I‘ve heard great things about it but I just couldn‘t get into it. I have a lot going on so I‘m not going to bail just hibernate it till later. 🐻

Thought this would be right up my alley, but I found some plot points unnecessary and out of place. A story of twin sisters which of course becomes about mistaken identities and all types of secrets and betrayals. I‘ll probably read the next one in the series when it comes out but it was only good not great. #seriesread2022 @TheSpineView

As soon as I heard the word “retelling” I immediately requested The Liar‘s Crown by Abigail Owen on NetGalley. Probably my favorite aspect is that the plot is not lost to the romance. The romance was well thought out, and more importantly, the plot was the main focus of the novel. Furthermore, Meren was a phenomenal character! She felt so realistic and very three-dimensional. The entire book was written so eloquently, & the ending was everything!
