Reading goal achieved… reading The Lost Summers of Newport after visiting Rosecliff (think 1974 Movie the Great Gatsby) in Newport while sitting on the beach close by in Rhode Island. I may have leveled up as a book nerd.

On my way to Rhode Island so thought this would be a good read. Took in a lot of history… now enjoying a read on a branch of the Erie Canal.
I read 5 books for #booked2023 during the second quarter of the year. My Calamity Jane was alright, but my least favorite of the bunch.
1 My Calamity Jane #AnyPartOfATrilogy
3 Last Night at the Telegraph Club #QuietYABook
4 I See You #BookDescribedWithTheWordsStretchTwistOrBalance
5 Station Eleven. #AboutAPandemic

Here are this month selections. The Lost Summers of Newport was added on a whim. I'll be attending a meeting in Newport, RI in a few weeks, so I thought it would be fun to try listening to a story on the way out. The Woman in Cabin 10 had been on my TBR for too long, and #authoramonth is a good excuse to finally get around to it. Hopefully, I can stick to the plan.

Book 54 for 2022. I went in blind on this book. It follows three women in three different time periods. All three of the women are connected by the house. It was a good read and it wasn't confusing jumping timelines.
Day 6:
Finished 50% of The Lost Summers of Newport…4⭐️so far

4/5 stars ✨ I‘ve read better from this group.
This took a little bit to get into but once I did, I really enjoyed it. It revolves around Sprague Hall, a mansion in Newport, RI, and 3 women (1899, 1957 and 2019) who are connected to it in one way or another.
7-19-22: My 69th finished book of 2022! 3 authors tackle 3 time periods in this historical fiction account of Sprague Hall in Newport. 1899: Ellen, a music teacher is hired to teach the heiress, Maybelle, to sing for a prince. 1957: Lucky is stuck in a loveless marriage pining for another while planning the Tiffany Ball. 2019: Andie, the host of Makeover Mansions, is trying to learn all the secrets of Sprague Hall. It came together nicely.
Really enjoying this book! Not sure how much reading I‘ll get done in the next two weeks. We‘re headed to France to meet up with our daughter and her husband. They‘re coming from Germany.
Meh. Confusing. Unclear. But. Fun characters.
Thunder is done for now. Up next for bookclub…

Not enough character development in this fun summer novel by three top authors, but the interesting plot kept my ears engaged. The narrators were 🤩
In 1899, Ellen is hired to teach a Newport, RI socialite to sing arias to capture a prince. In 1957, Lucky is caught in a loveless marriage in the same mansion but may find escape with a handsome historian. In 2019, Andie is hosting an HGTV show looking into the secrets of the mansion and its owners.
This was everything I expect from a multi-timeline family-secrets story from Beatriz Williams. In the midst of reading though I was a bit weirded out by what I thought was a familial connection of Lucky to Stuy. I backtracked to understand Mabele was a stepsister to her selfish brother. It‘s sometimes the little things that change one‘s connection to a story.
I love how these three authors can write three different timelines and have them seamlessly come together telling a story of family, secrets and a house that is a character in and of itself. Highly recommend this book for all summer reading lists. #bookspin #travelthroughbooks #rhodeisland #bigjunereadathon @TheAromaofBooks @Clwojick

Another marvelous tale with the house being the center of the story and a house that sounds amazing. 5/5

A perfect read for the beginning of summer ☀️🕶⛱🩱Even though I read this while our temps were only in the mid-60s, you are totally transported to Newport during the summers of the late 1800‘s, mid 1950‘s and present day. The 3 W‘s have another hit!! 😁👍
