This is my current light read and by light I mean it‘s not 1400 pages like A Suitable Boy and will be finished in a blink

Not sure how to rate this. It was an okay read, but I'd figured out the plot very early on and then just stayed to see whether I was right.

⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️.5 This book is about the power of writing one's own story. I recommend it for readers who are seeking a lighthearted read and/or readers who love reading books about the power of reading. If you liked Phaedra Patrick's other books (e.g., The Curious Charms of Arthur Pepper), you'll likely find this book charming. This book would make for an enjoyable vacation or beach read. Although much of the story seemed fairly far- fetched, the connections were all explained in the end and then it all made sense. It was an enjoyable read.

The beginning was harder to get through but a turning point at the 20%mark made it a great read. The similies are strong and the choice of words so perfect. I really liked the protagonist and found that even the not so easy to like characters were done well.

One of the things I like about Patrick‘s books is you know going in that, while there will be conflict, the protagonist will be okay in the end. Several people on Goodreads said this book was too similar to The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo; I haven‘t read that book so it didn‘t matter. I enjoyed this book for what it was — a nice, comfortable story. I started And Now She‘s Gone on my evening walk. #audiowalk

I had the plot pegged 90% correctly halfway through and almost abandoned but wanted the validation of being right so I kept reading. Not as good as Arthur Pepper but also different enough it's hard to compare the two.

It‘s hard for me to pass up on a book-inspired story so I placed a library hold even though I had low expectations for this one. I really liked the last quarter of the book and also how seamlessly the literary references were written into the story. I just don‘t think the first 3/4 had enough there there.

marleed I did have fun goggling about beans on toast! 2mo
MyNamesParadise Good to know! Thanks! I placed a hold for this at the library. 2mo
marleed @MyNamesParadise I almost gave it a pick because of the last quarter but decided the beginning was just too ho-hum for me. 1mo

Apparently I need to go swimming earlier than noon. It wasn‘t supposed to rain until 2:00 here, so I took a quick walk, cooled down, and then went swimming. I‘d swum 300 yards before the lifeguard said they were closing the pool because of lightning in the area. 😞. At least I did get a walk and a listen in. I don‘t know how Liv is going to be able to keep her secret; she‘s already almost told her husband several times. #audiowalk

I woke up early this morning, and, instead of doing my usual thing (going back to sleep), I got up and went for a walk. Then came back and worked for awhile, and then took my husband to the doctor. Came out to it pouring down rain. I‘m exhausted and am glad it‘s Friday. I did enjoy seeing the heron take off and fly though. #audiowalk

This is my new walking book. A famous writer dies and leaves instructions that her cleaning lady is to finish her last book, and no one except her attorney and Liv (the cleaning lady) is to know that she‘s dead for 6 months. Can Liv accomplish this? We‘ll see. #audiowalk

I‘ve enjoyed the other Phaedra Patrick books I‘ve read and while this one was okay, it seemed to lack the warmth, charm, and humor of her other books. Ironically it made me think of the heroine Liv critiques to Essie. Interesting concept, and Liv was fine, but that special spark was missing. Though it explored personal growth, and following dreams, you knew it would all work out so there wasn‘t much suspense.

2.5 STARS - This book looked like it was perfect for me but was weak in many areas. I loved Patrick's earlier book Library of Lost & Found but I struggled to get through this book due to its characters and contrived story.

I enjoyed a few hours to myself yesterday and got to stroll slowly though B&N…and did I stroll. It was lovely, and I came home with these 4 titles…a little overboard, but good therapy. 😉💜
