A Noble Radiance: (Brunetti 7) | Donna Leon
10 posts | 16 read | 4 to read
Commissario Brunetti is faced with another dark mystery. In a small village at the foot of the Italian Dolomites, the gardens of a deserted farmhouse have lain untouched for decades. But the new owner, keen for renovations to begin, is summoned urgently to the house when his workmen disturb a macabre grave. Wild animals have done their grisly work and the human corpse is badly decomposed. Then a valuable signet ring is found close by, providing the first vital clue. It leads Commissario Guido Brunetti right to the heart of aristocratic Venice, to a family still grieving for its abducted son ...

My favorite in the series so far…I think the writing is brilliant, and the study of human emotions is exquisite. Brunetti reinvestigates a kidnapping when a body that could be the victim is found. But, as always, things are not as they seem, so Brunetti has to parse out the truths from the lies. An excellent addition to the series. #192025 #1998

The seventh Commissario Brunetti mystery was another winner. Lots of family intrigue in this installment, and a reminder that, just because a murder has been solved doesn‘t mean it‘s always a satisfying conclusion for the sleuth.

Right now, I feel like all I want to read a the series of my favorite characters... so I turned to Commissario Brunetti after many many years.

Listening to the audio book while making decent progress on my puzzle. I started this last Thursday or so.

The thing I like most about the Commissario Brunetti mysteries is I get the impression our detective is a decent man who cares about his cases. This is the 7th in the series. Leon always tells a good story, Brunetti loves his family, good food , and the story takes place in and around beautiful Venice.Tom Tom approved. #catsoflitsy

#RedRoseSeptember #NeverForget Donna Leon often weaves references to real history in with her mysteries.

Cinfhen 😢😢😢I really appreciate when authors include history into a story. #LiveAndLearn and #NeverForget 5y

gradcat I love her books, and have read quite a few of them. That is a particularly sad moment in her books. 😞 5y

Standard book in Leon‘s Guido Brunetti series. I like the fact that so far none of the endings are typical of those in a mystery series #2019
