Birthday #bookhaul, featuring bookish puzzles!
Tulipomania and the Golden Age of Dutch Art entwined together so tightly that one can't tell the difference between lust and greed.
The climax brings to mind the moment when George Bailey of Its A Wonderful Life becomes unhinged toward Uncle Billy.
An innocent act brings the downfall of several characters.

He has seen cities to dream about: the gleaming domes of Constantinople; the ravishing, mirrored streets of Venice, corrupt and seductive, like Amsterdam's wanton sister.

Did anyone watch Masters of the Air - Tom Hanks and Steve Spielberg miniseries of "The Bloody Hundredth"? My favorite part was in the last episode when they did not fill the plane with bombs but food parcels for the Dutch even though there were still Nazis in the Netherlands. After they made the drop off, they saw tulips formed in the words, "Thanks, Yanks." It still fills me with tears.
My roommate brought this beauty home from his trip to the supermarket! So beautiful ! My allergies are opposed but she‘s so beautiful!!
Thanks for the tags @Eggs and @TheSpineView !!!

1. I figured out the entire last half the books plot when there was still over 50 pages left to the book! I literally threw the book down when I was finished.
2. black•ish
3. fennel-raisin toast with a schmear of avocado topped with crisp bacon slices
4. EST
5. Green Blackness
This book was soooo bad! None of the characters‘ motivations made any sense, the epigraphs throughout the chapters were super eclectic, and so on. The only good thing about this book was that it was a quick read. Had it not been a book club pick, I wouldn‘t have bothered.
🌟🌟 I love her writing style but the story was way too easy to figure out. There was little mystery and no thrills.
I enjoyed this a great deal historical fiction with a twist ending. I could barely put it down!
I did like it, but, as it happens with these books which are similar in subject, themes and time period (The Miniaturist, Girl in Hyacinth Blue), my first temptation is to compare them all with Girl with a Pearl Earring, which is SO exquisite and probably my favorite art-inspired book. Oh, forget my ramble, pick it up, it's fast and entertaining.
This was a gift and I read it on a plane journey. I really enjoyed it. Love books that take true facts and make a fiction story. Loved it all. I watched the movie when I got home. The book was way better. @MrsMalaprop
Relaxing in one of my favourite cities. This was my plane read. I would have finished it but got seduced into watching a movie. I‘ll get it finished today. Though @MrsMalaprop once again I feel like I‘ve read it before. 😊.
It is another of my birthday presents from last year. I try to read one a month .

This book was ok. Short, predictable read. A bit boring really. I'm wondering if the movie was any better. Has anyone seen It?
Always a good sign when you can buy tulips in the supermarket again. No way near the end of winter but the end is in sight!

Requested this one through ILL, but it wasn't available in our library's network - so they purchased a copy. My library is cool.
First book I've bailed on in years, but only seemed to be interested in one thing and that isn't my type of book!
My #FeistyFeb pick for today is the cover of my current book club pick.
Utterly enthralled with this cover art. Tulips are my favorite flowers and I can't wait to delve into this historical fiction beauty.
I read Tulip Fever this year because of my interest with Tulipomania and Dutch and Flemish art. It's really more of a soap opera love story than anything else, but I thoroughly enjoyed it for what it is; I read it in two days. I'm interested in seeing how it translates to film. #artrelatedbooks #seasonsreadings2016
This popped up in my book bargains today and I remember how much I liked it when it came out. Might have to add to the TBR mountain before the movie comes out!
Perfect read to prepare for a trip to the Netherlands. Paintings inspiring a love story set amidst the tulipomania craze in the 17th century.
🤩 Happy Birthday 🥳🎂🍰📚💝. 3d
