So predictable and lame, not really sweet at all. MC Waverly is such a stereotypical bitch, I couldn‘t even like her. MC Marshall is better, but one-dimensional.

Not what I expected from this author. Maybe she was trying a new approach. I've loved her other work but this one fell short. It lacked passion, and I felt like the concept could have been explored much further. Kind of bummed because I was very much looking forward to this book and it was hard to find.

Hm. This book would be really hard to explain to someone. I liked the characters - some people probably hate Waverly but I felt drawn to her fucked-up-ness - but I'm still just confused by much of the plot. The candle stuff - they basically were like "Whoa this is weird how is this happening" & then just forgot about it. Like, what. And why was she so averse to a relationship? "Because" is not enough. But it had the seeds of something great. 3/5 ⭐

Now you can finally go on dates, like someone who is not destined to end life alone under a blanket of cats.

It's strange, how everyone is always turning to stare at latecomers, like just this once, there will be a mechanized dinosaur or a rhinoceros standing in the doorway, instead of some slacker who was smoking out by the baseball diamond and lost track of time.

I know next to nothing about this book, but my YA aficionado friend Amanda liked it, so that works! #nowreading

Marshall's parts were epic. Super slow start to this book and Waverly's beginning is a little pretentious. I think, however, this book has a lot of good points about how peer pressure can effect someone's social life.

This book started off a little haughty, but Marshall's parts are so amazingly written. Love the rambling. Reminds me of Cole from the Shiver series.

Waverly doesn't feel anything. She's a popular, perfect straight-A student at her high school. She also doesn't sleep. Marshall feels too much. He's a once-promising student turned slacker with a bad home life who self-medicates with drugs and alcohol. But at night, they meet in a hazy, quasi-dreamlike state and can be whoever they want to be. An atmospheric novel about love and belonging.

"Or maybe that‘s just the resentment, echoing inside me—how mad I get every time I‘m rewarded for being the person people want and not the person I am."

I liked this one a lot, I think because of how much I identified with the main character This book has characters that are seriously messed up emotionally, with no absolutley no idea how to handle it or where to get help. However, it develops and fleshes them out without becoming an issue book.

In high school you tend to either work on figuring out who you are or work to find ways to hide who you are. Waverly and Marshall choose the second option, she by being perfect and he with drugs and alcohol. When Waverly's experiments with insomnia cures land her in Marshall's bedroom they both begin to see beyond the other's armor. While many typical themes are covered, Waverly is such an interesting character that she made them new. #litsyatoz

This may go down as the best Valentine's Day ever! @Yellowpigeon took my breathe away with these amazing gifts. Two books that are straight from the top of my TBR list and the cutest stickers. I also have a slight lip balm addiction so The Shakespearean set is perfection. I am just floored by this awesomeness. Look, I know this is one most people loved. I wanted to love it! It took me a long time to get into it, and I did end up enjoying it and being bummed that it was over. It bugged me that the fantastical stuff was never explained! I really loved the characters and thought she did a great job with the social hierarchy and stress of high school. The astral projecting seemed unnecessary and out of place in an otherwise solid story.

This was one of those dreamy books that makes you want to fall inside it. The characters are beautifully written and it's heart wrenching to watch Waverly and Marshall dance around each other in their real lives. I'm so excited to pick up more books by Yovanoff and I'm so glad that this was my first read by here.

My 2016 favorites highlight for today are all of the fantastic teen contemporaries (and one magical realism and one Sherlock reboot) I read this year. I feel like this year was made for me on this front. Shuffle, Repeat was probably the most generic but each had something a little special about them. I'd be hard pressed to pick a favorite. I'm leaning toward Places but Girl vs U & The Only Thing Worse & It's Not Me tie for second. 😉

Waverly is perfect. Perfect grades, popular in school and she hasn't slept in days. Marshall is FAR from perfect. Gets wasted on school nights, barely scraping by to graduate and does not give a hoot. Far from "perfect" Waverly's world. Until one night she's dreams herself into his bedroom. In her dreams the rules have changed. During her days, Waverly will have to decide if it's worth losing everything for a boy who barely exists.

I was talking books with my stylist tonight and she told me about this book she's reading, explains the plot, and I say it sounds right up my alley. I look it up on Goodreads and I'd shelved it to be read already! As if her bookish mind weren't fab enough, she goes and makes me look this good. I'm still reading this in the little time I have in my life to read, but I'm loving it so much I can't even explain. This is the type of love story I love.

I am enamored with this story about the "perfect" girl who is afraid to feel and the boy who self-medicates because he feels too much.

The writing is just gorgeous.

I think everyone should have someone who loves them tell them this.

I absolutely love the language in this book.

I've always loved Brenna Yovanoff and her latest book just reaffirms that love.
