London in the 1850´s. Mary comes to London to work as a maid. She becomes embroiled in the Pre-Raphaelite art scene and re-invents herself as Persephone becoming the muse of a talented painter. We are given glimpses into both Londons art scene and the world of the maids. Despite being 400 pages long it felt short. Mary is a great character surrounded by an array of fleshed out side characters. Definitely recommended!

I wasn't expecting to love this book, it creeped up on me. Inclusive and relevent story. Especially refreshing to find a book with a female and male mc who love each other but aren't in love. One of the few books I've read with a character on the asexual spectrum.

I'm disappointed in this as I was hoping for more. The first third was good but sadly it didn't manage to hold all the way through.

Well...not bad exactly but quiet predictable. One of those stories that goes in one ear and out the other.

Just as in Sarah Crossans previous book One this book is written in free verse which carries with it it's own set of challenges for the authors. They pulled it off brilliantly. I found it interesting that how Nicu's character spoke in broken English. I've seen this being compared to Eleanor & Park and while I wouldn't go that far it was definitely worth reading.

Well...I absolutely loved "Simon" but this fell short for me. I think I know why: SPOILERS-- when Molly meets Mina in the beginning it was such a great first meeting, a real meet-cute. I think my brain decided then and there that the two of them should become a couple. Obviously that never happened. But that first scene through me.

I have yet to read a book by Alisha Rai that I didn't love.

MeganB She's so amazing! Have you read the spinoff novellas of this one? 8y
Emily.R @MeganB No! I've read Glutton for pleasure and Be my fantasy. Now I must read everything Alisha Rai has ever written 😊 8y
MeganB Be my fantasy is the spinoff! It's Tess from the sex party! (Lol never thought I'd be saying that anywhere) The sequel is stay my fantasy and that finishes their story, it's fantastic! And I have glutton for pleasure on my old laptop, I have to move it over to my new nook somehow... 🤔 8y

In january 1945 a ship filled with refugees and wounded soldiers fleeing the Russian soldiers sank in the Baltic sea. Only 1000 of the 10 000 people on board survived. This is the fictional story of four young people on board the ship. Filled with dread the entire time I read it because I knew what was coming. But I loved it, defenitely a must read!
