Two Girls Down
Two Girls Down: A Novel | Louisa Luna
Opening this book is like arming a bomb--the suspense is relentless and the payoff is spectacular. Lead character Alice Vega is sensational--I want to see lots more of her.--Lee Child, #1 New York Times bestselling author of the Jack Reacher series As addictive, cinematic, and binge-worthy a narrative as The Wire and The Killing, Two Girls Down introduces Louisa Luna as a thriller writer of immense talent and verve. When two young sisters disappear from a strip mall parking lot in a small Pennsylvania town, their devastated mother hires an enigmatic bounty hunter, Alice Vega, to help find the girls. Immediately shut out by a local police department already stretched thin by budget cuts and the growing OxyContin and meth epidemic, Vega enlists the help of a disgraced former cop, Max Caplan. Cap is a man trying to put the scandal of his past behind him and move on, but Vega needs his help to find the girls, and she will not be denied. With little to go on, Vega and Cap will go to extraordinary lengths to untangle a dangerous web of lies, false leads, and complex relationships to find the girls before time runs out, and they are gone forever.

What a pleasant surprise!! While I pegged the basic whodunit, I loved the dynamic between Cap and Vega, the two main investigators. Plus, just found out there's going to be a second book! Hoping we get more backstory with the characters, too. Loved this on audio #botm

My first book by this author but surely won‘t be my last. The characters were quirky, real and interesting. The plot had twists and turns and was intriguing. 🎧📖🤩👍 #Audiobook #BookishThings

Just finished while waiting for my dr. appointment.

This was GREAT.

It's been a while since a #CrimeThiller has captivated me like this did. From the continuously twisty plotline to the unlikely yet perfectly paired PI duo of Cap & Vega, I couldn't stop listening. Hoping Luna will write more mysteries with Vega as her lead character. There's so much more to her mysterious background that I want to know!

A good mystery! Though when I first started, I thought I had read it before- very similar at the start to “The Child Finder” by Rene Denfeld. This one had some good twists and I didn‘t guess the ending!

As awful as the subject matter is, this book was wonderful. Full of suspense and action. I'm in love with the character of Alice Vega. And Max Chaplan and his daughter Nell. I want more of it. I laughed and cried along with the characters. While sickened by the motivations of the villains.

This is about the disappearance of 2 sisters from a mall parking lot.Family contracted a bounty hunter Alice Vega and she subcontracted Max Caplan.Story describe how was this (hunting) and give aspects about Alice & Cap lives.Alice character for me was unrealistic sometimes as well as some police procedures.Last 100 pages were the best with a twist but ending was fast and too happy? In real world this is not the case.It was ok 3.3⭐️

As you can see, I‘m way behind on my #netgalley reading! Trying to catch up now. This was a riveting story about two PIs trying to locate two missing girls. The writing was average, but the story really kept you engrossed in the book. The female PI‘s character was interesting, but the other characters in the book were less well-defined. Overall, a good book that definitely kept me reading. 3.5⭐️

I really liked this a lot. Two young sisters go missing and a bounty hunter and a PI are on the hunt to find them. This kept me guessing. It did not have any BIG twists like a lot of recent thrillers and I appreciated that. It‘s nice to have the end seem logical and not like the author was trying to shock readers.

Audiobook again. Not my type of book but was gripped. Wonderful strong female lead and wondering if there are more books with Miss Vega. Crime/thrillers are usually dull to me but audiobook brought it to life and the dog walks and commute to/from work flew by in this book's company. Might have to change my mind on the genre. Excellent just excellent

I got a bit stressed because I hadn‘t been working hard on the #ssdgmchallenge. Then I realized I had finished Two Girls Down in January, which I consider a female detective thriller, even though I don‘t think Alice Vega considers herself a detective 🤷🏼‍♀️ I truly enjoyed this book, Vega is such a captivating character and there are twists I never saw coming! @shanebeth #murderino

Alice Vega (bounty hunter) and Max Caplan (ex-cop turned PI) partner up to find 2 missing sisters. They‘re both interesting and develop a balanced partnership. A slow attraction is building. CoffeeNBooks I had to start writing book summaries, because I would forget more than just the absolute basics. Even if I loved the book. I have an especially hard time remembering character names. I'm so jealous of people who can rattle off minute details about a book they read five years ago. 😆 2y
Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks I need to do this because when I was cataloging my books this weekend I couldn‘t remember some of them!! 😩🤣 2y

Chelleo @morgan_lionheart Yes it is great but I only use it to track books I own, which is only a small portion of what I‘m actually read. I‘ve do write reviews but they don‘t include things like he character notes, setting or detailed notes (which I don‘t do too much of). 2y
Chelleo @seglitis @BiblioLitten @CoffeeNBooks ... the summaries help when I‘m trying to make reading suggestions. I keep the notes to one page. So far, I‘m loving it! 2y
sammisho This is a great idea! I read so much I forget details, like characters names. I usually can only remember how a book made me feel and if I liked it or not. 2y
Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks @Chelleo 🤣🤣🤣 nope not just you!! 2y
Chelleo @sammisho same! And if someone starts talking details I‘m lost. 2y
jillrhudy I thought only old women like me did that. I could re-read a mystery I read 6 months ago and not remember whodunit unless there is something super “out there” about the killer. 2y
rjsthumbelina I like this idea! And I think you have a good appreciation for what belongs in the notes. Whenever I have tried to book journal, I either write way too much or way too little! 2y
Chelleo @jillrhudy same here! @rjsthumbelina I hope it helps when I‘m facing reading trivia where I‘m asked which character I wish was my real life BFF or something along by those lines 😜 2y
Chelleo Apparently my memory is so bad I forgot I already posted about my new reading journal! 😂😂😂 (edited) 2y
Q84 I love this! 2y
SqueakyChu I take notes on my phone. When I finish the book, I copy and paste my notes to the “private” notes space on the “edit my book” section of that book on LibraryThing. There the notes will remain forever! 😃 2y
Jinjer I forget what I read as soon as I‘m done reading, too. Very frustrating. Especially if someone asks what I‘m reading and what‘s the book about. Ehhhh...here! Read the back of the book it‘ll tell you!!! Maybe keeping a reading journal would help me...if I can remember to take notes.🙄 2y
