I Will Find You
I Will Find You: Solving Killer Cases from My Life Fighting Crime | Joe Kenda
Detective Lt. Joe Kenda, star of Homicide Hunter, shares his deepest, darkest, and never before revealed case files from his 19 years as a homicide detective. Are you horrified yet fascinated by abhorrent murders? Do you crave to know the gory details of these crimes, and do you seek comfort in the solving of the most gruesome? In I WILL FIND YOU, the star of Homicide Hunter: Lt. Joe Kenda shares his deepest, darkest, and never-before-revealed case files from his two decades as a homicide detective and reminds us that crimes like these are very real and can happen even in our own backyards. Gruesome, macabre, and complex cases. Joe Kenda investigated 387 murder cases during his 23 years with the Colorado Springs Police Department and solved almost all of them. And he is ready to detail the cases that are too gruesome to air on television, cases that still haunt him, and the few cases where the killer got away. These cases are horrifyingly real, and the detail is so mesmerizing you won't be able to look away. The tales in I WILL FIND YOU will shock you like the best horror stories-divulging insights into the actions, motivations, and proclivities of nature's most dangerous species. Don't mind the blood.

I enjoy watching Kenda on ID, was excited when I got into reading this and it didn't disappoint. He says it the way it is...

BookDragonNotWorm I love Kenda! His books read just like he talks on the show and (is this weird???) it gives me the warm fuzzies 😂 2y

I love Joe Kenda AKA Homicide Hunter and miss watching his show. I listened to this on audiobook and had a hard time putting it down over the last couple of days. Even my non book reading husband was interested in this and got mad when I listened without him. 😆 Lt. Kenda is awesome imo and it felt like we were having some beers with him while he told us stories. Be forewarned, he goes into graphic detail about a lot of the cases he‘s worked, ⬇️

JenlovesJT47 And I won‘t be able to forget them for awhile. I would highly recommend this book, and imo if you really want to read this then please get the #audiobook , it‘s awesome! 5⭐️ 4y
OrangeMooseReads Love this show. It‘s on HULU btw. Thanks for the TBR lol 😆 4y

This book is so incredibly good. I adore Joe Kenda. This is definitely not a easy read for everyone. He goes in detail about a lot of the crimes more so then in the show. His ability to make you laugh and shock you all at the same time is quite something. This is my 5th non fiction book of the year and I do highly recommend it if you like true crime. I am also from Colorado so it was really interesting to read.

MySharonaK I love watching his series, I didn‘t know he has a book as well! 4y
ajewel7 @MySharonaK me too! I was thrilled to find the book and it was really good. 4y

I am a true crime Junkie and prior to my father in law passing he and I would watch Joe Kenda‘s. This is my last book of 2019 that I read. So good!

This book was really good. Kenda is funny and the stories he tells are outrageous. So many shocking scenarios. It didn‘t leave me feeling that the world is an awful place. People are flawed but there is good as well. To help this idea, he even talks about his family throughout. Warning: the subject matter is for mature audiences and those not easily squeamish.

I really enjoyed parts of this book - mostly because I love Homicide Hunter on ID. I even recognized a few cases from the show that were mentioned in the book. But other parts of this book were painful to listen to - he often comes across as very misogynistic and judgmental. He can talk about men and their crimes easily, but somehow always ties the women to sex and “perversions.” It got annoying. It‘s ok if you like the show. #audiobook

It‘s a good thing I love this show so much, otherwise I might not even finish the book. I get that it is written in the style in which he speaks, which does not translate to the page well, but come on editor. Soles. SOLES.

I love Homicide Hunter on ID. I did not love this book. If I'm honest, this is probably closer to a pan than a so-so, but I'm rounding up because I'm not ready to be *that* person. Detailed Goodreads review above (forgive the autocorrect error in Kenda's name that I just noticed...dang it).

Reagan I can honestly say, I am not really surprised. I figured my expectations would surpass the reality. Good review! 7y
WarpedSweetness Ugh...I can forgive a lot of things, but not spelling and grammar errors. :-/ I really like his show, and I was hoping this book would be similar. 7y

I did find this interesting.

Tamra Sadly, I agree. 😞 7y
Bostonmomx2 I do, too. I‘d love to explore the idea of professional jurors, those that have an understanding of the law, an IQ over a shoe size, and people who fully understand how lawyers manipulate jurors who just don‘t know better. 7y

It's bedtime, so just water for me now. Really hoping to finish this soon. I've found it to be a rather disappointing read so far. 😔

riversong153 That guy looks kinda boring. I‘m sure he‘s good at his job but he makes me yawn and scared at the same time lol. 7y

WarpedSweetness I look forward to your review. I've been wanting to read this book. I love his TV show. 7y
DGRachel @JoeStalksBeck I'm not sure I'd give this to a 10 year old. There are a few really awful cases that he touches on briefly. I watch a lot of true crime shows and read a lot of detective fiction, and some of the cases he described made me blanch. 7y
JoeStalksBeck @DGRachel nah it doesn‘t bother her. She loves ID channel. We watch it all the time 7y

Joe's voice doesn't always shine through in this book, but this is one of those moments where I can picture him in his chair, narrating a segment from Homicide Hunter. I can practically see the knowing smirk on his face. 😊

HotMessJess Are you a true crime fan? 7y

After quickly becoming hooked on Homicide Hunter earlier this year, I was thrilled to get the chance to read an ARC.

Packed with stories from Kenda's incredible career (92% solve rate), this book is a page turner. There are some parts that are difficult to read, so be warned. If you like true crime, read this. You won't be disappointed. Rating: 5/5.

Thanks to Netgalley & Center Street for the ARC. This is a voluntary honest review.

melrailey I love that TV show! Have you listened to his short lived podcast? It was good. 7y

Some may know of Lt. Kenda from his tv show Homicide Hunter. In Kenda's first book, he takes you through his career as a detective in Colorado Springs. The book is filled with anecdotes that are tragic and violent. His use of cop humor lightens the otherwise heavy material. I recommend for fans of the show and true crime aficionados.
