I just watched It‘s A Wonderful Life for the first time and I know they were trying to show how Mary‘s life would have been in shambles if George had never been born, but personally - I thought she was living her best life. She had the greatest job ever as the town librarian; she didn‘t have to constantly stroke her husband‘s fragile ego; she didn‘t have all of those kids. She had time to read! Hollywood‘s version of old maid is 🔥

dgingo It‘s depressing to me. George also has to give up his dreams of travel 🧳 and exploring the world to help his father, brother, and the town. He sacrifices himself to save others—lovely message for some, but it‘s all heartbreaking and depressing to me. 4y

JacqMac My husband says Mary messes up everything. When she makes her wish she ruins George‘s life forever. He‘s dreams never get to come true, because she wished them all away. 4y

LauraBeth @CarolynM, @sace, @tournevis, @dgingo, @JacqMac, @Sharpeipup, @tapgurl I honestly thought I‘d hate (and kind of wanted to hate it), but I didn‘t hate it! 😂 I mean - I had to definitely put on my 1947 goggles to watch it to avoid getting irritated by some of it. I also think we tend to think that George‘s life was pretty much over but he was still really young at the end of it. I‘d like to think that he still got to travel in his adult years. 4y

dgingo @LauraBeth I don‘t hate it, but I don‘t find it to be the feel good movie that others do. I think the glasses were a good idea and that‘s nice to think that he still traveled. I‘ll hope so too. I‘m glad you enjoyed it! 4y

Scurvygirl Giving books is so difficult. My daughter used to be easy to get books for, but now I find she doesn't have the time (college) and I honestly don't know what to get her, so I went with journals. Of course, i came home tonight and she had bought herself a new one! 🙄 Kids suck😹 5y
