I Don't Know What You Know Me From
I Don't Know What You Know Me From: My Life as a Co-Star | Judy Greer
You know Judy Greer, right? Maybe from The Wedding Planner, 13 Going on 30, Carrie, Arrested Development, or The Descendants. Yes, you totally recognize her. And, odds are, you already feel like shes your friend. In her first book of essays, I Dont Know What You Know Me From, Greer writes about everything you would hope to hear from your best friend: how a midnight shopping trip to Walgreens can cure all; what its like to wake up one day with stepchildren; and how she really feels about fans telling her that shes prettier in person. Yes, its all herefrom the hilarious moments to the intimate confessions. But Judy Greer isnt just a regular friendshes a celebrity friend. Want to know which celebs shes peed next to? Or what the Academy Awards are actually like? Or which hot actor gave her father a Harley-Davidson? Dont worry; Greer reveals all of that, too. Youll love her because, besides being laugh-out-loud funny, she makes us genuinely feel like shes one of us. Because even though she sometimes has a stylist and a makeup artist, she still wears (and hates!) Spanx. Because even after almost twenty years in Hollywood, she still hasnt figured everything outexcept that you should always wash your face before bed. Always.

I love a memoir. This one was good. Quick read that I picked up from the library. It wasn‘t a deep dive into celebrity gossip like it could have been but I think that was intentional based on the title. I liked the first half the best and there were a few topics I wish she spent more time diving deeper into but I understood the tone and I think she left it open to write the juicier book of a costar one day.

This is a quick-read memoir from a familiar Hollywood face . . . even if you can‘t remember her name. Read my full review here: https://debbybrauer.org/#i-dont-know-what-you-know-me-from-co...

KCofKaysville @JoyBlue I think she is a really good actress.

I always enjoy Judy Greer when I see her in a movie or show. In this memoir, she has 3 sections that cover her childhood, career, & personal life. I found it witty and interesting. She doesn‘t go into details about her past movies or co-stars, if you‘re expecting that.

britt_brooke I enjoyed this, too! She‘s adorable. 2y

This week has been so busy at work, then today was nuts (see earlier post). I had forgotten about the #littlechristmasswap until I saw other posts. I‘m really excited to get chocolate I‘ve been enjoying most this season & hot chocolate mix. The 2 books are great—I can‘t get the tagged on audio at the library, so I‘m happy to have a copy. Thank you, Ashley! @EclecticBookLover @bookish_wookish

EclecticBookLover I saw you has read in a holidaze for winter games. If you'd like I can get you the Amazon label to return it and I can get you something else! 😬 I feel like I totally botched this one, except for the treats 😅 2y
Scochrane26 @EclecticBookLover I got In a Holidaze from the library, but it‘s one I‘m going to want to revisit. So, I‘m glad you got it for me! And out of all the celebrities, Judy Greer is a fave, so many movies I‘ve seen her in. Thanks! 2y
EclecticBookLover Ok, enjoy! 😁 2y

⭐️⭐️⭐️ This title‘s accuracy makes me chuckle. I first saw Greer in The Wedding Planner, which I‘ve seen a gazillion times, but I‘m not gonna lie, I had to IMDB her. She‘s Ant-Man‘s ex-wife, y‘all. I *just* watched those movies in the last few months. 😅 This memoir felt intentionally light. I loved the blue rain jacket story most. Greer seems like a normal, pretty cool person; the perpetual co-star.

Scochrane26 I didn‘t know she had written a book. She‘s been in so many movies, always the best friend. Love her! 3y
britt_brooke @Scochrane26 I always love her and always forget what she‘s in! She seems like a fun person to be friends with. This was a decent listen. She narrates it, so that‘s a huge plus. 3y
Cinfhen She does have a familiar looking face😂😜sounds like a good palette cleanser 🧡 3y

Ruthiella Like Joan Cusack, Greer is one of those actors that enlivens any ensemble. In some ways it‘s unfortunate she never got her own show/movie... 3y
britt_brooke @Ruthiella You nailed it! And both are fantastic in everything they‘re in. 3y
Tera66 This has been on my TBR for awhile, glad to hear its good. She has been in, like, everything! 3y
britt_brooke @Tera66 She‘s adorable! I think you‘ll enjoy this. 3y

Some of what appeals to me in Greer's acting also comes across in her writing. She's funny, sweet, & a bit quirky. As she points out herself, people enjoy her & her acting b/c her "normality" (if there is such a thing) is so relatable. This is one of few times she becomes that reflective. Most of this is surface-level stories: a thing she did or that happened to her. While it was funny & interesting, I would've liked more of the introspection.

Quick and fun read. I was always a fan of hers but reading about her rescue doggie and how much love and care she gave this big sweet guy made me cry like a baby.

This was fine. I'm glad I listened to it bc I like Greer very much but she writes like my blog posts which is kind of annoying long term. Solid quick enjoyment.

Reading this was like having an epic conversation with your best friend. Funny (though I didn't lol), interesting, and filled with hard-won advice, I thoroughly I enjoyed this book!
Book #7 for the #Readathon. My eyes are crossing and my arms are killing me, so it's time for bed for me. It sure how many hours total. I've read, but I've been up for 23 hours now and I'm feeling a little nuts. Off to Bedfordshire! @DeweysReadathon

kspenmoll Wow, #7!!! Impressive! My eyes would need a rest too! 7y
Readerann Sleep tight! You were a superb RAT-er! (?) 7y
LauraBrook @kspenmoll They're still a little blurry today, and I'm hoping a major nap will happen later. @Readerann You too! 😘 7y

Still hanging in at 3 AM! I'm almost halfway through this memoir by Judy Greer (nothing earth-shattering, but it's easy and friendly), and enjoying some (weird looking) Bob's Burgers after eating some taco dip.
My eyes are starting to blur a little (oh yeah, I should probably use my 👓), but I'm doing okay otherwise. #readathon @DeweysReadathon

Readerann You're still up? Wow - you're a Readathon dynamo! I snoozed for almost 5 hours, but have been at it again for the last hour. 7y
ReadingOver50 Love Bob's Burgers 7y
LauraBrook @Readerann No one was more surprised than I that I was still awake! @ReadingOver50 Me too - now that only part of season 2 is on Netflix I almost don't know what to watch late at night. 7y

A crazy afternoon here in Wisconsin for the last day of #litsypartyofone. It's 70 degrees, I'm doing mounds of laundry, and in-between trips to the basement I'm reading this memoir by Judy Greer and watching these two kids sleep. I love them so much it's crazy!

My favorite parts of her manifesto/mission statement:
"Keep your life simple and stylish and earnest

Live light, travel light, and be light

Make everyone you love feel loved

Go to the movies, go to the library, go to the park"

mcipher Good advice! 7y

Judy Greer is fantastic! Her book sadly, for me, was very mediocre... I may have bailed if I wasn't listening to the audiobook.

BestOfFates I had the same reaction! And afterward I just felt kinda sad about her life! (Which I'm sure is normal/awesome, just felt it was portrayed in a way that seems very unenjoyable to me.) 8y
