Frog Music: A Novel | Emma Donoghue
post image

Caching up (randomly) with #readingjanuary day 5 was #dressesoncovers of which I don't have many. But this cover will work. I have seen a lot of praise for Emma Donoghue on Litsy but reading this book made me hestiant to pick another one of hers up. It was good but I feel it could have been so much more. Any reccomandations?

Chelsea.Poole I didn't enjoy Frog Music as much as some of her others. Have you read 7y
elkeOriginal I actually really love an old one of hers - Kissing the Witch. If you like feminist fairytale retellings 😁 7y
I-read-and-eat @Chelsea.Poole I have not read that one, but I heard great things about it. @elkeo That sounds great! 7y
Chelsea.Poole @I-read-and-eat this has long been one of my favorites. I can't get over it. Nothing at all like Frog Music 7y

I was in Toronto all weekend so I'm getting caught up on my #readjanuary posts here's one of my favourite #dressesoncovers not sure when it was published exactly but it's inscribed 1908 and has beautiful colour illustrations. Also works for today's prompt #titlewithapropername @RealLifeReading

LeahBergen That's wonderful! 💗 7y

RealLifeReading How pretty they are! Who's the publisher? 7y
Reviewsbylola I've never seen this set! 7y
elkeOriginal @RealLifeReading @Reviewsbylola They are dated 1996 and seem to be a Book-of-the-Month Club reprint for the UK's The Softback Preview? I just remember it was the beginning of my book buying obsession of nice new editions embarked on after college😺 7y

Two in one: #DressesOnCovers and #DreamingOfAWarmerClimate. This is next up on the Kindle for me, I think it's set in California and if they're in this state of undress outdoors then it must be warm out! 😉 This is also my first romance that doesn't star a white couple which I'm excited about.

These Broken Stars: A Starbound Novel | Amie Kaufman, Meagan Spooner

Mehso-so

The main focus is the dynamic between the two main characters, which makes it seems more like a typical YA romance and the science fiction elements are secondary. The last few chapters were interesting though and had the entire book been like that, I'd have liked it better. The book ended just as it was getting good. #dressesoncovers #readjanuary

It's 1942 in Norway. Ilse Stern is waiting to meet Hermann Rod for their first date.
But Hermann won't be able to make it tonight. Hermann is secretly working in the Resistance, helping Jews flee the country to escape the Nazis. The work is exhausting and unpredictable, full of late nights and code words and lies.
As life under German occupation becomes more difficult for Jewish families, the choices made become more important as well.

I don't have a lot of books with #dressesoncovers but I found these in my bookcase! I have yet to read them. Any recommendations from these three? #readjanuary

Lindy I haven't read any of these, but I would pick up George Eliot first. 7y
