I just finished this tonight- from LitCrateJoys June book and it's a well-done YA thriller. The plot is tightly woven and everything and everyone has a reason in the story. Some genuinely surprised me, and the added part about Marnie and her family having a psychic gift was interesting! I can easily see this being adapted for tv/movie. My thing though is that while narrated from Marnies pov I never really felt like I knew her very well tbh.

This came in my first Uppercase book in July, at first I was like hmmmm I thought I was getting some YA fantasy. But instead is a beautiful novel, told in diary form by Adam, to his doctor that he refuses to talk to. Adam has schizophrenia and is part of a drug study- he goes to a new school (private Catholic hs, like I did so I laughed pretty hard at the redic parts of that educational experience!) Funny, heartbreaking and ultimately hopeful book

The companion book to "The Orphan Queen" ?? this picks right off, literally, where the last one ended aka cliffhanger. It's longer that the first one and I think more well done than the first. Yes, there are still the YA fantasy tropes that are all too common; but I took the story for itself and I enjoyed it. I wanted to punch some characters in the face but that's part of the fun.

This is not my usual kind of book- in fact this whole month I've been reading a lot of unusual picks for me. However, this one had a reason! Book club with friends, including the lovely @megt we haven't had book club yet, but I'm sure it will be delightful! I really liked how this novel was structured and told about zombie apocalypse Britain. But I like its set 20+ years later so the impact is felt even more. And Melanie ❤️ is adorable!

YA fantasy that I've had since December and finally read! I liked it, but I've seen some criticism on Goodreads etc for it being kind of blah. Well, ok nothing about the characters and plot twists surprised me. I knew who the vigilante that Wil keeps meeting was from page one- or the synopsis on the back tbh. But I enjoyed it. Yes, it could have been tighter in places-esp when she goes into the wraith land- but overall solid and enjoyable escape.

This book has been on my tbr shelf literally for years. I've been trying to clear that shelf, or this case ebook shelf, lately and I'm on a kick right now! I really liked this book, it was super cute and def what I needed. It is also the first of a quartet- so one book off my list ... and 3 more on! 📖😂

I finally read this one- I got it a billion months ago from #BOTM and I really enjoyed it! I found premise intriguing- a company that basically manufactures Love Interests for those people they have targeted as having future influence; and of course like every good triangle the interests are either a "Nice" or a "Bad." I loved watching Caden&Dyls relationship grow- totally turning trad ❤️triangles on its head! Loved it!

This book was so disappointing. On paper it's everything I should love: YA, space, royal princess who kicks ass, great comparisons in the blurb, and yes a gorgeous cover. However, what it is lacking is well- everything. For what the author was trying to do it was short (little over 300 pg) so descriptions about you know key story points were lacking or just missing. Continuity was huge fucking problem. It could have been great story but nope. 👎🏻

I loved this book! It was the second part of an awesome duology and follows our favorite thieves in their adventures back home in Ketterdam. I loved these characters so much. I felt I knew all six of them so well and cheered and cried with them. Omg my heart ❤️ at the end. Excellent story, I wish there were more books about these crazy guys! It makes me want to be a cat burglar. And have lots of waffles with the delightful Nina! Ngl she's my fav!

I love this book so hard. It is badass with fabulous characters that takes place in what I imagine the sketchy Knockturn Alley from HP to be like. I think that it is best described as Harry Potter meets Oceans Eleven meets like full on awesome. I fell in love with the broken characters, some of the things they do are so shady- looking at you Kaz-but w/e. Nina&Inej&Matthias&Jesper&Wylan along with mastermind Kaz are just delights, well-written&fun.

I loved this book. I love anything by Maas. The world building is incredible and the characterization fabulous. Watching Feyre grow from ACOTAR to ACOWAR is crazy. People are redeemed, some get what's coming to them and there are more then enough questions to be answered in more books. Originally just a trilogy it's been expanded-but the first big arc of Feyre and Rhys has been told. TBH I was a bit more blown away by ACOMAF, but still adored it!

Love these two. And they aren't a prince and princess. Plus Maddy sure doesn't need rescuing, girl can take care of herself. 😍📖🤓

Adored this book, I adore anything by Nicola Yoon really. Love her use of multigenre ways to tell the story. I fell utterly in love with Maddy and her love of books. Love how she goes from girl to a woman of her own, loved it. Olly is adorable.

I read this in a little over a day, an excellent YA novel and highly recommend!

Side note: what are your feelings on movie covers? Love them? Hate with a fiery passion? Indifferent?

Never change Pippa, never change. Seriously, I would read a book about a boring day for Pippa just to get her random thoughts and observations on the world and Cross trying to figure out wtf she's adorably on about.

4th&and last of the scoundrel series by @sarahmaclean and it is fabulous! The Chase reveal from the previous novel was perfect for the female lead, she's a total badass. Also as awesome a male lead who isn't some kind of lord/landed gentry- the dude works hard for a living running 5 billion newspapers. I think that's what I loved most, that in addition to being a great couple they also had their own careers that they loved&didn't have to give up.

During our epic library book haul with @megt I found this on (the extremely well organized) table of books. I think I went "Aw. That was the first romance author I used to steal from my mom to read the naughty bits."

Anyone else do that?

I'm pretty sure she knew though&didnt mind; I mean the woman read parts of the "Outlander" series to me when I was sick haha.

She is human and b/c she has whites around her eyes he says she looks like a horse- with how the eyes roll about. He is gray-skinned, eyes that glow (w/o rolling about), claws, sharp teeth and can see better in the dark aka a "wolf."
What they both are, however, are big ole marshmallows.

This was a Goodreads rec by an author I like so I took a shot on it. I honestly can't remember if it's YA or not, but it def fantasy! 🦄 Basically a political marriage between two adorable people from different species and how they adjust to the physical oddness of the other. That being said that is their only major hurtle to cross in terms of conflict with each other. It's just shy on 300 pages, so it's quite short. But a fairly solid 1st book.

The couple who drugs each other with laudanum stays together. Albeit with one passed out on the floor. But always done with love. 😂❤️

3rd book in @sarahmaclean scoundrel series and it's delightful. Mara unwittingly left Temple years ago framed for her murder, which never happened. But poor Temple has been screwed over in society since; so when she turns up, you know ALIVE, things get interesting! Featuring a baby piglet 🐷, Mara's habit of drugging Temple and the excellent secondary characters and favorites this makes for an excellent, fun read all around!

I adore this book. This was my 2nd Sarah MacLean novel- and not my last. I've actually finished this fab series and am reading her earlier series. Omg where to start Pippa- Pippa is hilarious, inquisitive, intelligent and just the best. She puts Cross through his paces, without even knowing she is. I love historical rom where strong female lead had her own pursuits&goal (horticulture for Pippa) and this book delivers. Fun, smart and just awesome!

Words don't express how much I adore this book. It's the first of the Starbound series and it's gorgeous. I read this a year or two on my kindle- but when I saw a hard copy for sale I inwardly squealed and grabbed it. It's my precious and I sat lovingly going through it when I got home feeling all Gollum like. Lilac&Tarver will steal your heart, even as Meg&Amie break it. Feelings will be felt and you will love it! Highly recommended!!💫😍📖✨❤️🤓

An ok finale to this series. I kind of wanted more, I can't say what precisely because a lot of shit went down. There is one character, leader of the revolution, who was made to be this all knowing genius- but he's not and I feel like Violet and others just blindly followed whatever he said. 🙄I had to keep reminding myself this was written for like 13 year olds, who prob ❤️ it, but I've read a lot of YA fantasy and it can be done better.

This was def my favorite of the "Jewel" trilogy. It opened up the world and explained a bit about Violet's (and the other surrogates) power- it reminded me of Irish druids for some reason- but nothing like them if that makes sense? I think it's because the story takes place on an island and has women protectors. I liked that. This also reminded me a bit of "The Hunger Games" as an underground revolution is planned. Fast moving and quick read.

It was promoted as an interesting mash-up of "The Selection" series and "The Handmaid's Tale" which I was intrigued by. Better world building then "The Selection" that's for damn sure, mixed with a bit of magic. The romance was pretty easy to see coming, glad there was no YA triangle, but it was fast. That said this book felt written for younger readers, despite the forced teenage pregnancies etc. Def a lower reading level but a quick cute read.

It's a really, really good time to be a "Beauty&the Beast fan" with the new live Disney movie and "Hunted." What I like about this book is that it really digs into the characters keeping it very grounded. I also loved how the fairytales told within this retelling were so important for Yeva and the Beast. Also the realness of living in a decaying castle and having to hunt added to the story. Beautiful retelling that is unique& worth reading!?❄️?

First time reading this author, based on the wonderfully wonderful @megt rec, & she did not lead me astray! I loved this book, it was cute, funny, broken male lead, and sass. I usually don't pan a book, but this one was redic. Had a cute premise: American siblings find out bro is now a duke, while also a nod to "Bridget Jones Diary" and by extension "Pride&Prejudice." Yea..... this story was a mess- it combined too many elements of other stories so it was never its own. But the worst: There was LITERALLY a Lord Darcy. A Lord Colin Darcy. Listen I ❤️ me some Colin Firth as Darcy but this was crazy-I eyerolled so hard.?

This was my #BOTM pick from.... November? I finally read it and yes, all my friends who have been telling me for years to read French were right. This book was fast, tightly-woven and smart. While this is part of a series I didn't feel like I was lost or missing anything, since the story stood on its own. A bit of a departure for me from my norm *cough Romance/YA/Fantasy cough* but I enjoyed it! An Irish 🍀 mystery was just what I needed.

This book was alright. Honestly I'm trying to get space on my kindle and decrease my ever increasing TBR pile. I think this book was a deal-since it came out 8 years ago or so. I remember liking the author's past work but recently read a collection of short stories from her that were "meh." While a full length novel was better it still lacked that rom spark I enjoy. It's part of a series but I'm not rushing out to read the rest right now.

Ok, so overall it did its job: a dramatic ending for this trilogy. The good: Meira's char growth, Mather's growth, their relationship and ultimately both their respective relationships w/Sir. The meh: Ceridwen-a badass who I feel never fully gets to shine. Also there's the dead weight Jesse- she's too good for him, even tells him, but still...yea. The bad: villain never really defined and his reasons for everything seemed weak. Still solid series.

Book 2 of the "Snow Like Ashes" series is fast paced and greatly expands the world of the first book. Meira is now queen and has a hell of a lot of pressure on her, so much that she tries to become what others want her to be. The book is also told from not only Meira's first person voice, but also Mather's 3rd pov- this made me like him a lot more & relate to him more than just "the best friend." The addition of the badassCeridwen is awesome too!

I really, really, wanted to love this book. It combines two of Dare's series together with two secondary characters I enjoyed previously. I think the trouble is that they never moved beyond that for me; usually Dare's female leads have strong goals for themselves, not just marriage. Charlotte, while def more forthright then women of the day, lacks that. She wants more, but not sure what it is. And the "mystery" just felt, I hate to say this, lazy.

This was my Dec pick for #bookofthemonthclub and it's gorgeous. Believe the hype not only are the characters of Natasha and Daniel well-written and relatable but I fell in love with them and this story. It takes place over the course of one day with Natasha facing deportation to Jamaica that night. Also incredibly timely for the craziness that is happening in the US. You will laugh, cry and feel feelings-what's not to love? ❤️ #botmc

I really liked this book- I feel like I would have loved it more if I literally hadn't read it after ACOMAF- terrible timing on my part. This was a totally different world from Kova's #AirAwakens series, but I liked it. She really describes this steampunk world well so that you gradually sink into and flying airships and dragon organ black market trade seem totally normal haha. Then there is the flawless Florence who loves cookies as much me!🍪

As you can tell from the stickers I really, REALLY, loved this book. Adored might be a better word, or obsessed, whateves. Anyways this book blows ACOTAR out of the water. And I thought that bk was amazing! I'm have a serious prob though-I can't get this book out of my head-like I'm comparing everything I read to it and nothing stacks up. And it's almost been a month kids- I've read several books since then. #bookproblems
