Forever Your Earl
Forever Your Earl: The Wicked Quills of London | Eva Leigh
14 posts | 13 read | 13 to read
Eva Leigh's irresistible new series introduces the Wicked Quills of London: a group of bold, brilliant female writers whose spirited allure is beyond seductive . . . Eleanor Hawke loves a good scandal. And readers of her successful gossip rag live for the exploits of her favorite subject: Daniel Balfour, the notorious Earl of Ashford. So when the earl himself marches into her office and invites her to experience his illicit pursuits firsthand, Eleanor is stunned. Gambling hells, phaeton races, masquerades . . . What more could a scandal writer want than a secret look into the life of this devilishly handsome rake? Daniel has secrets, and if The Hawk's Eye gets wind of them, a man's life could be at stake. And what better way to distract a gossip than by feeding her the scandal she desperately craves? But Daniel never expected the sharp mind and biting wit of the beautiful writer, and their desire for each other threatens even his best-laid plans. But when Eleanor learns the truth of his deception, Daniel will do anything to prove a romance between a commoner and an earl could really last forever.

This is for the Wicked Quills trilogy, which I devoured over the past couple of days. The heroines are all writers - journalist, playwright and erotic fiction author - these books have a lot to say about class and gender and expectations. I‘m a sucker for some feminist historical romance. If you get hot and bothered by consent talk and rants against privilege, I highly recommend. 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼 #romantsy

melissanorr This is the series that got me back into #historicalromance because it had such fantastic female characters! 5y

1. Heath Ledger (RIP). I‘ve never really found anyone to replace him.
2. 💚🥒🍀
3. Tagged.
4. I‘m really bad at these kinds of questions but I would say Kady and Ezra from Illuminae (maybe the AI, too) and then probably one or two people from Tortall since they‘re pretty resilient.
5. 🤞🏼

HeathersReadingHideaway Heath 😞 such a good one! I had a huge crush on him when I first saw 10 Things I Hate About You! 6y

MarriedtoMrT I enjoyed the story and the narrator very much! These characters are delightful together. Enjoy! 6y
dylanisreading @MarriedtoMrT Carmen Rose is one of my favorite narrators! I'm enjoying it a lot so far. Thank you! 6y
MarriedtoMrT @Bianca Yes! This was my first by her but I immediately read another book simply because she narrated it. I‘m definitely going to be on the lookout for her in the future. 6y

I bought FYE as an ebook deal, loved the first chapter (the banter starts immediately!) but got bogged down by a gear change in the second chapter (my mood‘s fault, not the book) so I changed to the audio. I did switch back and forth between the formats a few times but the audio is wonderful. Carmen Rose is a new favorite narrator.

FYE has two smart, perceptive, head-strong characters who clash then click in the best way. #romantsy

mcipher I love that puzzle!! 6y
Mommamanzi I‘m in love with the puzzle, do you happen to have the name of it? 6y
MarriedtoMrT @Mommamanzi Here‘s the link: Charley Harper Birducopia 1,000-piece Jigsaw Puzzle (Pomegranate Artpiece Puzzle) https://www.amazon.com/dp/0764968629?ref=yo_pop_ma_swf They have a bunch of Charley Harper ones and I will be getting more (eventually). It was a fun one! 6y
Karkar I just bought this puzzle for my brother for Christmas. It was fun to do. 6y
MarriedtoMrT @Karkar It was! Challenging but not impossible. 6y

Speaking of #tbrtemptation, this deal arrived in my inbox today. It sounds good and the Litsy reviews are positive but I don‘t think I‘ve read any Eva Leigh before. Can anyone recommend?

Oh hello again Litsy! I didn't forget about you but I did not give you any of my time, sorry. I will try and not let weeks go by again although I know that won't happen.

Finished Forever Your Earl by Eva Leigh last night and I loved it. I really can't wait to read the next in The Wicked Quill of London series. Alas that will have to wait as I have 4 books coming in soon from the library.

"You undo me," [Daniel] rasped.
Good to know [Eleanor] wasn't the only one lost in this sea of need.
She beckoned to him. "Show me," she said.

Because @megt knows how to get me to literally lol at work. And because she is fabulous. And for giving me the term "recreational region." Automatic in my TBR pile!

megt I suspected this was going to be a book for you before I even started listening. But as soon as I got to that line I knew I had to tell you about it asap. 7y
Megaled @megt and you know I love you for telling me about it! Seriously though, I'm super excited to read this! Regency period rom coms are like catnip to me! 7y

I thought this was a delightful listen! Eleanor and Daniel have excellent banter and chemistry. They constantly challenge one another's preconceived notions and prejudices. I know it's not entirely uncommon for the genre, but I appreciated that Eleanor was a bit of an anomaly for her time. As a career woman and business owner, her first concern is her work and taking care of herself, not finding a husband. #romantsy

Megaled From the little, and hilarious, tidbits you told me about this book it's automatically in my TBR pile! I mean the phrase "recreational regions" is hysterical and I bet it's even funnier as you read/listen! 7y
megt @Megaled I think you'll love this one! 7y

The snark in Regency England is FABULOUS. 😂🙌🏻. P.S. I bet they get it on later😉......#romantsy #gottaloveearls

EloisaJames Love that retort! 7y
Leelee08 @EloisaJames I think if I wrote romance, that would be one of my favorite things---the banter! 7y
EloisaJames @Leelee08 it is enormously satisfying. You have time to craft all the witty set-downs that don't come to mind in real life. 7y

"We're slow-moving targets, us writers of entertainment. They call us hacks, panderers, scribblers. You name an insult, I've heard it: our readers are fools; the writers themselves are imbeciles; we have no talent. And God forbid a woman should attempt to write something that isn't moralistic tripe. Then the insults are tripled." #writing #writers #reading #novels #feminism #romance #press #media #resist
