My cousin and I have been buddy reading the HP series (my first time reading them) and he's already 37 chapters into this one! Yikes! Anyway, I'm starting this today!

Has anyone read this one? I just got it from the library and it doesn't have the best reviews on Goodreads... Not sure I should bother..

bg_reads Also, it has a 47% feedback rating on Litsy, so.. maybe I'll skip it! 7d

I got this book (along with the box set) for my birthday in March and I'm finally reading it. So far the writing is nice but the storyline isn't very exciting... I hope it'll pick up.

I figured the best way to follow up a GREAT read #WARBREAKER by Brandon Sanderson - was to pick a completely different genre. Haha! The book after the 5⭐ read is always a fail because nothing can follow that up! I'm enjoying this so far. It's shorter and a dual POV story. It's rather sweet!

bg_reads Got a 5⭐ rating from me, by the way! 😆 3w

Just over 100 pages left in this book! I see the light at the end of the tunnel!
P. S. Did anyone else know where is a book 2?! About Nightblood??? I'm dead.
Also, Mulan II in the background. #thefirstwasbetter

I'd put it here but there's a character limit. And that stinks.

So far this book hasn't pulled me in.. granted I'm only 5% in but it's really not making me want to continue. Pretty boring. I hope it perks up.
I got a #netgalley ARC a few weeks ago and I'm finally starting it! 🤞🏻 I hope I don't regret requesting it.

Books & book sales make me so happy.
Finding a new-to-me author: game, set, match.
Brandon Sanderson might be an author I just HAVE to buy. You know, they come out with a new book, and it doesn't even matter what it's about, you just know it's going to be good and you just need to buy it.
STEELHEART was only $8 on Amazon (hardcover) and I just couldn't withstand it anymore. I don't regret buying it.

Whet a book! I think I enjoyed it! One character battles depression quite extensively and at the risk of sounding unsympathetic, it was overdone. I got so tired of his whiney mentality and his "woe is me's". Rather than fixing the problem, he wallowed! Other than that, I really liked this one!

ErinC This is one of my favorite YA books of all time! 1mo
bg_reads @ErinC it was great! I really enjoyed the writing style and totally ugly cried about Travis. He was my favorite character! 💔 1mo

Oh mylanta! Could Dill be more of a whiner? I don't think so! He's wallowing in self pity and just doesn't want (refuses, rather) to get himself out of it. Ugh!
*Chucks book at wall*

RaimeyGallant Been there. 1mo
bg_reads @RaimeyGallant I mean, I get it to an extent: he wants to respect his mother but he's drowning. If he decides to not pull himself out of the situation then he needs to buck up and stop complaining. Ya know?? Oi! Anyway.. #rantover 🙄 For now, at least. 1mo

I had to take a break from this guy to get through 2 #netgalley ARCs that published late last month, but now I'm back to focusing on my other CRs. Maybe it's because I stopped reading it for a time and came back, but this one just isn't capturing my attention like the first 2.
I've had a lot of people tell me that book 3 is the best of the series, but I'm not seeing it so far.

What a wild ride! At first I thought this book was a little slow and I wasn't connecting with the characters or the circumstances and dialogue, but at about 30% it really got rolling! Switching back and forth from present to past, the author really gives a great, round depiction of the father and why he goes through such lengths to find his son in war-torn France.

I don't even know what to say or think anymore. I start thinking it's as full to bursting as it's going to get, something else adds to the build-up. Someone else shows up and things fester and boil even more! When will it finally release? When will it all come to a head and finally boil over? It's so good! I'm trying to read as fast as I can so I can find out what happens! Still, I'm only 70% through... So much more can happen in 30%.

Do you buy hardcovers or paperbacks? Why do you prefer one over the other? I am loving my CR and its companion and want to buy it but the hardcovers are so expensive. I'm also nervous about the books getting damaged over time if they're paperback. Let me know your thoughts on this! 💚💚💚

jenniferw88 I prefer paperbacks - they take up less room and I like the look of well-read books (creased spine etc)! 3mo
SleepyDragon I buy whatever is available, convenient, and affordable. I've had some paperbacks for decades, and honestly they tend to fair better than some bookjackets on hardbacks. Just treat them well, and they will live through many readings. 3mo
Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks I‘ve always preferred hardcover if I‘m ordering. I like to keep my books and they stay in great shape!!! (edited) 3mo

Lilac Girls: A Novel | Martha Hall Kelly

I called my mother last night and got a book pep talk from her about LILAC GIRLS. She said the part I just read is probably the worst the book has to offer. She also mentioned that these things actually happened in one way or another and that we can't forget that people actually suffered at the hands of others. I love historical fiction. It's my favorite genre, by far. I've read a lot. None like the butcher/pig intestine scene in this book........

bg_reads ***I really hate that there's a word limit for captions. It's annoying. **** Anyway, here's more of my thoughts --- At least none that made me feel as sick as this did. I was astonished and felt physically sick. I'm not sure if my review will show my disgust about this or not, but I will keep reading, for now. 4mo
