I quit. This book filled me absolute rage and catapulted me into a slump. If you want a more detailed reason as to why it‘s on my goodreads (link in bio) but basically it‘s slow, boring, I hated every character and all the women up to the point I had read to where treated like shit and I had this hangover feeling of a possible rape to happen at any moment which made it uncomfortable. This ruined my reading it put me in a slump for a whole month.

Sweetkokoro I kept thinking I was going to finish it to see how much worse it could get but you know what I don‘t have time for that. There are plenty of other books out there for me to read. 3y

So is there anyone who can give me a good reason as to why I should continue reading this? It‘s 644 pages and I‘m 160 pages in and I want to ram my head through a wall. I don‘t like any of the characters it‘s long winded and so dry, only two “scenes” have been interesting. Is there something worth getting too or should I just call it quits?

Sweetkokoro @TuesdayReviews I‘m not sure what you mean by learning curve, but for me this is just dry, slow paced and none of the characters are interesting. I‘m all for a large setting with lots of characters but this just isn‘t working for me. 3y

Sweetkokoro @jinxmoon I have a similar rule as well, which is usually 30% of the book should be read before I DNF and I just hit that point with 209pgs. But I‘m also using this in a readathon and it will only count if it‘s 50% read for a DNF. So I have to keep going but I‘m just so frustrated with it. 3y

Sweetkokoro @TrishB @Clare-Dragonfly I‘m giving it till the 50% mark before I DNF it, since that‘s the rule for the readathon I‘m using it in, but if I wasn‘t using it for that then I would have dropped it. I only found out about the rule after I posted this. 3y

In the beginning it was interesting to see all these different characters from different backgrounds and places, but eventually it lost the novelty and I got tired reading about all the others when I wanted to know what was happening with the MC. My problem was I also ended up not liking the MC enough to want to know more about how the rest of the book went. : \

I just started this one yesterday and so far it is so good! I've really been in the mood for action/adventure fantasy stories since completing The Faithful and The Fallen series and Kings of The Wyld. So far this is ringing all my bells with rougish mercenaries, witchy mind, and mythical creatures wreaking havoc on mankind.
