August came in at 14 books read:
I made progress on my Dr. Seuss challenge. The funniest book was How to Tell If Your Cat Is Trying To Kill You! The worst book was Mostly Dead Things. Gulp was an interesting read, but it‘s not for the squeamish.
#summersendreadathon came in with a total of eight (which I forgot to post on Friday).
An utterly strange and chilling story where not much happens, except in the deeply troubled mind of the protagonist. However, towards the end, the story takes an interesting turn. A college student from a dysfunctional family is unsure how to navigate her college and adolescent life, feels alienation and fear. Gradually, she can‘t differentiate what‘s real and what‘s her imagination. (Neither can I!) Deeply unsettling.
I didn‘t read nearly as much as I planned to this month but at least I checked these off my long term tbr. I‘m not sure if it was a coincidence or my subconscious at work but these authors were all part of the ‘Beat Generation‘. I feel a bit like I‘ve been living in an era just before I was born. #augustwrapup #summerreading #august #wrapup
‘Breakfast of Champions‘ 3 1/2⭐️
‘The Dharma Bums‘ 3 1/2⭐️
‘Franny and Zooey‘ 3 ⭐️
August totals! 12 books in all. First 6 listed were audiobooks. One of my favorites from this month was Aurora Rising, though another shoutout goes to The Restaurant at the End of the Universe for getting me through labor with my son. 😂
