There‘s a lot of talk these days about getting 3.5% of the population involved in a protest. But why? And how?
I‘m trying to learn more about how nonviolent resistant world and (why) 😉

I follow Lauren Grubaugh Thomas‘ Substack, A Soulful Revolution, and today‘s piece was hopeful and encouraging to me, as I feel somewhat at a loss over effective action in the face of current events. I‘ll link her piece below. She highlighted the tagged book and an upcoming series of online book discussions, if anyone‘s interested in joining in. I just put the book on hold at the library! This book (#futureshock) came out 55 years ago and is based on an article that came out in the summer of 1965, 60 years ago. Toffler's known for coining the phrase “INFORMATION OVERLOAD.“ Hence this haiku.
Information floods––
overloads us 'til we're shocked
into submission.
Americans have always been in transition.
This is a reread for me. I'm in a transition state of mind since my mom died last November (2024).

This picture book is about standing up for others and wanting to change the world. How when you can‘t use your voice find other ways to do it until you can find your voice. This book is well written the illustrations are amazing and this is an altogether five star read. I will be picking up other books by Stacy Abrams .

Taking a moment to brag & would love to hear what you‘re proud of—Two weeks ago I spoke about sustainability in maritime at 3 separate events. I was particularly proud of the Tulane Future of Energy Forum panel as the only woman & with three men who are CEOs. They took great photos, an event YouTube page with the 28 sessions & our panel made the cover!

An informative history of global revolutions and the way they have shaped our world is brilliantly covered by Zakaria, who says we are currently living through the third geopolitical revolution in modern history. Despite all the reasons to worry, Zakaria gives us reasons for hope. I found this book to be objective, well written, thoughtful and thorough. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
