dragondrool I felt stunned for several days after reading the Red Wedding scene. I read it twice hoping I'd read it wrong. 6y
emilyhaldi Oh man. That was brutal 😩 I couldn‘t believe alex didn‘t warn me it was coming!!!!! 6y
Kalalalatja I couldn‘t believe what I was reading! 6y
Cinfhen I haven‘t read the series nor do I watch GOT but even I heard about The Red Wedding @Reviewsbylola OMG...my family didn‘t stop nor the people in spin class the following Monday morning😱😱😱 6y
Meredith3 @dragondrool omg ME TOO! I felt empty inside 😩 6y
Meredith3 @emilyhaldi I saw it on the show before I read it and I watched it with Brian and Christian at the time, and neither of them warned me either! I was shocked 6y

#aprella So far this year, these four have been guilty of making me wipe snot on the back of my hand, making me feel like I had the flu, not being able to see clearly, coming back from break at work looking like someone had just died....all because they #keptmecrying.

mrozzz NOTED! I have Our Short History on my shelf and I‘ve been covering Love Letter from afar until I see it at the library... might have to just buy it up 🙃 6y
emilyhaldi Ugh, I have been avoiding Our Short History like the plague!! I don‘t think I can handle it 😭 6y
Cinfhen Same @emilyhaldi I can‘t do it...but I‘m glad to know it‘s as heart wrenching as I‘m imagining xx thanks for sharing, Reggie 6y

Mdargusch Avoiding Our Short History for that very reason! 6y
Reggie @mrozzz Just make sure you have the Kleenex box handy and that you don‘t have to go out anywhere with Our Short History. That one was just like waves and waves. So good though. 6y
mrozzz I‘m so excited... I absolutely love when a story moves me to tears. 6y
Reviewsbylola I bailed on Our Short History early on. Wrong time for it but maybe I‘ll go back. 6y

Last of nine books about Fitz and the Fool. I could hardly see for the last 1/4 of this one - the tears were tripping me 😢 Not going to say anymore because others are only just starting the journey! A fitting end I thought though, a hard thing for an author to pull off sometimes.

theresidentromantic I've never heard of this book series or this author before Litsy, but it's all over. And I've definitely seen people who usually read way different genres both pick it up. I might have to start this! 6y
ReadingRuby I‘m just starting my Robin Hobb journey! I can already tell it‘s going to be a very good one 6y
TrishB @theresidentromantic it‘s my fav fantasy series ❤️ 6y

TrishB @ReadingRuby I‘m a bit jealous that you‘re reading for the first time, enjoy 😁 6y
theresidentromantic @TrishB I really like the worlds of fantasy, like Game of Thrones, but for some reason I can't really ever get through it. But maybe... 6y
TrishB @theresidentromantic they are a big commitment! 6y
Cinfhen Need to tell my brother about this series, what‘s the first book called?!? 6y
laurieluna I think I may commit a few months to re reading these this year. I miss them all so terribly. 6y
wanderinglynn LOVE this series! 6y
TrishB @miralunasbooknook I have a friend who re-reads every year! 6y
TrishB @wanderinglynn they‘re amazing 😁 6y
emilyhaldi 💙 6y
wanderinglynn @TrishB @Cinfhen I just told @ReadingRuby who‘s currently reading Assassin‘s Apprentice, that Robin Hobb‘s books are so highly addictive. Assassin‘s Apprentice is the gateway book and before you know it, you‘ll have an entire Robin Hobb bookshelf. 😉 6y
Cinfhen And you too, Trish 😘 6y
tessavi I knew it was coming before even starting the book and also cried the last few chapters. 😭 6y
Mdargusch 👍🏼not familiar with this series. But sound interesting. (edited) 6y
somebooksaround 🙌🙌🙌 6y
TrishB @tessavi I think it will be a while before I try to read that bit again! 6y
tessavi @TrishB I still tear up whenever I think about it 😱 6y

#Aprella #day18 #KeptMeCrying This is the last book that destroyed me totally. In this novel, a teenage girl is drugged & raped by the town sheriffs son. In the aftermath he, the golden boy, is believed & she, from the poorer part of town, is branded a liar & bullied relentlessly, even by people she thought were friends. But then another girl goes missing.
After finishing this book I ended up on the floor having the worst panic attack. TCTH

emilyhaldi Yikes! This book should include a complimentary Xanax with purchase. 💊 6y
Mdargusch Wow! That sounds infuriating and devastating! 💔 6y
Cinfhen Sounds brutal 6y
Reviewsbylola Omg sounds like a horrifying read. 6y

Unlike watching a movie, I dont cry ugly when reading, but these two coming-of-age stories about courageous boys made my eyes glistened with tears.
#aprella #keptmecrying

Reviewsbylola I haven‘t read either of these but I‘ve been curious about them. 6y
emilyhaldi Oh man, just the movie trailer for Wonder was enough for me!! 😰 6y
AmyG Wonder made me cry. 6y

youneverarrived A Monster Calls had me in tears 😭 6y
Jess7 I loved Wonder. Both the book AND the movie! Have you watched it yet? (edited) 6y
KathyWheeler I haven‘t read Wonder, but I teared up reading A Monster Calls. 6y
Robothugs Have you watched the movie for A Monster Calls? Because I ugly cried during the book and the whole movie. 🤣 6y
erzascarletbookgasm @Reviewsbylola please read them! 6y
erzascarletbookgasm @emilyhaldi @AmyG @youneverarrived @Jess7 @Robothugs I have not watched both movies, because I know I will cry ugly. The trailers already brought tears to my eyes! But the books are GOOD! 6y
erzascarletbookgasm @KathyWheeler You must read Wonder! I immediately shoved the book into my kids‘ hands and kept pestering them to read it. They loved it too. 🙂 6y
Robothugs The movie is SO good and even though it will make you ugly cry, I‘d still recommend watching it. It‘s so touching. 💗 6y
Jess7 Ohh definitely watch Wonder the movie. It‘s worth it! 6y
Mdargusch Great choices! 😁 6y

Pickpick

The part of this book that #keptmecrying was not the senseless brutalizations of the GSK‘s victims as much as the loss of passion and vigor experienced with the author Michelle‘s untimely passing. It seems unfair to rate this book as it is incomplete and feels that way. I find that the fragmented nature worked well though and I like the Michelle wrote as if she were having a personal conversation about the case. #aprella

Kappadeemom I want to read this one! 6y
stacybmartin I‘ve got this on my TBR too after hearing about it on My Favorite Murder - I can‘t wait to get started! 6y
emilyhaldi Nice review 🖤 I remember the say McNamara died- Alex was really upset as he is a fan of Oswald. I had no idea she was writing this book at the time... 😢 6y
See All 15 Comments
Cinfhen What did the author past away from? I‘m not familiar with this true crime either, but your post makes me want to read it! 6y
Reviewsbylola The research and effort she put into this will blow your mind. And yes, I was so sad when she passed because I knew Patton from King of Queens. @emilyhaldi 6y
Reviewsbylola She died unexpectedly in her sleep at age 46. She suffered from insomnia and also nightmares (I think) and so her husband, Patton Oswald, tried to get her to have a good night‘s sleep one night. She took Xanax and one or two other drugs and never woke up. 😞 They also found out after her death that she suffered from narrowing of her arteries, which was a contributing factor. They had a young daughter. @Cinfhen 6y
Cinfhen That is so sad #stacked 6y
BarbaraBB I want to read this! 6y
Mdargusch That is heartbreaking! I bet the husband will never get over that. 😢 6y
Richryan52 How I do wish you were still reviewing 6y
night_shift Hearing Patton talk about her is freaking heartbreaking. He's so in love with her, still. 6y
Meredith3 Starting this right now! 6y
ValerieAndBooks I‘ve already mentioned this to a couple others here who have read this book, but I grew up in the same area in Sacramento when the East Area Rapist was active. A very scary time (I was a tweenager) and I don‘t think I could read this! 6y
DebinHawaii I felt the same way. The emotion from this book was really from the 'what might have been' thoughts that can't help running through your mind when reading or listening to it. 💔 6y
Reviewsbylola Omg I can‘t imagine how terrifying it was to live through it! @ValerieAndBooks 6y

This powerful memoir of a free black man that was captured and sold into slavery #keptmecrying. It is his unforgettable story of courage, persistence, and hope. #aprella

Joanne1 This was such a surprising read for me. It was so engaging even though it was written such a long time ago. 6y
Cinfhen I‘ve only seen the film 😭 6y
DivineDiana I am not able to watch extreme violence, so I regretfully did not see the film, but I do want to read the book. 6y

Mdargusch It‘s a quick read @Cinfhen so you should pick it up or read it on Serial Reader. His writing is surprising as it reads like a novel like @Joanne1 said. It‘s so powerful. 💔 (edited) 6y
Mdargusch I totally agree with you @DivineDiana - see my post above. 👆🏼 6y
DivineDiana Thank you! 📚 6y
Tanisha_A I remember watching this movie long time ago, and man it wrenched my heart. And oh it's on Serial Reader! Thanks for letting know! 🙂 6y

Librarybelle @Cinfhen I completely forgot it was on the list! Well-deserved, I think ❤️ 6y
Joanne1 I adore this book but still can't forgive the author. 6y
Mdargusch I am stacking! Sounds like a good one. 6y
Librarybelle @Joanne1 I think she wanted to write something so emotionally charged that it would get people to discuss about how heart-wrenching it is. Or, at least, that‘s what I feel. I can see why you can‘t forgive her! 6y
Librarybelle @Mdargusch It really is good! 6y
GatheringBooks one of my absolute favourite reads!! wrote a fairly extensive review here: https://gatheringbooks.org/2017/09/14/elegance-of-the-hedgehog/ 6y
