#JuneWrapUp

I‘m happy with my June Stats! I think the #readathons & #buddyreads this month helped push me along to completing 13 books (some finished/others started & finished) with 3 books still in process at about 40% complete.

I read 2 audio or part audio books, 6 e-books & 5-print. 4 were library books, 1 for book tour review, 1 NetGalley #ARC 4 #buddyreads with #PemberLittens #SundayBuddyRead & #SummerHeat

I also completed my ⬇️

DebinHawaii …library‘s #2022SummerReading Program, Kindle‘s Spring Reading Program & took part in #JoysOfJune & #4in20 readathons & #BigJuneReadathon

The Verifiers, The Catch Me If You Can, Unlikely Animals & My Fair Fellow were my top 4 favorites. Ironically, the tagged book is the only one I didn‘t like.🤷🏻‍♀️

Thank you to all the tagged readathon & buddyread hosts!🤗

Alex will help Molly to get the attention of Cora and at the same time this will help Alex to gain the trust of her ex girlfriend. The story is predictable but it was cute. There are other topics like knowing and accept yourself, cultural identity, alcoholism and believe in yourself. You will love Alex and her relationship with Molly. I really enjoyed it. I didn‘t know the authors are married so lovely their acknowledgment notes🥰3⭐️That cover😍

A combination of family/couple drama, related with a boarding school, character looking for her life identity and independence. So good. The audiobook was excellent. Many unlikely characters, many perspectives but so well integrated. Even when some twists were predictable to me I was wrong in The Who did it. Fast read. 3.8/4⭐️ The gifts in this subscription box for this were practical. I liked them.

Clap When You Land | Elizabeth Acevedo

I‘m not a fan of books written in verse but the audiobook helped me in this reading process. I appreciate when authors explain within the story foreign words or expressions. Spanish is my first language, but some words here were not familiar to me. But besides that, what a beautiful story. Loved it. A family drama, with secrets, betrayal, grief, but also hope and second chances. Two families will revealed how Yahaira and Camino are related. 4⭐️

Gissy Second book read by this author and I‘m looking to read her first one❤️ Clap when you land is also part of our traditions not necessarily with younger generations.

marleed I read this book a couple summers back, and I‘m still thinking about it. I secretly clap when I land now. I didn‘t physically own the book but finally picked it up on a 3 for 2 sale last week - I just want it in my 5* library! 3mo
Gissy @marleed At the beginning I didn‘t know if I would like it because of the format it‘s is written, but then I read it physically with the audiobook and it was easier for me. I couldn‘t put it down. So lovely, sad story and loved the end. The book is pretty under the dust jacket too. The audiobook is narrated by the author. Your purchase was worthy. There are some book stories that are kept in my mind for ever and this will be one of them

The Butcher | Jennifer Hillier

Mixed feelings with this book. You know who The Butcher is just in the first chapter but the story was interesting how the author was building this character. However, some actions were so unrealistic and some were too predictable. But I liked the writing style as a thriller🤷🏽‍♀️. I can‘t say almost anything without spoil the story. 3⭐️

I met 3 of the 6 #JoysOfJune goals. I am happy though. Life got in the way but all were good reasons. My best friend came to town. My teenager actually wanted to have conversations with me. So I am considering this readathon a success. @Andrew65

I was pretty excited to pick up the next installment of the Leaphorn & Chee series. There was good pacing here, and even though there was still a bit too much of Chee mooning over what to do about Janet, I really enjoy exploring his desire to balance his religious beliefs with his police work. At one point, he is trying to explain to Janet how he defines the Navajo concept of “hozho,“ a sort of state of harmony and balance. He says ⬇

TheAromaofBooks (cont'd) “[an example] - terrible drought, crops dead, sheep dying. Spring dried out. No water. The Hopi, or the Christian, maybe the Moslem, they pray for rain. The Navajo has the proper ceremony done to restore himself to harmony with the drought.“

Chee's genuine belief in the traditions and ceremonies of the Navajo are balanced by the more pragmatic Leaphorn who, while not scornful, is definitely skeptical. I'm really enjoying this series ⬇
