Am I to understand it's #nationalpetday, somewhere? Here are Igrec, the Min Schnauzer, and Monsieur Trou-noir, the very black crown tail betta (he's new). #dogsoflitsy #schnauzersoflitsy #fishoflitsy

StephanieMarie Good point about somewhere, didn't occur to me that's it's probably not in Canada lol! You have beautiful pets ❤ 10mo
Slajaunie Probably here in the U.S. we have a day for everything. Beautiful pets! 10mo
tournevis @StephanieMarie @Slajaunie I think is was in the US only, but we can all play, right? 😆 10mo

After the sudden demise of Madame Blanchette, we are welcoming another fish into the house. Meet the aptly-named Monsieur Trou-noir. He really is that dark. May he live longer than 13 months.

taraWritesSci Wow, he's an inky-black one! I got a baby girl in October who ended up black with red tips but nowhere near the darkness of your new fella. He's pretty! 10mo
tournevis @taraWritesSci He's the darkest betta I've ever seen. No grey, no brown, no blue, he's black and charcoal. And feisty. 10mo
tournevis @Susanita Yee, my bad. 10mo
Avanders Wow... very cool! 10mo

Some #LitsyTips:

😻 We love to see your #readingbuddies! Post pics of your pets with hashtags like #catsoflitsy, #dogsoflitsy, #petsoflitsy, etc. I know we have #ferretsoflitsy, #turtlesoflitsy, and even #snakesoflitsy! 😀

😻There are lots of fun, free photo editing apps to experiment with. Some of my favorites are PicsArt, Collage, Pic Collage, and Typorama.

Sace Yes! I am a sucker for the pets! 2y
Sace Oh! Photo Grid is another good editing app 2y
rubyslippersreads @RestlessFickleBookSlut Thanks—I'll check it out. 😀 2y

RaimeyGallant I think I've even seen a #FishOfLitsy, but don't quote me on that. Great tip! 2y
Bookzombie I also saw #hamstersoflitsy recently. 🙂 2y
Ms_T I came across #HusbandsOfLitsy today 😃 2y
Sace @Bookzombie aaand now my life is complete. 2y
tpixie @Ms_T oh! I should add that to my posts today!! 2y
TK-421 Another photo editing app is Aviary, which has the same tools Litsy used to have before the current photo tools were introduced. As you mentioned, Pic Collage is a good one. I also like Layout for collages. It's pretty basic, but it allows for a bit more control in resizing panels. 2y
rubyslippersreads @TK-421 I'll have to check those out too. Thanks! 2y
RealBooks4ever Great post! Thanks @rubyslippersreads ! 💜 2y
rubyslippersreads @TK-421 Aviary might just be my new favorite app! 😍 2y
TK-421 Glad you like it! 2y
diovival @TK-421 Thank you for the Aviary mention! I missed the blur feature from the old Litsy tools. 2y
ferskner @Bookzombie Woo hoo! Richard and I are going to make it a thing! 2y

The September Society | Charles Finch

I don't know about you, but I'd love to see some of the non-active Littens start posting again. I think if enough of us nudge them, we can make this community even more fun. I've created a participation challenge for every day of September, and here's your first #SmittenByLittens. Feel free to repost. :)

Kaye I am one of the lurkers who rarely responds. I have a couple of really DITZY sounding questions: 2y
Kaye How do you join in on the different readathons or challenges? And also us there a way to privately message someone in here to ask them a book related question? Thanks 2y
RaimeyGallant @Kaye Usually, if someone posts about a readathon or challenge, they'll post a hashtag that you can click on or search, but if they don't ask them in their comments, and they'll let you know. I posted some of the challenges for Sep about three posts down, and I included instructions. No private messaging:( 2y

SauerPatch Don't feel bad @Kaye , I mostly lurk too and still haven't figured those things out myself. 2y
RaimeyGallant @SauerPatch @Kaye It took me a while to figure things out to. I was doing some of the challenges wrong, I think. :) 2y
Kaye Thank you for the replies. I'm not very tech-minded, so I am clueless as to how to do some of these things in here. I'll see if I can jump in and figure it out. I'd like to know how you guys post all the neat pictures with the books and decorative things in the photos. I have this app on my iPods and iPad but don't do pictures hardly ever. I can post just to yak about books though. 2y
MidnightBookGirl Off to look at fellow lovers of 2y
RaimeyGallant @Kaye Do you know how to take a screenshot? That's how we do it. Then when you post, there's an option to upload an image, and you can pick the image you just screenshot, and Litsy gives you options to crop it or add words and other fancy features. You just have to play around with it. 2y
RaimeyGallant @Kaye Sorry, you can screenshot or take a photo. :) 2y
Kaye I don't know what a screenshot is. 😰I've only used the camera doohickey on my iPad a couple times. Lets just say I'm an Oldie and don't use all the gadgets on my devices. I'll fiddle around here a bit today and see what I can do. 2y
RaimeyGallant A screenshot is when you take a photo of what's on your screen. Google how todo that on an ipad. I don't have an ipad, so I'm not sure how. 2y
julesG Good idea! 2y
RaimeyGallant @julesG Thanks! I hope everyone else likes it too. Thousands of Littens out there who maybe just need a few nudges each. 2y
Kaye Ok, thank you. I'll see what I can find. I wish that I had a pet to take a picture of like some of you do. I don't even have a goldfish. I used to have 2, named Orville and Wilbur after the Wright Brothers. They were aptly named. The first time I cleaned their bowl, they both jumped out of the net as if they could fly. Needless to say, next day they were Belly-Up. 🐟 2y
RaimeyGallant @Kaye That is an awesome story. Sounds like something out of a Dr. Seuss book. :) #FishOfLitsy 2y
Siannalyn That's a great idea! Now I just have to choose the book! :) 2y
JazzFeathers I'm going to do it 😁 l alway leave cimments when l find something l like, and l've noticed that even when the person has been inactive for months, sometimes they answer me 2y
TheKidUpstairs Love this idea! 2y
Reviewsbylola Maybe if I tag @annied and @HotdogZanzabaar enough they'll post again. 2y
RaimeyGallant @Reviewsbylola Should I tag @AnnieD and @HotdogZanzabaar too? Do you think that would do it? 2y
RaimeyGallant @JazzFeathers I've noticed that too. :) 2y
Reviewsbylola We'll see if it works. 😂😂 2y
Simona Nice idea❣️ 2y
DrexEdit Love this idea! I'm going to look for people who post about David Mitchell books. 😊 2y
LauraBrook Love this! 2y
sprainedbrain I just love this idea!! 2y
haanim On it! 2y
Curious1 Agree. Love to read others opinions of authors. 2y
Litsi Wish there were a way to search all users, not just suggested ones. That way I could find more genuine connections. 2y
Peddler410 I like it! 2y
RaimeyGallant @Litsi Click into the likes of posts that are getting a lot of likes and follow those people, because they're recently active and likely to follow you back. 2y
AnansiGirl I love your smitten by littens challenge! 📚❤️ (edited) 2y
maich This is a great idea! I will start it today. I'm sorry I missed it. 2y
jpmcwisemorgan I do this sometimes when I finish a book I really enjoyed. I usually end up with new followers and people to follow. 2y

The Mermaid Chair | Sue Monk Kidd

The Secret Life of Bees was so good that I absolutely had to check out The Mermaid Chair next. Looking on is my fine finned companion, Egg Drop. Hoping to finish this one up this afternoon #fishoflitsy 🐠🐬🐳

rubyslippersreads ❤️🐠❤️ 3y
Cortg I'm curious about what you think? I was disappointed in this one but my hopes were way too high after reading Secret Life of Bees 3y
Mynameisacolour @Cortg The secret Life of Bee's is definitely a tough act to follow. I also liked it better then the Mermaid Chair. However I am partial to stories that have anything to do with the ocean/sea and really enjoyed the setting in this one. I also found myself identifying with the main characters need to reconnect with her genuine self and transcend the identity she'd created for herself by building her life around her husbands. (edited) 3y
Cortg Thanks for giving me your review and I'm so glad you enjoyed the book! 🛶 3y
