Bridget Jones's Diary | Helen Fielding
post image

#Aprella #CruelWorld #SingleLadies After my catch up trifecta of ?prompts, I'm just combining 2 today. (Busy week!)?Bridget Jones is the ultimate single lady in book & movie & she knew what a cruel world it was for a singleton to be surrounded by so many smug married couples. Luckily she had some great single 'ladies' as friends since it took a while for Mark Darcy to put a? on it even if he did say he liked her, "very much, just as you are."?

BethFishReads One the most fun P&P retellings 6y
Reviewsbylola Good pick!! I forgot about this one but it is perfect for this prompt. 6y

Traci1 🤠 love these 6y
Riveted_Reader_Melissa Great series, it diverges from the show in some parts so if you watch that be for warned. 6y
Gezemice I love these too! Never saw the show. Probably a good thing for a first time read. 6y

Meredith3 @Riveted_Reader_Melissa I've definitely heard of a few spoilers here and there! Sometimes it can be fun to see how comics/books/shows/movies differ! 6y
Meredith3 @Traci1 me too! 🧟‍♀️ 6y

Janet is born into a dark & dreary #cruelworld where she is unwelcome and for the most part, ignored. She finds comfort and a sense of humor in the form of nature and animals, but has a distaste for most humans...I highly recommend this beautifully written gothic tale 🖤
#aprella

LeahBergen I absolutely adore this book. ❤️ 6y
RohitSawant Stacking! Love the picture! 6y

My #currentread is about the #cruelworld of Chicago leading up to the 1893 world‘s fair. The weather is dreadful, the stock market is crashing, the buildings for the expo keep collapsing, and young women are disappearing. This true story of a serial killer on the loose while the architects prepare for the world‘s fair has been fascinating so far. #aprella

sammisho I just finished this and loved it! 6y
emilyhaldi LOVED this book!!! 🖤🖤🖤 6y
Reviewsbylola This was my first Larson and I loved it! 6y

Lcsmcat My whole book club loved this book (which is rare) but most of us liked either the fair or the serial killer part but not both. I was one of the few who liked both. 🤷🏻‍♀️ 6y
Mdargusch Great book! It‘s so hard to believe they ever had that fair. 6y
Cinfhen It‘s on my soon TBR as this book was gifted to me by @Bklover & @Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks ❤️❤️ 6y
Bklover @Lcsmcat I liked both as well- thought the whole thing was fascinating! @cinfhen ❤️❤️ (edited) 6y

Reviewsbylola Lmao. That picture is savage. 😂 🐸 6y
Mdargusch Ha! Good one. That cover though! 🙈 6y
SaturnDoo This reminded me of: my youngest son went to a friend's house for Thanksgiving dinner last year. They have a pet pig in the house. They were feeding the pig leftover ham from dinner. Son was ? and asked," Isn't that cannibalism?" ???? 6y

emilyhaldi OMG I witnessed this EXACT scene in our backyard when I was 12. We kept catching frogs from a local pond and putting them in the fountain in our backyard. They kept disappearing and we couldn‘t figure out where they went until ONE DAY I walked outside to see the biggest, fattest bullfrog of all sitting on the edge of the fountain with legs sticking out of his mouth!! 😵😱🤯 I will never forget it!!!! @Mdargusch @Reviewsbylola @Meredith3 @AnnieD 6y
Reviewsbylola How did I never hear this story before?!? @emilyhaldi 6y
Meredith3 @emilyhaldi 😫😫😫poor lil froggies 😿 6y
DivineDiana Horrors! 😬 6y
LeahBergen @SaturnDoo That is TOTALLY cannibalism! 😆 Your son is right! 6y
LeahBergen @emilyhaldi OMG. 😂😂 That is a a complete childhood trauma!!! 6y

A true diary account written by an anonymous woman living in Russian Army occupied Berlin spanning from April to June 1945. So much brutality and fear that I couldn‘t even begin to imagine but the author writes down all she, and other women, experience with such strength and resilience. Highly recommend it. #cruelworld #aprella

Reviewsbylola Sounds amazing but devastating. That cover. 😍😍 6y
Sophoclessweetheart Wow. This sounds perfect! Heartbreaking but just my kind of thing x 6y

Junior high students forced to fight to the death because they won't listen to the adults. 😂

The original Hunger Games (don't worry I like Hunger Games too but this one did come first 🤔).

pilardib The movie is good too! 6y

TricksyTails YES! Battle Royale! 😍🖤 Love this edition! Agree with @dragondrool , Battle Royale is so much better! 6y
Reggie Lol, I loved the movie and believe the part at the lighthouse is a small microcosm of how women act in the real world with each other all the time. 6y

Listening to this, and I can‘t help but think what a #cruelworld we live in, when school shootings excist, when parents forever doubt themselves, and when kids hide things they can‘t handle alone...

#Aprella

IamIamIam I found this very powerful. It wasn't an easy read. 6y
Reviewsbylola Is was so glad Sue Klebold wrote this. It is very necessary. But I agree, what a #cruelworld when the child you love and adore does something unimaginable like this. 6y
BookNAround This was a tough book to read but fantastic for all that. 6y

Jabberwocky I‘m working on the tagged book, and I definitely want to read Sue‘s account. 6y
Kalalalatja @IamIamIam definitely not! I‘m only 2 hours into it, but I have had a lump in my throat multiple times already! @Reviewsbylola I can‘t even imagine, but it most be the ultimate nightmare for any parent.. @BookNAround I‘m pretty sure you are right! @Jabberwocky that‘s on my tbr, too! I have heard so many great things! 6y
L_auren Ugh such a great book!!!! 6y
Cinfhen I was so impressed with this memoir! I thought Sue showed genuine sympathy and empathy for all involved and she didn‘t write the book for selfish or monetary motives 6y
Reviewsbylola I agree @cinfhen. I think she has handled the whole thing so well. I know it is in our nature to point fingers, but I honestly believe they had a loving, “normal” family, and I can‘t imagine having to face that your child did that while also grieving that same child that everyone hates. She wasn‘t able to grieve in the way the other parents were. 6y
Suet624 I agree with you all. I cried a lot while reading it. Sue did a great job with it. This book is a must read for any parent. @Reviewsbylola @Cinfhen @Kalalalatja (edited) 6y
Cinfhen Agreed @Reviewsbylola @Suet624 a must read FOR EVERYONE truly heartbreaking 6y
emilyhaldi I so want to read this book... but.... 😢 6y
