So...at the beginning of the year I set a goal to read one book per quarter that was at least 700 pages; I even made a hashtag. Well, 1st quarter '17 is in the books & I didn't achieve that goal so I decided to change the rules to 600+ 🙃My goal, my rules, right? 😉To those who posted with 700+ books so far, I am impressed!Well done! Finally getting to this book, which survived the first round of the #TOB17. I've had the ARC since May and I've heard nothing but great things, but the size of it has kept me from picking it up. #bigbooks17 I didn't guys! I've finished this 800+ page monster of a book and I've never felt more accomplished in my life. I have debated for the longest time wether or not to pick up this series since I've already watched the show. If anyone is asking themselves the same question, then trust me, it's so worth it. I didn't think anything could be better than this show, but as always, the book is better.

11/22/63: A Novel | Stephen King

When a book is 860 pages it had better be good and this one's a cracker. No boring bits!

The time travel angle had a pretty good logical consistency, which is always a plus. I like that sort of thing to be well thought out. King has a plausible explanation for every twist and turn of the plot.

60s nostalgia, tinged with sinister foreboding in the King style, plus the JFK thriller propelling the plot along, adds up to a top read.

Lola @Marchpane I'm so glad! And that's exactly why I started it- to kick my own butt to read some of the chunksters I have on my shelves. I did read 11/22/63 last year and loved it. Still haven't decided on my first big book for 2017. 7y

mauveandrosysky Honestly, the way you're doing it (50-60 pages a week) is perfect. I did it similarly (100 pages a week) and it made it feel very doable w/o consuming me (i.e. I could read other books while I read IJ). I also read it with a buddy so I can vouch for the fact that buddy reading it helps with accountability. 7y

mauveandrosysky But aside from that my biggest tip is to not get discouraged in the first couple hundred pages. Things will start coming together and it'll pick up. Also, this is one of those books that you read just as much for the journey as the destination, so try to just enjoy the brilliance of certain passages w/o being too overly focused on how it all comes together. 7y

JenP @BookishTrish great! I am a first time reader but have heard from many friends (who have read it) that a physical copy is the way to go. But I think have an expound might also be helpful -for looking stuff up. If you do stick with ecopy I would recommend making a photocopy of page 223 that you can keep handy after you read past that page 7y
