If anyone needed to send an #SOS it was Pi.
I loved this book. I think it helped that I had heard nothing about it before I read it, so I went in clear of any expectations and was completely mesmerised. I love books that twist things (relationships, events etc) and make you look at them askew - if it had been told literally, I don‘t think I would have enjoyed it half as much.
I started this book probably 10 years ago and never finished it, but I have a feeling I should give it another go. Two couples stranded on an island and one couple ends up dead. Very mysterious! And Vince B is a bad ass MOFO.
So yeah #SOS #ABBAinAugust
The Titanic is the most memorable of #SOS stories ⚓️ and this book @Mdargusch found at a recent antique sale recounts the "thrilling" stories of the survivors.
Inside I found this newspaper article that appears to be from 1985 when the ship was finally discovered on the ocean floor. How prudent that Bertha Wren (written in the inside page) chose to keep the news clipping inside this book ?
#AbbaInAugust Every since @emilyhaldi posted this book I‘ve been meaning to read it🤓As the Titanic struck an iceberg they sent out 8 emergency flairs hoping another ship would respond #SOS The SS California recognized the signs but did not comply. This is a historical imagining of what occurred.
The women and girls of the Red Abbey believe they have found a safe place in a world which doesn‘t allow women to feel safe and to be educated. This feeling of safety is destroyed when men arrive at the Abbey to hunt down a girl they don‘t want to let go.
I love reading about the Victorians, but if I lived back then I‘d be sending out an #SOS.
This book had me laughing out loud. The douching, The contraceptives, and just the general misinformation was almost unbelievable.
