Pickpick

Being a Gen X kid, growing up in the 80s, raised by parents who never worried about where you were or what you did. Writing obsessively in your diary to control the passage of time. I often recognized myself in Kimberly Harrington‘s book. Also in the main topic of the book: her marriage. Fortunately mine hasn‘t ended in a divorce but it is an eye-opening book and reading it felt like time well spend

Woman with a Gun: A Novel | Phillip Margolin

#MOvember
When I think of a gun or #Revolver I almost always associate it with this book which was written around an photo (like the one on the cover) that the author found hanging on a wall in a diner in Georgia.

Cinfhen That‘s cool / it‘s a great photo 4y

I haven‘t read this book yet, but a search on the book cover photo of the woman is Stagecoach Mary who carried a rifle and a #revolver to protect and deliver the postal mail on her route during the Wild West days.

#MOvember @Cinfhen

Cinfhen That‘s my type of #BadAss 🙌🏻❤️ Love that cover photo 4y
SconsinBookyBadger @Cinfhen she‘d be somebody I‘d want around back then. 4y

britt_brooke @emz711 Haunting is the perfect way to describe this. 4y
Cinfhen I‘ve heard this book is excellent/ it was one of my first add-ons to Litsy 😁 4y
Stevenjohntait I'm reading it now. First off, the author has done an amazing job but I am finding it a slog. Possibly because I'm reading it on my phone 4y
britt_brooke @Cinfhen It is! I read it earlier this year. Very tough, but fantastic. 4y
britt_brooke @Stevenjohntait Maybe it‘s slow-going because of the subject matter. I had to take it in smaller doses that usual because it‘s mentally exhausting. It‘s so good, though! 4y

Guns of one description or another figure on a number of covers in Stephen Leather‘s Spider Shepherd Series. Don‘t let the covers put you off, this series is little know but I love them! #Revolver #Movember

Cinfhen Covers are a little off putting/ not gonna lie 😱 4y
Andrew65 @Cinfhen Yes I don‘t think he helps himself with the covers. 4y

EadieB I own these 3 books by him:
Spider Shepherd
1. Hard Landing (2004)
2. Soft Target (2005)
3. Cold Kill (2006)
4y
Andrew65 @EadieB I‘m sure you‘ll really enjoy them. Biggest issue is the lack of chapters! 4y
EadieB @Andrew65 I need chapters. They are good places to take a break if you need to. 4y

I‘ve not read this, but I‘m guessing the brothel owner protagonist was packing some heat. What madame doesn‘t have a #revolver at the ready? 😆 #movember

Nineteen Minutes | Jodi Picoult

I don‘t tend to read Jodie Picoult but this sounds like a thought-provoking read about a school shooting.

Buechersuechtling This was my second Jodi Picoult. I was highly impressed. I like the way she describes mother-daughter-relationships. 😊 4y
TrishB My daughter has this on her shelves but I haven‘t read. 4y
Cinfhen I think I did read this book, when I was on a Jodi Picoult kick....but I‘m not such a fan these days 😬 4y

JennyM @Cinfhen @trishb @Buechersuechtling I‘ve only read one of hers a long time ago. It wasn‘t for me so I‘ve never picked any others up. But this sounds pretty good. 4y
JenReadsAlot My favorite book by her 4y
JennyM @JenReadsAlot I‘m going to read it -I think it sounds great! 4y
Reggie I read this back in the day when we weren‘t overwhelmed by gun violence and it still had a shock factor. It was pretty good but I don‘t think I‘d read it now. 4y
JennyM @Reggie hummm, maybe I‘ve missed the time for it then. I think it would be a definite library borrow rather than buy 4y

A collection of poems that traces the history and impact of the array of new objects (including the #revolver) on display at the Great Exhibition of 1851.
Haven't read it but the premise is interesting.
