Pickpick

One of the best fictional takes I have read based on real #History! I love Mantel‘s style. It takes getting used to, however.

#RedroseSeptember

Cinfhen This has been on my TBR for ages #MaybeOneDay #PageCountPhobia 1w
arlenefinnigan Not my kind of thing but I got it for my mum and she loved it. 1w

Ruthiella @CarolynM Yay 😃! Another fan! 1w
Centique @Ruthiella @LeahBergen me three! God I loved this book. I can‘t even explain it‘s draw for me - it‘s one of the very few books I just wanted to turn to the front and start it all over again. 7d
Ruthiella @Centique Mantel has a way of placing the reader inside the action of the book. I really felt I was THERE! 😀 7d

#RedRoseSeptember Trying to use books from my TBR all month...let‘s see how long that lasts😜A survivalist father takes his young daughter out into the woods claiming the world has ended #PoorMisguidedFool but what happens when Peggy discovers her father‘s betrayal. Lots of mixed reviews keep putting me off from reading this book. #SoManyBooksSoLittleTime #MaybeOneDay

Strayed goes #DownInTheWoods of the Pacific Crest Trail to find herself. For me, this was such a good read...it was gut wrenching, it was soul searching, and yet it was filled with hope. This isn‘t my usual type of book, but I appreciated her honesty and her bravery to do this and to stick with this. #ayupaugust

Cinfhen A book that has been lingering in hibernation for too long! Started this book years ago & somehow never finished it🙄Thanks for the reminder! #MaybeOneDay I‘ll actually finish it❣️ 4w
squirrelbrain Another one I‘ve been meaning to read for years too.... 😁 4w

What could be a happier hour, than being with fabulous friends, talking about books, and maybe having a glass of wine, or 2 for 1 if it‘s #happyhour !?
I met an amazing group of women at a bookclub, when I first moved to SoFL over 10 yrs ago. We then all joined a 2nd group, as we couldn‘t get enough! Then we formed a 3rd! So we meet 3 times a month!

Here are the next few selections for the club I run. (We skip Dec for gift giving!)

MicheleinPhilly You have some GREAT selections coming up! 1mo
Tex2Flo 🌺💕💕💕😙😘👍🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼💋💋💋 1mo
squirrelbrain I agree @MicheleinPhilly - some great books there! And how lovely to have IRL book friends too! 1mo

Pickpick

I admit I was not looking forward to the #comicorgraphicnovel prompt for #booked2019. Saga blew me away! It‘s so good that I stayed up way past my bedtime so that I could finish the first four volumes in one day. I might be hooked on graphic novels now.

Cinfhen So glad u enjoyed this prompt!! I‘ve tried so many times to read comics/ GN but I just can‘t get into them 😩 1mo
BridgetteM @cinfhen I hear you! I have avoided graphic novels like the plague. This was my first foray. 1mo
Cinfhen Yay!!! I haven‘t tried Saga #MaybeOneDay 1mo

Exbrarian Saga and Paper Girls are solid choices for book readers who are reluctant to try Graphic Novels. 1mo
KathyWheeler I avoided graphic novels figuring I was far too old from them. Then, when I was 50, my much younger brother introduced me to Neil Gaiman‘s Sandman, which I loved. I found Saga and Joe Hill‘s Locke & Key, both of which are fantastic, by myself. Saga blows me away. In every issue. 1mo
KathyWheeler @Exbrarian Yes! I forgot about Paper Girls; it‘s great too. 1mo
BridgetteM @Exbrarian Thanks for the recommendation! Paper girls looks awesome. 1mo
BridgetteM @KathyWheeler 😊 Graphic novels by Neal Gaiman and Joe Hill? Sign me up! 1mo
KathyWheeler @BridgetteM Sandman was the first Gaiman I ever read. 1mo
Leftcoastzen Saga is wonderful! 1mo
BridgetteM @KathyWheeler It was American Gods for me. Sandman is going to be my next Neal Gaiman, for sure. 1mo

Emma. Born with wild longings. Bored with the provincial life when she married the good (dull) country doctor, she pursues scandalous affairs. Wish I could tell poor Charles Bovary #dontmarryher but too late, the lives of everyone around her are endangered.

(Still from the 1991 movie adaptation starring Isabelle Huppert as Emma Bovary)

Out of The Easy | Ruta Sepetys

#MayMovieMagic You would think with a prompt called #Easy thinking of a book would be #easy 😉I had to consult with my GoodReads!! I‘ve read the memoir and gave it 3 stars and the tagged book is still on my #WantToRead list(along with 963 other books😂) #SoManyBooksSoLittleTime

erzascarletbookgasm I have the Ruta Sepetys on my tbr too. 4mo
TrishB It‘s good to have a goal 😁 4mo

hermyknee Ooh Out of the Easy was the first Ruta Sepetys I read - so good! 4mo
Cinfhen I‘ve heard good things about the tagged book but I wasn‘t blown away by her other book, which also has a HIGH Litsy rating @hermyknee @GatheringBooks @erzascarletbookgasm 4mo
Cinfhen Yes @TrishB if I read 120 books a year from my current TBR and don‘t add anything else to my TBR I can reach my goal in about 8 1/2 years!!! 4mo

Mehso-so

⭐️⭐️⭐️
This wasn‘t really what I expected. I thought it would focus more on the murder than it actually did. I enjoyed the parts about the murder and trial and some of the parts that weren‘t directly related to that were entertaining/interesting. But I did find myself losing interest and skimming at times, and honestly, I can‘t really say I cared about any of the people in this book. 🤷🏽‍♀️
