After answering the discussion questions for today‘s #BOTMBuddyread chat, I couldn‘t wait to finish this...

Fell, NY has secrets. And the Sun Down Motel outside of town seems to be the epicenter. Told in dual timelines, this ghost story is creepy and compelling, with a few twists and turns. I had some suspicions that were correct, but I didn‘t have everything figured out. There‘s mystery and suspense - so glad I read this during the day!

I really enjoyed this novel. The main character John is a sociopath he is also 15 & relates to serial killers so much that he thinks he may become one. Then someone is murdered in his town and he decides to go after the killer.

Even though I‘m #teamslaughter, I had my heart set on reading Dracula this October so I just listened to it this weekend during our epic road trip. Not terribly scary, but a more layered and developed story than I had anticipated! Really quite a good read and Simon Vance is always an amazing narrator. 5pts (I think) #scarathlon #bbrc #growup #freezerbook #readmyowndamnbooks

Rise: The Complete Newsflesh Collection | Mira Grant

What a great collection of novellas! Mira Grant can sure spin a great zombie story. I love her scientific explanations of how zombies came about, and how the Rising (the Zombie Apocalypse) progressed.

My favorite novella in here was How Green This Land, How Blue This Sea. It‘s an in depth look at Australia‘s method of dealing with the undead. Zombie Kangaroos y‘all! What‘s not to love?!

DaveGreen7777 The book is actually much scarier than the movie! 😱 I liked the movie, but most of it‘s strength comes from the acting performances, while the book has a lot more layers to it (and they‘re all pretty chilling)! 5y

That's another one down! I love reading this book because it is so different from the movie. I watched The Shining a lot when I was growing up, so that's what I picture. The book took me back to King's original vision and it was just as chilling. I think both works are magnificent for their type of medium. #epicstephenkingreread #1977 #book5

The Taking | Dean Koontz

This is a "freezer" book!! It is one of the scariest books I've ever read. It even gave me dreams last night, that I woke up from, with my heart pounding. I'm having to read a calmer book in-between chapters of this one. I can't wait to see what happens next though. #freezerbook #friendsreference #scarybook #thetaking
