Such a practical & helpful read for those in the midst of ‘cultivating holy curiosity‘, and also more mature Christians needing a reminder & reset back at ground zero. Also, I appreciated that Mathis was direct when compiling this book by including a lot of writing clips from other authors instead of trying to reword & regurgitate what was already previously ‘said best‘.

In today's episode of the Unabridged Podcast, you can get to know the hosts! Yes, Ashley, Sara, and I dived in to answer some listener questions (and some from our fantastic Unabridged Ambassador community). We answer questions both bookish and not: some about the podcast . . . and a few that made us sweat. (Sometimes, vulnerability is hard. 😂 ) ⬇️

UnabridgedPod We'll share more soon (we had so many great questions that this is part 1 of 2!), so let us know: what questions do you have for Unabridged? 3y

So I read the hobbit last year in 9 days and was so excited to start the trilogy. The fellowship was a very slow start for me. I started reading it in July of last year and didn‘t get into it until about page 200, but then I was hooked. I had a goal to finish by the end of 2020 and I finished it at 11:53pm on New Years Eve lol. All in all it was pretty good.

When the Church Was a Family was an incredible, eye opening read. It was encouraging to read something affirming the way I‘ve life I‘ve come to enjoy with my life group network that functions more like house churches than a small group. It was fascinating to learn the theories and biblical basis for the structure of our groups.

⭐️⭐️⭐️

I really wanted to love this one because it was a reccomendation from a group of people I glean a lot of spiritual teaching and wisdom from.

But I just didn't.

The book had it's moments of truth bomb gold, but otherwise I didn‘t feel very engaged in it.

Both the physical book and the audiobook read very academically, and that‘s just not my style.

When this one finished up today, I was glad to be done with it and ready to move on.

God wants greatness of soul—people who will endure, wrestle, persevere, refuse to quit, and cling to His goodness even when there is much they can‘t see clearly.

“In the act of exclusion, we divide the world up into “us” and “them”. These terms do not simply point out that we‘re different......They also mean that we take a posture of rejection and withdrawal toward the others. We refuse to offer them any heart or goodwill. We deliberately indulge in feelings of superiority at their expense.”

#BookReport / #WeeklyForecast: I only finished one book this week (tagged) & it‘s the one where I only had about 25 pages left. 🤦🏻‍♀️ But I‘m hoping to finish both in-progress reads & one other this week:
🦄The Little White Horse: 1/3 left, may finish this afternoon.
👑Sorcerer to the Crown: 1/4 finished—I‘m really enjoying it, but I‘ve been so distractible this week!
🗡Libriomancer: I need to both start & finish this, for book club next Sunday.

Cinfhen For some reading has been an escape for others it‘s too hard to focus/ I‘m finding both 😛I‘ve started the same book 4 times but blew through 2 others 🤷🏼‍♀️ 4y
BarbaraJean @Cinfhen It‘s such a weird thing—varies for me from day to day what I‘m able to focus on, what is an escape, etc. Just trying to stick with what works when it works! 🤪 4y

People who love authentic community always prefer the pain of temporary chaos to the peace of permanent superficiality.

Don‘t forgive, and the bitterness will crowd the compassion out of your heart slowly, utterly, forever.
