This book was another fascinating installment from this wonderful series. As the story has progressed, more and more interesting supporting characters have been added, and it is a testament to the authors talent that the storyline remains interesting, the historical facts remain on point and the reader (or at least me, anyway) cares more and more for the twins (while having mixed feelings for the Flamel). #recentlyread #nospoilers #YAFANTASY

As I suspected, I deeply enjoyed this book. It spoke of the resilience in the face of adversity, and an unlikely association that lead to a meaningful and emotionally charged discovery. Although I did suspect part of the motive behind the crime, the way it was written I was speed-reading through the end. I wonder how the movie compares? #recentlyread #nospoilers #crimefiction #POW 🤔❤️📚

The latest installment of this fascinating series did not disappoint, even though it did make me question the fragile morality of humans and how a seemingly normal, happy Amish family could be hiding a devastating secret. I was determined not to bail on this book, and so I powered through and finished it over the weekend. Unfortunately, despite the beautiful cover and interesting premise all it scored with me was a "meh." Overall a little bit long-winded, meandering and less than enthusiastic. There was some drama and some characters that made an impression (Krig and Rita) for whom I pushed through to the end. #recentlyread #nospoilers #notmycupoftea #meh

Between the book sale (??) and Netflix with my family, I only managed to finish this first book in the #24B4Monday readathon.
On top of that, it left me wondering how an author could make a murder investigation feel so dull and procedural? ? Perhaps the third personal narrator and the "after the fact" storytelling just wasn't my cup of tea. Point in favor: I know more about Swedish jurisprudence now. #nospoilers #truecrime

I must say that I am really enjoying the development of this series. The twins are learning very important lessons, there is many layers to the main secondary characters, and the additional characters that get introduced are also fascinating. It is also neat to encounter historically accurate characters and how they relate to the story. Lastly, even though it is centered on magic, the plot is surprisingly believable. #recentlyread #nospoilers #YA

Rumspringa (the period of rebellion for Amish teenagers), a serious of mysterious disappearances, and Chief Burkholder gets called in to assist due to her unique background and experience. Another wonderful story in the series of The No. 1 Detective Agency. I do have to say that less mysteries were solved, and there was more to be done regarding ongoing character development and the answering of philosophical and day-by-day drama questions (I.E. how to get out of an uncomfortable arrangement and still not lose face?), but I think they are still important. #recentlyread #nospoilers #ladydetective

It is beautiful to find a novel with such an intricate world, well developed characters, and fast paced story line that you are compelled to read until the end, and it does not matter how big the book itself is.
