The Wolfe | Kathryn Le Veque

All the 🌟‘s. For all you medieval romance enthusiasts out there this one is for you! It was epic! William “The Wolfe” de Wolfe and Lady Jordan “Jordi” Scot are well developed and oh so engaging. Added in were many well developed secondary characters, thus the reference tabs, so many future stories. I felt like I was there. The villains and obstacles were many, never a dull moment.. wished it was longer than 800+ pages. #Chunksters #DeWolfe

Wolf Hall | Hilary Mantel

#SoaringScores #EntryIntoTheGreatHall #BookishConfession I‘ve never read Hilary Mantel🙈where should I start?!!! Are they all #chunksters ?!?! #PageCountPhobia

SamAnne I‘m wondering too! Recently picked up a couple of her books used. I‘m thinking of starting with Wolf Hall. Other suggestions? (edited) 2w
merelybookish I've only read Wolf Hall. I liked it. It's historical fiction with a slant 2w
BarbaraBB I liked Wolf Hall too. Aftereards I started its sequel, Bring up the Bodies, but I couldn‘t get into that one. I‘ll try again, one day.... 😉 2w

Kalalalatja I have read Wolf Hall, and I wasn‘t impressed 😅 and it is a bit chunky 2w
CarolynM I loved Wolf Hall and Bring Up the Bodies. I'm not looking forward to the last one in the trilogy though. That's the problem with fictionalised history - you know where it's going. 2w
Centique I loved them too but then I love this period of history and I‘m hungry to get a good feel for that world. It will be either love or hate for you I think. So #borrowdontbuy 2w
Cinfhen Thanks for all the feedback @merelybookish @BarbaraBB @Kalalalatja @Centique I think the #BorrowNotBuy is a good idea 💡 and I hear ya @CarolynM although I‘m fuzzy with all my world history 🤪 2w
Cinfhen @SamAnne seems like Wolf Hall is a good place to start!!! 2w
Hooked_on_books I like audio for chunksters, so maybe that‘s a way to go. 2w
Cinfhen I‘ll look into that option @Hooked_on_books Good suggestion 😌 2w
jillrhudy The third book in the trilogy is coming out March 3 with a 300,000 first printing from Henry Holt & Co. 2w
RealBooks4ever Loved Wolf Hall. It's not a tough read, never mind the page count. 💜 2w
CrowCAH I enjoyed the PBS miniseries based on this book! 2w
TrishB Love these ❤️ I can‘t wait for the 3rd! 2w
vivastory I LOVED the following (& it's not a chunkster) 2w
Reviewsbylola You shouldn‘t start. 😆 2w
Reviewsbylola Granted, I‘ve only read the first 150 pages of WH but never again!! 2w
Reviewsbylola I do think Mantel is very talented, but I don‘t have the energy or headspace that her books require. (edited) 2w
Cinfhen Hahaha @Reviewsbylola I think I may be in the same boat as you!!! Head space is KEY these days!!! 2w
BkClubCare I loved the style of Wolf Hall - history truly as it lives and breathes. #SuperRooster 17h
Cinfhen I think I‘m gonna finally give this book a try @BkClubCare 15h
BkClubCare @Cinfhen - the audiobook was pretty good. I think it added to the drama and narrator made it easy to discern characters. 6h
Cinfhen I‘m always looking for audio suggestions so that‘s really good to know. Thanks 😊 now

Over 800 pages! In most cases, I can say I read the book before the movie/series, not this time.Didn‘t have HBO but starting watching GOT on DVD in 2017 .Got HBO just to watch the last season , & am rewatching it again.Excellent book, hope to get to the other books ...soon.Great characters ,great adventure, where is that last book Mr. Martin?🤔

CoffeeCatsBooks Nice thing about coming to the series later, at least you don‘t have to wait years in between all the books (just this last one/two). 1mo
Leftcoastzen @CoffeeCatsBooks Indeed! If I wasn‘t so backed up with #chunksters I would probably start the next one. 1mo

What to do when the kiddo wakes you up at 3? Get some quiet reading in on some #chunksters!

The Overstory is amaaaaazing.

I love Neal Stephenson, but can the man write a book under 500 pages??? I‘m nervous about this one, v. v. mixed reviews.

While I was shopping for shoes my hubby stumbled upon a book store. He bought 3 books!!! I think he‘s been Litsyfied 😂Two of his books are #chunksters 📚📚of course I couldn‘t let him be the only one to buy a book...I got one too ( and a new pair of shoes 😉) Can you guess which book was my choice???

Crazeedi Letters , the top one! 3mo
Cinfhen 👍🏽 @Crazeedi 💗 3mo
Cinfhen What I like about my copy is it‘s the revised edition. It contains responses from Palestinians who share their own dialogue and beliefs. Should be fascinating 3mo

DivineDiana Glad you found one! At first, I thought that the shoebox was a book spine and colehaan.com was the name of the book! 😂 3mo

Yay!I‘m a little mad at myself,I‘m stalled on my #booked2019 challenge , reading serious books and #chunksters that I am enjoying but...what a breath of fresh air this Biden/Obama bromance mystery was!Just needed something lighter and this book did the trick.I know there is a second one out, looking forward to reading more of this series.Clever and fun.🥰

Bklover I bought this quite a while back but haven‘t read it yet- it does look fun! 3mo
ValerieAndBooks I keep hoping to come across this in the used bookstores but no luck yet! Which is kind of odd, considering that I live only 7 miles from the Delaware border 😂! 3mo
Leftcoastzen @ValerieAndBooks So funny , there was so much Litsy love for this book and I found it cheap, I think you will too! 3mo
Leftcoastzen @Bklover it‘s a great palette cleanse, jump when the moment is right! 3mo
Suet624 Especially now this book is a great cleanse all the way around. 3mo

Just signed up for the #HSreadathon! https://bit.ly/2SZAlsq Looking forward to spending my quiet August trying to blast through my TBR pile...but guys, do you have any idea how many #chunksters are on said pile? Or how much my pile blew up after the local bookstore decided to move and made all their books $2 to lighten the load? These are just the TBRs I have WITHIN ARMS REACH! 😆 😆 😆

Major #unpopularopinion time. But that's the beauty of places like Litsy, it's always fun to share ?

I'm really not having luck with some of these recent releases. For this, I found it just plain messy, so much that I couldn't buy into the "fun" that it was probably supposed to be. Especially after strongly disliking The Last Time I Lied, this is just not an author I jive with.

Anyone else not a fan? Would love to hear your thoughts! #botm

Megabooks I didn‘t like Final Girls that much. I have TLTIL from BOTM, but it‘s part of the backlog. I didn‘t see the the point of getting this one. Doing the BOTM challenge in 2017 soured me to mysteries/thrillers. 3mo
erank58 @Megabooks I've been having such a problem with BOTM thrillers lately. They just aren't doing anything for me! I think I'll stick to their other picks for a few months 👌 3mo
cherinium I've only read Final Girls. I wasn't blown away by it, but did find it to be a nice palate cleanser between some epic fantasy #chunksters. I have the other two Sager books on my shelves, but am in no huge hurry to get to them. I'll probably pick them up when I want something to read quickly as a break from the longer, more involved books 3mo

erank58 @cherinium I think that's exactly what his books are good for--they are entertaining and fast paced, but not heavy-handed. I have heard that Final Girls is the one people have liked the least, so maybe this one will work for you! 3mo
cherinium @erank58 You never know. I feel like sometimes you get lucky and read a book at the right place and time in your life, and it just clicks. On the other hand, sometimes you pick a book up at the wrong time and can't enjoy it even if it's in your normal wheelhouse. I will sometimes give a so-so book a second chance if I feel I was just in the wrong headspace the first time around. 3mo
ravenlee I read The Last Time I Lied on a whim and found it pretty mediocre. Mildly entertaining, but I didn‘t think it was terribly thrilling or suspenseful. Not too interested in following this author, myself. 3mo
Hooked_on_books I‘m a big fan of the mystery/thriller genre, but I just don‘t like Sager. I liked the second half of Final Girls, so I read his second book and thought it was awful—a whole lot of writing with almost no plot. I won‘t even bother with this one. I don‘t really get the love for him. 3mo
Marilyncjackson I didn‘t like this book either. I found it very boring. It was labeled a gothic thriller (and that‘s what other reviewers said) but it was so very boring. I was able to skip from page 66 to 20 pages from the end and get the general idea of what was going on. There was so much repeating, and “telling” from the author that you didn‘t need to read the whole book to get the story. I said I bailed on it because I only read 1/4 of it. 3mo
cherinium @ravenlee @Hooked_on_books @Marilyncjackson @Megabooks I'm happy to see some people speaking out about things they did not enjoy about Sager's books, because my feed is usually filled with raving reviews of his books. At the same time, your comments are not mean spirited and harsh like many negative reviews on Goodreads. I love that Litsy is a platform where it's ok to admit you don't like something without making those who do like it feel bad. 3mo
Marilyncjackson @cherinium that‘s why I tend to like Litsy better for reviews because people are more professional and less personal (by this I mean personally attacking authors which is not cool) thank Goodreads. It is also nice to know I am not alone in my dislike of this book. 😊 3mo
cj82487 I have this book on my shelf right now to eventually read but I keep coming across mixed reviews on it too. I was excited to pick it but now it sits there for the moment I decide to pick it up and actually read it 🤷‍♀️ 3mo
erank58 @cj82487 I'll be curious what you think of it! 3mo
