Just finished rewatching the whole series in prep for this weekend 🐉 🔥 ❄️ 🐺 Cannot wait. This book is a nice venture into Westeros 100 years prior to Thrones. It‘s actually 3 novellas about a hedge night and his squire, Egg. All true fans know who Egg really is which makes this book special.
Books from yesterdays thrift haul! I was excited about all of them, until I got them home and read reviews ?
The top 3 are apparently either very politically biased "history" or not informative, so those are a bust.
Merrick by Anne Rice
A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms by George R.R. Martin
A Dance with Dragons by George R.R. Martin
My Life by Bill Clinton
Decision Points by George W. Bush
(I am trying to read books by/about each president)
I know it‘s not “The Winds of Winter” but I really enjoyed these three novellas of Westeros. I got easily sucked in to the adventures of Dunk and Egg! “The Hedge Knight” was my favorite story.
I thought these hit the mark for the novella format in that they did not feel rushed or undeveloped to me.
As always, the Targaryen family tree is mind bending and I may have had to consult an actual family tree to try to keep them all straight 😂
One of the best parts about having an Amazon household set up with my mom is that sometimes she just comes across books and buys them because I‘ll be able to get them on my Kindle too... like this one!
She has never read or watched Game of Thrones but saw this for 2.99 today so she buys it so I can read it. (I assume it is on sale but I don‘t actually know...) She even wrote “happy reading” when she texted me to tell me she bought it 😜😃
While I really want him to finish GoT, this was a good collection of stories about a few characters in the past. I would certainly read about Eggs some more!
Starting this tonight! I checked out Fire & Blood from the library, so I figured I should tackle this one first.
It‘s a collection of 3 novellas during the Targaryen reign, taking place 100 years before the events of ASOIAF book one, A Game of Thrones.

Been waiting all day to open as had to be in work very early this morning!
How cool are all these 😁❤️ thank you Tatiana - the mask books are so cool - we‘re pretty rubbish at such stuff in our house but we‘re going to give them a go!
Haven‘t got any of the books and all the goodies are awesome.
Thanks Jenny for organising such a fun swap.
Such a sweet set of stories about Dunk and Egg!
I wish there were more (although if I get to pick, I would like you to finish the actual ASOIAF series first please George R R Martin).
Egg aka Aegon is serving as squire for the Hedge Knight Ser Duncan the Tall. As they serve no particular lord day to day, they often find themselves under the stars with only chewy salt beef. Yet their comradery helps get them through.
This was a fantastic read. I was initially worried in case it wouldn't have matched to A Song of Fire and Ice style/standard of writing but I was actually blown away. The detail and characters were beautiful and it made reading this book perfect for 'filler' during the dreaded wait for Winds of Winter. 😅
Getting drawn into the world of Game of Thrones and I‘m loving it.
So this wasn't a bad book - I actually really liked the main characters, dunk and egg, and the stories themselves were good- but for some reason I just couldn't get into it like I could with the rest of the game of thrones series. I would like to read more stories with dunk and egg in but may not come back to this book again soon...
this is an excellent "filler" book, esp. if you've been on your toes for the next installment in the ASOIAF series. it's a very easy read, with tales about the legendary Ser Dunk and Egg, and even if it's not directly related to what's happening in ASOIAF, it gives you your fill of chivalry, knights, bastard heirs, politics, ladies, and dragon eggs. it helps a lot that the illustrations are gorgeous too! #holidayreads
• Good morning! I've almost finished the Hedge Knight story in A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms. I'm reading crazy slowly apparently because it's only 118 page part! But I'm totally enjoying it! It's brilliant. Have you read it? 〰#GRRM #book #booklover #bookstagram #bookblogger #bibliophile #met_createchange

• A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms. 5⭐️
Not a great month for me, but I've been in a bit of a slump and each time I finished a book I lacked any desire to start a new one. 😏

This is a fantastic read, from the first page I felt connected to the character Dunk. And I loved the relationship between Dunk and Egg. The story overall was brilliant and it was great to be in Westeros again! If your a fan of GoT then pick this up. 5/5 ⭐️ I loved it.

How am I gonna survive without my weekly episode of #GameOfThrones ? 😟
The first two parts of this book were The Hedge Knight and The Sworn Sword which I had read in graphic novel form. This book added more details which I enjoyed! The last part was called the Mystery Knight. It was fantastic. I love the world GRRM has created! I also LOVE Egg!!
This crosses off #letterK for me! #LitsyAtoZ
This is a collection of three novellas that take place a century before the events in Song of Ice & Fire. I haven't read any of the novels that serve as the basis for GOT, so I am unable to compare them. Knight of Seven Kingdoms follows hedge Knight, Duncan & his squire, Egg. I loved this book. The new season of GOT is airing about three months later than usual. This was a great way to be in Westeros again.
