Good read…

This was my first Sophie Kinsella book, and I was surprised by how much I laughed out loud. From the quirky supporting cast to the outrageous scenarios, this really was a fun read. It was, however, grounded in serious moments too, like coping with job burnout, aging and dementia, etc. I really enjoyed it!

I‘m so happy I picked this one up. Great narration on the audiobook. Kinsella brought a fun cast of characters, a wonderful locale, issues and laugh out loud moments.

A brown butter blondie (with pecans and dark chocolate chunks), the last few chapters of this cute book, and a little milk - a pretty good way to spend a Tuesday evening 💕

Man alive, did the early pages of this book ever send me spiralling back to a time when I wished I could have run away from my desk to literally run into a brick wall. Happily, that is just the opening pages. It's been ages since I read a Kinsella and this had me laughing right out loud and turning the pages far later into the nigh than I should have. What a hilarious group of supporting characters!

Charming, witty, and truly laugh-out-loud funny! This book is an exceptionally good time. And I highly recommend the audiobook on Spotify- the actress reading, Bessie Carter, is so animated with her fun voices.
For anyone who‘s ever wondered if they‘re “doing self-care right.” It gets taken to such an extreme in the story, but in a funny, relatable way. And the romance is really heartwarming 💕
A nice way to end the reading year!

This is quite entertaining romantic comedy that strikes a balance between laughter and heartfelt moments. There are some really good takeaways about priorities, boundaries & self-care. But overall, this was more like a one time read... It feels like I've outgrown Sophie Kinsella which I'm totally bummed about...

I wanted very slightly more out of the final misunderstanding, but GOD did this book have my whole heart otherwise. Sasha and Finn were so real, and their struggles with burnout were a little TOO relatable. And the whole Rilston crew! I will never stop laughing! #romcom #contemporaryromance

I think I‘ve read all of Sophie Kinsella‘s stand-alone books, and several of the shopaholic series. I enjoyed this one, which has a little depth to go with the rom-com. It would be a fun book to read in January because there‘s a “new year, new you” theme.

I read this at the perfect time - I am usually feeling a little burnt out at this time of year. This audiobook is funny, warm, quirky, and hopeful. It‘s just plain fun; the perfect burnout antidote. Let‘s remember: “The ride is it!” 🎧

I‘ve liked Kinsella‘s other books, but this one isn‘t working for me. Could just be the timing, but it‘s coming across as silly, so back to the library it goes!

I'm only halfway through but am really loving this one so far. There's a certain wackiness in Kinsella's stories that doesn't always land for me, but coming off a job where I experienced *intense* burnout, I'm feeling our MC in my very soul. I'm a few months into a new gig that feels more balanced at this point, but there's still a deep part of me that needs to go stare at the sea for three weeks as Sasha and Finn do. I'm sure many can relate!

This was so good! I haven‘t read much by Kinsella and I‘m going to have to remedy that. This was charming, thoughtful, and laugh out loud funny. A woman suffering from major burnout struggles to put her life back together after blowing it up. A return to a beloved childhood vacation spot, a rundown hotel with a quirky staff, unsuccessful self help strategies and a hot stranger encourage her to see her life in a new light. This book is laugh out loud funny, filled with plenty of heart, &wholly relatable.

Sasha‘s toxic workplace causes her mental health to take a turn, so she goes out on some R&R. She chooses to go to Rilston, a small town full of nostalgia from her childhood summers &new friendships in the form of Finn, another guest staying there for burnout, &the hotel staff who were quirky and caring. Slowly she heals, but not w/out some mishaps along the way.

I always enjoy Sophie Kinsella‘s books, some more than others. While this one is not top of my Kinsella list, it‘s (as all of her offerings are) filled with humor, wonderfully-drawn characters, a compelling storyline and just an overall feel-good vibe. Sasha is overworked, underappreciated and frustrated with her job as Director of Special Promotions at Zoose…too many inane “urgent” emails, a corporate employee joyfulness program that she has no🔻
