I had an absolute blast diving back into the magical world of Alagaësia with "Murtagh"! His perspective brings a whole new layer of depth and intrigue to the tale, making the adventure feel both familiar and thrillingly. The twists and turns in his journey kept me hooked from start to finish. Highly recommended for a fun, adventurous read that rekindles the enchantment of the original saga!

First in a new series (it would appear) focusing on Murtagh‘s path after the demise of Galbatorix.
Unlike the early Inheritance Cycle, this dragged a bit for me. It was very long and I found myself often wondering what had just happened. Murtagh wallows too much in self-pity and I found the treatment Thorn experienced both under Galbatorix and in this story difficult to listen to. Still, it did have its moments.

I enjoyed this more as it went on. Will likely reread at some point, as there are always more things to discover in these epic fantasies. It's even inspired me to attempt Paolini's Fractalverse again, even though I abandoned his sci-fi early on in my first go at it. But I love worlds with dragons and all manner of creatures and "oh my" scenery. Hence a trip to New Zealand very soon as well!

So far Murtagh is pretty good.

After reading the Inheritance Cycle and The Fork, the Witch, and the Worm (again), I am now starting his newest book. I enjoy this world and re-living this adventure from time to time, I love the scenery he paints and the thought of being in this world of mountains, multiple races of sentient beings, and the escape from my professional life that this brings. Sometimes I don't know if I'd rather live in my world or another.

Dragons and soldiers and cults! Oh my! Middle Earth meets Pern meets Revelations. Murtagh gets his chance to … shine? Redeem himself? There‘s room for continuation of the saga, but it‘s also a satisfying conclusion if it‘s the end.

With this, I think I‘ve cleared enough books from the #serieslove1024 board (along with the ➡️ books that I‘m pushing to the future), that I can go with one list now. Unless of course I start a new series!

1. Reading, paying bills, socializing, freecycling.
2. Rom com trivia with my sister and friends on Thursday. Wine and truffles with book club on Sunday.

Long book but worthwhile so far. I‘d love to finish it before Libby snatches it back again, but I‘ll be happy to get to the 50% mark. I barely remember anything more than the major details of the first four books, but that‘s okay.

For #seriesread2024 non-mystery edition I‘ve also activated the bail option for The Perfumist of Paris. As much as I enjoyed the first two books, this one just wasn‘t working for me.

I loved it. I feel the writing has gotten so much better throughout the series. It instantly took me back to a simpler time in my life. I always wished for a Murtagh book and surpassed my expectations. I love the connection between Murtagh and Thorn and their adventures. And the cult. Oy.

Absolutely awesome to be back in this series. With a book fallowing my favorite character. Always thought murtagh didn‘t get enough development, so it‘s good to finally see him get it.This book was a great ride with lots on new lore and character development for both thorn and murtagh. It also sets up the next big threat for murtagh and the others to face off with in the next book for in the series.

It was so good to visit back Alagësia. I was in elementary school when Eragon was first published now I am almost 30 so I feel incredible old. I loved this book I wasn't miss Eragon at all from this and I really hope there will be mire books in this series.

I put in my library hold as soon as I heard this was out. I really liked the Eragorn books, and I loved To Sleep in a Sea of Stars.

While I felt the book could have been shorter, I still enjoyed it. I‘m glad we get to have a continuation of the series from Murtagh‘s point of view. Great narration if you like audiobooks. 🐉💛 Thorn the dragon is a character I‘m glad to have more insight into.

Hello everyone! Been awhile. Good thanksgivings? Good Black Friday? Kinda splurged yesterday.

I can't imagine a more perfect way to start the weekend! 🤭📚💕 I still can't get over how excited I am that he has written another book in this world! Seeing some of these characters again feels like coming home!

This book cause me physical pain over mentions of Thorns treatment in Uru'baen. Well, Murtagh too, though Throns hit differently. This whole book is about fighting for freedom from fear imposed by others will. They both grew so much. Looking back from start to finish, the connection between such a conquest is well portrayed. Paolini still writes such horrors of evil. The place they go is so chilling.
Ending gives room for potential follow up.

For he knew who he was and why he was there, and he no longer sought to fight with misery, but in pursuit of freedom.

I have such nostalgia when it comes to the Eragon series! 🐉💕 It's not the most well written fantasy series about dragons, but it's still definitely one of my favorites! Super excited about the new book in the series, as well as the gorgeous new illustrated edition of Eragon!

Since Murtagh is releasing this November, I'm going to reread The Inheritance Cycle + The Fork, the Witch, and the Worm! A couple of chapters a day (because I don't already have enough on my July reading list 🤣)
